I gave this book a 3.5 rating but rounded up.

I received this book from the author for an honest review.

This was my first novel by this author but I am excited to say it will not be my last. I really enjoyed this story of Dylan, the uber sexy alpha male hottie and the hot mess of a girl named Brooke. Brooke is faithful to her DB of a boyfriend until she finds him cheating and then she runs to hottie Dylan for help. I will say that the set up of the book was very rushed and I found it hard to believe these characters were just "Boom" in love with each other. I would have loved the author to take a little more time in the beginning of the book to set up their romance. However, by the end of the book, I feel she slowed the pace down and really did a good job with the relationship development.

When I finished the story I was left going "WHAT!!" I think that Dylan's "job" is a very interesting one and I cant wait to see what happens. I was also very intrigued at what we see on the TV about Brooke's ex and his current girlfriend. The drama will continue with the next book I am so happy to report :)

Deception is one of those books you look at and say you need to read it because the cover is hot. Then you read the blurb and you know you are going to enjoy it. I will go so far as to say that this is a gem of a read because when I started reading it I could not put it down. I had an array of emotions running through me when I started reading it because you get so much meat in the beginning that you already know there is going to be trouble but your not sure what kind of trouble. What unfolds is nothing short of amazing.

Can you imagine being with someone for 11 years of your life? Well Brooke has been with Stefan for 11 years and they have the perfect relationship or so Brooke thought. Brooke is excited because she is going for a job interview at a large firm and she is hoping she will get the job as an accountant. When she gets there to interview she meets the delectable Dylan who is not only an accountant but a body builder and lord he is sex on legs. Brooke is attracted to him but she is with Stefan.

Once the interview is done Brooke gets the job and she is in heaven. Not only will the gorgeous Dylan be training her but there is room to advance in the company and Brooke is determined to work her butt off to advance in the company. As Dylan is training Brooke there is a lot of sexual tension between the two but Brooke has Stefan or does she because she finds out that Stefan has been cheating on her. Brooke will have to make so serious decisions about Stefan. But can she walk away so easily from 11 years with someone? What is going to happen to her and Dylan? If she chooses Dylan will she be able to give him her heart after being broken?

Fixer of Deceit definitely had potential. I liked the concept behind the story and the characters but it just needed a bit more refinement. The whole story felt rushed and everything happened very quickly with little build up of characters and feelings. It is novella length and I think if the author expanded the book a little more to build the relationship between Brooke and Dylan so it didn't feel so insta-love I would have been able to connect more with them. I would have liked to have seen more interactions between Brooke and her family to get an understanding of her past. And while I liked the "fixer" Dylan at the end of the book, I was not so sure about "accountant" Dylan at the beginning. He came across as kinda creepy. Overall it was a quick read that peaked my interest enough to keep me reading through the end.

Deception (#1 The Fixer series) by Alyson Raynes

WHAT THE HELL JUST HAPPENED???

Brooke & Dylan

Ok, where to start... I was feeling a little hum-drum about this one (at first). I had a bit of a problem grasping the insta-relationship that formed! I'm not saying it can't happen, buuuttttt, well, most times there's a larger and longer build up to sex or even the "I love you's" but I'm still ok with it as the story took on more twists as I read deeper into it. This is most definitely a cliffhanger, but certainly worth it!

Brooke was not one of my favorite characters in this story, but it bares mentioning that I did like her and her manner towards certain people and things! She seemed to be one of those girls that needed someone else in her life to make it whole! Someone who was so comfortable in her life that she didn't even see what was really happening around her! Scary shit! Wake up Brooke!!!

Dylan, holy hottness!! Now HE was my favorite character by far. Tall, dark, handsome, wealthy, mysterious, and above all a heart of gold! If I thought all billionaires were like him I'da bagged one for myself years ago... bwahahahaha! Be careful, he's not all he seems to be and this could be a good thing or this could be a bad thing... I'll let you decide!

Good supporting cast in Stefan, Mandy, Tristan, and Brooke's family. Even that evil POS Thomas! Wow, that dude almost made me break my kindle! Every story (I believe) needs a good villain and that doofis is IT!

The story picked up for me around the half way point and thank goodness... I just felt like I need more and Alyson delivered it. I can't wait to dive into #2 Promiscuous. The dialogue is good and the pacing flows nicely after the midway point. It's 99 (Kindle version) pages long and a great intro into this twisted story of deceit, murder, and chaos!

5 fabulous stars and a standing ovation for Alyson Raynes! It’s been a while since I've read a book worthy of a 5 star rating. This novella can be compared to so many books but the two that I kept thinking of while reading was fifty shades and the crossfire series, yet it is also unique in its own way. I was so enthralled with this book that I could not put it down. I ended up finishing it in no time at all.

