So close... Joe Tyler is close to finding his daughter. After a narrow miss in Minnesota, Joe follows a money trail to Denver, hoping to finally find Elizabeth, the daughter who was stolen from him nearly a decade earlier. Accompanied by his ex-wife Lauren, he enlists the reluctant help of Elizabeth's friends, only to find that he's missed her. Again. Armed with new information, Joe races to California, desperate to find his daughter. Stymied by roadblocks and dead-ends, Joe soldiers on with his search, realizing there is more than a reunion at stake. He just might be saving his daughter's life. With time ticking and no clear answers in sight, Joe focuses on the one thing he's always held on to – the thread of hope that he'll finally reunite with his daughter and bring her back where she belongs. Home.
Jeff Shelby grew up around the beaches of Southern California and graduated from the University of California at Irvine. He is the author of the bestselling Noah Braddock series (Killer Swell, Wicked Break, Liquid Smoke), the stand alone thriller Thread of Hope, and the Deuce Winters series (Stay At Home Dead), written under the name Jeffrey Allen. He lives in Dallas, TX.
In the span of three books, Jeff Shelby has become one of my favorite authors. Not many fiction authors have been able to convey the angst and emotional upheaval of a father endlessly searching for his missing daughter. While this book is not as great as the previous two in the series, I found myself breathlessly turning over the pages till 'I' got some kind of closure. All I can say is, I'm waiting impatiently for the next in the series!
Joe Tyler's daughter Elizabeth, 9, was taken seven years ago and he's finally close to finding her. But close ain't good enough when she's moving fast. Elizabeth, now 16, has discovered that she was illegally adopted and she's trying to find her way home. Even though she has some memories, and other are surfacing slowly, she doesn't know where her home is. Wherever she's going Joe, with his ex-wife Lauren, is blazing a trail after her, regardless of the cost. One key fact is that both Joe and Lauren have finally come to the realisation that the original abduction was not random - someone close to them, and known to Elizabeth, was involved. It means that the network of helpers Joe has relied up in his hometown of Coronado can no longer be trusted. It gets worse. Whoever was behind the abduction know they are close and has targeted them - and Elizabeth. When you can't trust anyone you'll clutch at straws, no matter the cost. But when push comes to shove it's simple, first, find his daughter - then all Hell is certain to break loose! "Thread of Betrayal" moves at a fast and relentless pace, but Elizabeth stays one step ahead, never realising the danger she is in. It comes to an explosive end and heart-wrenching end ... but it's not quite over yet. 4.5 Stars, brought back to 4 Stars.
Stunning addition to the Joe Tyler series! A masterpiece of storytelling! Jeff Shelby is seriously talented!
After binging the first three books in the best selling Joe Tyler series, it's been a dramatic and emotional ride! I went from page to page and book to book without missing a beat. I became encapsulated the story an obsessed to keep reading! "Hooked" doesn't adequately describe my connection to this story. The physical, emotional and pychological carnage is beyond horrifying. I was deeply invested in the characters, as the complications mounted and the possibility of the long search for Elle/ Elizabeth is painfully near! With the nightmare of the abduction and the emotional damage wrought on the Tylers, conflicting feelings of a happy ending and the reality that after eight years Elle already had a life without them. How would she react to the confusing and difficut circumstances! The eventual reunion is complicated.
Such a good book. Thank goodness they found their daughter. By book 3 I was beginning to get freaked. Enough is enough. The scary dangers out there. Far too real. Horrific. Makes me want to lock my doors and never come out again. I'm so glad they got her back. All the lost souls though, those other young girls. How did they end up like that? What a waste of young lives.
After the first few books this year, these books have been a breath of Fresh air. The story picks up from the end of book 2. Joe Tyler is closer to finding his missing daughter. As a reader you are pulled along by the emotions that the father feels while searching for his daughter. I was hyped for the man as he keeps getting closer to solve the mystery that has haunted him for years.
A roller coaster of a book. Really enjoyed it. Enough detail to make it interesting, but not enough to be classed as waffling to fill pages. Will definitely be reading more of Jeff Shelby's books. Would have read the whole thing in one sitting, but life got in the way. :)
I read this and the other two books in under a week. This book was good because at the very end the parents were FINALLY reunited with their daughter. However, it was a wild good chase getting to that process and it got kind of old that every lead ended up leading them to ANOTHER location where she could be. I, as a fan of this author would much rather have seen her found 1/4 way through this book and then reunited and found out how she was taken in the meantime than have this book written this way and the story dragged on for the 4th book. But, I'm not an author so I guess I can't make that decision. I will definitely check out the 4th book when it comes out though. Love this author and anxious to read some of his other books!

Brilliant !! This whole series of books, this being the third, is nothing short of superb. I've loved each and every one and this one especially warmed my heart as it resolved a lot. Though I'm more than pleased to read at the end that there IS going to be a fourth "Joe" story. Terrific news. My only little gripe is that this one had the most mistakes in it ! What annoyed me the most was that there were a lot of missing speechmarks in it. That hasn't been the case in the previous stories. He also lost a few words from sentences like her and more and the. Not great in a paid for book and I don't expect to see annoyances like this. Despite these I still gave it the 5 stars as it was just a tremendous tale and I'm a huge fan.
Could. Not. Put. It. Down. Seriously- started it this morning and finished within a couple of hours. I just love these characters- Joe and Lauren, the parents. If you're looking for a fast read that will keep you engaged, I highly recommend this. I think it should be made into a weekly TV series. So. Good.
Book 3 in the series. Joe is following the leads that he has found as he hunts for his daughter. He is led to Denver and then out to California. He is now in the company of his ex-wife, whom he still loves. At each turn, they just miss finding her, realizing that they are running out of town, as he life is in danger.
Overall Thread of Betrayal is a very good read. Like the other books in the series, this one is well-written but needs a little editing for grammar and structure. The ending was somewhat abrupt and unsatisfying.
The adventures continues in this 3rd book of the 5 book series! Joe and Lauren finally finds their daughter after 10 years! It was such a roller coaster in finding her! That's what made this book, and frankly the whole series, so appealing. I was hooked! Next up for me, book 4!
Another great installment, I am loving this author and this particular series is packed full of good writing style and flow, great characters, emotion, some good kick-ass action and will leave you wanting to get into the next one immediately to find out the who, what and why of it all.
I was so engrossed in this book, I finished it in two days. Late nights reading but so enjoyable. So what if I woke up groggy in the morning? I had to know how this went. Loved this book!
