Hello! My name is Diamond, and I'm obsessed with everything that has to do with The Sims! I currently have fun, teenage, drama-filled series filmed with The Sims 3 and 4!
I also write books based on these series, and you can find them at Amazon.
I watched the YouTube series when I was a kid and loved it, it’s what made me start playing sims which I still play to this day! When I saw there were books on the series I immediately started reading and loved them.
This isn’t the first time I’ve read this series, I literally read this book for the first time over 10 years ago and I still love it now.
It’s interesting to see how my opinions on the characters have changed now that I’m reading this as an adult as to when I first read this series as a teenager.
Anon. follows the life of Chelsea Clark through a series of blog posts. Chelsea is a slightly awkward, mostly relatable teen. Her story begins with getting the chance to tutor her longtime crush, Kyle, and the friendship that springs up between them. Things really start getting interesting when Chelsea catches Kyle’s girlfriend fooling around with the guy her Mom set her up with, Tucker. Chelsea initially writes Tucker off as a jerk, but once she gets to know him better, she finds herself stuck trying to choose between Tucker and the newly single Kyle.
This book is the beginning of a series based off the YouTube series of the same name. I’ve been following diamonnddx and her sims for a while now, and I love the stories she comes up with. The book uses the same characters, but it takes a slightly different path. I really enjoyed the book, though by the last chapter, I was a little tired of Chelsea’s back and forth between the two guys. This probably is just a result of the love triangle overload I’ve been feeling from stories in general. It’s never been my favorite trope, but it you’re really into that, you are in for a treat.
The writing style is really fresh and fun, with lots of pop culture references. Being a little more geeky than girly, some of the fashion terms were kind of lost on me, but I think many girls would enjoy that. I definitely liked the mentions of what perfume and cologne everyone was wearing. Details like that make everyone feel more like someone you actually know. I did notice some grammar mistakes as I went along. There were enough to be noticeable, but not enough to really detract from the story in a major way.
Overall, I enjoyed Anon., and I wish Diamond the best on finishing the second book. I’ll definitely be reading.
This book is such a fun trip down memory lane to my early teenage years. It gives telenovela/wattpad craziness in the best ways possible and is an easy & entertaining book to get swept away by. It's also interesting to look back on this book 10 years later and see how I view characters and their actions differently
This type of genre or style of book is one of my guilty pleasures, so I had a love/hate relationship with this book. The characters' actions, the drama in the book made me irritated at times, but entertaining at the same time as well, but I think that was the point, the objective the book was supposed to give you. The book was written in the first person, from a teenager's point of view so it's very, very easy to read. Just the funny and idiotic things the main character does or says made me realize that "Thank god, I've never done those things, because they seem like mortifying situations." The romance in the book was a bit too corny for my taste, but it wasn't horrible. It was a quick read for me and the writing style and just the whole vibe I got from the book reminded me of writers such as Meg Cabot and Sara Dessen. Overall, this book was pretty good and when I read it, I really immersed myself into the book, all my emotions were there. Also, this book was worth purchasing, since I only got it for 4.99. It's only available on kindle though on the amazon website, I hope soon that it becomes paperback. If you're into young adult/teen/love drama books, then you should definitely check this book out.
I started reading this book out of pure nostalgia and it did not disappoint. McKinney delivered on writing a novel that captures the awkward spirit of a late-blooming high school girl. It made me smile all the way through as I recalled my own time in high school boys and it brought back memories of the original Anon series. You can tell this is McKinney in an early stage of her writing career, but it's clear that the talent is there and I'm sure as I read on in the series I'll be more impressed by her improvement. For it to be a seemingly self-published book, its well-written and conveys the feeling of a passion project and you can feel it in the way she characterizes everyone in the story. She gives everyone a personality. If you like a cute, awkward, high school love triangle that gets even messier with the side stories, you should check this one out, especially if you watched the series when you were younger and wanna relive some of those moments, but with greater detail, as the author likely envisioned.
A part of me loved the drama. The other part wanted to love the story, but couldn't see past the errors and the lack of editing on the author's part. Or the language she put in the story.
Although her descriptions of the character and the story painted a clear picture of what was happening, it was like she couldn't think of another description when the characters whispered to each other, other than "whispered screamed". That and the lack of editing kind of ruined the story for me. Unfortunately, I will not be reading the rest of the series.
4 stars for nostalgic reasons, I remember discovering the sims 3 drama series on youtube at age 11 or 12, and I was hooked! Finally decided to check out the book series after all these years. Mannnn, I don't even care that this book was cringe af, I'm gonna read the whole series LOL. Also I'm team Tucker and I want Chelsea to stop two-timing OH MY GOOOD, I literally felt the inner rage of my 12-year old self awakening😭😭

I was excited to read Anon because when I was younger I loved the YouTube series. The first book was really good, the story was a bit differently described than the YouTube videos which made it easy to read right through it. I did not enjoy the, "whisper screamed" or the spelling errors and some of the grammar. Yet given the circumstances I loved the series, I loved the characters and I enjoyed the book. I wanted to support Diamond McKinney and this great series and I will do so again by reading the series.
I read this a long time ago and when I was really invested into the sim series. I may go back and re-read it and continue on with the series. From what I remember, I liked it. Solid 4 stars. Although, I can't remember the differences between this and the video series on YouTube.
It’s a pretty good book! There are a few spelling errors here and there but it’s a self published and edited book so that’s to be expected. I enjoy the series this book is based off of and can’t wait to read the second book!
This really took me back to my junior high days <3 I was obsessed with Sims videos, especially Anon. I remember watching it and rewatching it on YouTube. I am so excited to read the rest of the books to take me down memory lane :,)
I enjoyed all the Anon books. I came across the story originally when it was on YouTube as a Sims 3 series. If you haven’t watched it I definitely recommend so you can see these characters in another universe. It is on Youtube by Diamonnddx aka the author of this series
I loved this book. And coming from me I don't read very much at all. Put aside some of the errors technically and look at the way that Chelsea feels. Diamond really expressed Chelsea's mood and worded this book very well and I LOVE her youtube channel also. I love how she inspired not only us, but herself. With her love for Sims and fashion I think this is the best book I've ever read.
i revisit this series every year around this time and one thing that has never changed is my love for tucker 😭. i completely forgot how much mess happens in book 1. i still think the series on youtube is better, but the slight changes diamond has made i still enjoy.
Love this book it makes you feel like you are in it. My heart stops when Chelsea is with Tucker they are so cute! Hope I can find a love like that one day.