Brooke is in a relationship that looks like is not going anywhere. She has invested 11 years of her life and hopes someday he will propose. While Brooke interviews for a new job she meets Dylan, who she will be replacing. After their first meeting she finds herself thinking of Dylan more and more and the attraction is mutual. The chemistry between these two is off the charts.

Dylan is not just an accountant in the company; he is also a body builder. Soon he becomes Brooke's knight in shining armor. But the secrets he keeps might me the downfall of the relationship even before they can create one.

This is definitely a must read not only are the sex scenes hot, but the story is so well written it will keep you flipping pages and before you know it you will be done.
Now it’s time to get started on book 2!!!

This is my first Alyson Raynes book and I'm definitely hooked! This is the first book in "The Fixer" series and it was AMAZING!!

Brooke and Stefan have been together 11 years and you'd think you know someone after being together that long. Stefan is a powerful attorney and loves Brooke (or so it appears). He doesn't want to get married because it's only a piece of paper and doesn't really want kids. Brooke wants it all. Brooke has an interview at Prescott Oil as an accountant and one of the interviewers is HOT Dylan Prescott! He's absolutely gorgeous and she just knows she'll screw this interview up! Brooke's parents are wealthy, although her dad really wishes she was a boy and doesn't give her the time of day for that reason. She has a sister, also. However, her dad loves the sister.

Dylan Prescott is an accountant at Prescott Oil. He feels an immediate attraction to Brooke. Dylan also happens to be a playboy billionaire! He definitely has his "secrets".

Dylan and Brooke's relationship moved pretty fast and I loved that!!

I loved this story from the beginning and read it quickly. There are so many twist and turns and jaw dropping moments in this book. I loved Alyson Raynes writing style. Rarely, do I pick up a book and must read it NOW because I'm totally engulfed!! Unfortunately, this is book one in a series...so cliffhanger alert! I will be buying books 2 and 3...NOW!!

Deception is book one in Alyson Raynes “The Fixer” Series. This is the start of Brooke and Dylan’s story that’s full of love, hate, drama and suspense.

Brooke is in her thirties and has been in a….somewhat committed relationship for eleven years. She’s not happy, she’s content and feels safe. Some relationships are bound to change, people change. Brooke doesn’t realize it yet; but, her life will never be the same.

Dylan Prescott is, of sorts, Brooke’s white knight. He’s hot, rich and knows precisely how far to push her. He may come to her rescue but everything isn’t as it seems. Will Deception be their undoing?

This book was definitely an interesting read, full of twists and turns that readers will not see coming. Alyson definitely kept me on edge through the story, revealing bits and pieces of her characters that we don’t expect. While I thoroughly enjoyed this book I didn’t like that Brooke and Dylan went from complete strangers to lovers in an instant. Their relationship needs to be pruned and nurtured as it sets the course for the entire book. With it being hurried it sounded off as I read through the story. I think if their dialogue and relationship were developed and detailed more, it would be a five star book for me.

The concept behind the story is interesting enough to keep me reading but I felt the story need more refinement because the whole thing felt rushed. I guess the best way to put it is i needed more word count to the story to connect better with Brooke and her family.

Um livro esquisito, na minha opinião. Contém leves spoilers.

Brooke viva com Stefan há 11 anos. Ela começou a trabalhar e conheceu Dylan.

Ela pede ajuda pro Dylan, que por sua vez se mostra muito solicito, if you know what a mean...and I mean sex.

Dylan:
- tem um complexo de édipo direcionado pra irmã, porque ele começa pegar a Brooke e logo solta que ela lembra muito a irmã dele...mais de uma vez;
- quando ele brincava com a irmã, na praia, felizes da vida construindo castelinhos de areia, ela se fazia de Princess e ele de vilão que queria matar o príncipe (WTF?!)...aí ele revolve dar um apelido carinhoso pra Brooke: PRINCESS (sério, quase tive um troço rindo disso);
- não sendo suficiente falar com palavras, ele dá um presente singelo pra Brooke: um colar, com uma tiara de princesa...que era da irmã morta dele. (WHAAAAAAAAAAAAT?)
- ele é rico, mas ele é tão rico, que eu poderia dizer que ele é: RYCKOH...e ele gosta de mostrar a ryckeza dele;
- a moça não se separou nem há 10 dias e ele fez o que? a propôs em casamento. E ELA ACEITOU NA HORA

Acho que é o caso de marcar uma consulta com um especialista, porque o negócio tá tenso kkkkkk

Brooke:
- autointitulada cougar, porque ela tem 34 anos e o Dylan 27 (particularmente, me incomoda esse negócio de mulher muito mais velha que o cara, só que ela é tão imatura às vezes que dá até pra esquecer isso);
- ela se comporta como uma adolescente algumas vezes, parecendo que o Dylan é mais maduro que ela;

‘Deception’ is the first book of a new series by Alyson Raynes. Previously released as ‘Fixer of Deceit’ it has come back with a new title and new cover, and I must admit I like the change.

I can’t really go into detail with this review without giving too much away. I did find it slow and hard to get into to begin with, but I continued to read as I wanted to know how the book was going to turn out. And I’m glad I stuck with it. The more I read, the more I fell in love with the story and with the characters.

Brooke couldn’t be happier with her life. She had her boyfriend of 11years by her side and had just landed the job of a lifetime at Prescott Oil and Gas International. It was here that she met Dylan Prescott. As soon as she met him, she could feel the energy igniting between them but tried to ignore it.

“Oh yeah, I remember you. You’re the hot piece of ass I wanted to rip the clothes off of and have my wicked way with on the conference room table”.

But, her loyalty to her boyfriend is admirable and she doesn’t do anything to jeopardise her relationship. However, unfortunately, her boyfriend doesn’t share that loyalty and in the blink of an eye Brooke’s world comes crashing down around her. She has no idea what to do, so she turns to the only person she can think of...Dylan.

Dylan is gorgeous, oh so gorgeous, A competing body builder and just sexy as hell. He starts out as Brooke’s co-worker and after working closely together with her over the course of a year become friends. After he gets a phone call from Brooke, he becomes her protector, and shows that he will do whatever it takes to protect her and keep her safe.

“You are not going back to your apartment and you are not moving in with your friend today. You are coming home with me where I can ensure that you won’t be killed within the next twenty-four hours!”

It’s there safely in his apartment she knows that the attraction between the two of them won’t go unnoticed. It’s just too strong and undeniable how they feel for one another.

But danger comes looking for Brooke and stops her from moving on with her life.

The book is full of twists and turns that will leave you with your mouth hanging open and asking yourself ‘What is going to happen next?’
Yes It’s a short story, which I was able to read in one afternoon, but don’t let that deter you. It was jam-packed full of action, suspense, and drama that will keep you turning the pages until you get to the end.

The reason I could only give it 3.5 stars. I thought at times things were a little rushed and I got a bit confused thinking I had missed out parts. But, I still enjoyed the book and I’m going straight on to read ‘Promiscuous’.

Deception is book #1 in the Fixer series! As always, I am stingy with a 5 star but this was an easy 4.5 for me…I loved it!

Brook is a 30-something year old woman taking her first steps to a career. She has been in a relationship for 11 years with her boyfriend who happens to be a very important lawyer…however; all that Brook knows is not what it seems. Meeting Dylan Prescott is both the best and worst thing for her…but you will have to read it to find out why. A deceptive relationship and newfound desire leave Brook in danger. Though she is a grown woman, her life experience is lacking and she is very immature in many ways. She has had bad things happen to her and in my opinion looks at the world through somewhat foggy rose-colored glasses. I wanted to slap her several times…she was not my favorite character…but I grew to love her strength and stubbornness.

Dylan…OMG! Hot, hot, hot alpha male with a shady side. The sexual tension between him and Brook…yummmm! Strong, protective, romantic…ugh I loved him, but there is so much more to him.

This book had me by the balls from the beginning…thank god I had Promiscuous (Fixer #2) ready and waiting! I could not stop reading…my only dislike is the time frame between their meeting and their getting together, a year passed in the blink of an eye and I felt as though I missed out on something in that time. However, I was completely and totally immersed in the hidden story…I wanted to know more and my mind didn't stop questioning and wondering. This book is not your basic two people meet and have great sex and there is a slimy bad guy in the shadows whose bad intentions are thwarted and that's the end…nobody is what they appear to be, there are characters you will love and hate…ones that will throw you for a loop and make you question continuously, and there are secrets around every corner. The story line was deep…filled with inner turmoil, unknown external forces, secrecy, and panty dropping sex. It is an intense love story amidst danger and secrets that I would definitely recommend to anyone (18+) who is looking for a well-written read that will suck you in and make you want more. I will not say it is a happily ever after because there is so much left unanswered, but it is not a cliff-hanger that will piss you off either…you will just want Promiscuous right away.

I received an ARC from the author ALYSON RAYNES in exchange for an honest opinion. This is Mismousey's very honest opinion of DECEPTION. Having never read anything that thing Ms. Raynes has written before. I was unsure of what type of author and writer she would be.

Once I opened this extremely interesting book- I quickly found out. I wanted to gobble up this contemporary romance. Ms. Raynes when writing has a way of bringing such love-crime-hatred-mob- all rolled up into one story,

Her characters - are ones that you could see out of today's headline's. Imagine that... Poor Brooke is running and is unable to get a restraining order just because her ex has judges in his pockets. Yup- sure does sound like headlines

The scenes are amazing. As you read- you are able to see everything right before your eyes. The beating-the scene in the judges office- her father laughing at her.

The story opens as we find Brooke in bed with Stefan. He wakes her up as she has an interview with a corporation for acct position. When She finally arrives at the company Brooke finds out that she has an interview with 3 different people. An if they like her answers then she will be offered the job.

Later that day she gets a call from Dylan. He tells her that -they loved her and they are offering her the job if she wants it. She will start the following monday morning.

Her training starts monday and she is doing great. Brooke thinks Dylan is a hot tamale. She wants his body and it turns out he wants her's.

Not soon after they start talking at work-a girl at work by the name of Missy. Tells her that she is Dylan's girlfriend. Brooke tells her ok and says she has a boyfriend by the name Stefan.

Stefan has been staying out late at work. He is always working. He tells Brooke that they really need a vacation. Which she agree's to.

Now this is where it start's to get good. You see- something happens between Stefan- Brooke-Dylan. What you ask? Well if I told you that then I would give away the entire story!!

To find out what happens.YOU HAVE TO READ THIS FANTASTIC-TERRIFIC-EDGE OF YOUR SEAT BOOK!!!
I recommend this book to all readers especially those that love a great romance . Mismousey gives this a firm rating of 70 out of 5 stars.

MAKE SURE TO ADD DECEPTION TO YOUR GOODREADS READING LIST THEN RUN AND GET YOUR COPY TODAY!!!!

Ok, before I get into it too deep…just a little tip, get some ice, a fan or even a coldpack cause “Deception” by Alyson Raynes has got some serious heat. Thank goodness there was a cold front that dropped the temps at my house while I was reading the adventures of Brooke and Dylan, cause I lost count how many times I just had to stand outside in the icy breeze for a few minutes to cool off. Now, as much as I like steam, to keep my attention, I gotta have some substance too, something a little more than just hot air; and admittedly, “Deception” does have a bit of a slow start, but after a few pages in, I just couldn’t put it down!
The more I read about the character Brooke Stone, the more I just really loved her, her honesty, integrity and just innate sense of right and wrong really resonated with me. Brooke also seems to want to believe the best in people, which, granted may be a little naïve on her part, but because it’ just so lacking in today’s society that it’s so refreshing whenever you see a genuine example of it. Brooke’s loyalty to her boyfriend of 11 years, is also a notable character trait, unfortunately, her boyfriend doesn’t share that same sense of loyalty.
And then there’s Dylan Prescott, gorgeous, sexy as hell, wickedly wicked…Dylan. Dylan is Brookes co-worker, and as she later discovers, kinda her boss too. Dylan is a wonderful co-worker and friend, but as he and Brooke work closely together over the course of a year, he discovers that he wants more than just a friendship with Brooke. Soon Dylan becomes Brookes support and protector in a dangerous situation with her ex-boyfriend and will do everything within his power to keep her safe.
I just have to say that I was blown away by how engrossed I became in Alyson Raynes’s “Deception”, which is the first book in her Fixer Series. The book worked out to being about 86 pages on my e-reader, but it just reads like such a longer story. It truly speaks to Alyson’s talent that she could cram so much action, suspense and emotion into that amount of pages… I am still shaking my head in sheer amazement. I am so getting Alyson’s next book in her Fixer Series, because now she’s just know got me hooked!

I would start this saying that i LOVE this book/Novella well i will consider this as a book the characters are perfect and well done, the storyline OMG i really love it, Alyson made a huge book here, the storyline was well written, you don't get lost while reading, it took you into the events that are happening, and i cant tell you i laughed i cried, i was ready to thrown my kindle because there are characters... i won't say names that i hate so much and touch my nerves. but the truth is i couldn't put my kindle down i was so intrigued that i keep reading, i started reading on Monday 27th at 7.30 pm and finished it on Tuesday 28th at 2.30 am and went directly to read book 2.

This story is about Brooke Stone a woman who has the most baggage i ever read and hate that she went through that alone but at same time that's it was make Brooke such a strong female lead, i love her personality, she's sarcastic yet she's kind and devoted i just love her.
And then we have Dylan Prescott OMG what a sex god, he's what every woman need, he's young, sexy, hot as hell, he loves tease Brooke and he loves her more than anything we would do ANYTHING (as we'll see in book 2 too) for her and he's just agh he's a bad boy but so kind and good such a sweet pie.
Of course there are other characters that made this book so great.
(Yes i'm talking about Tristan so please GO and met him and Dylan.)
Brooke's dealing with too much and Dylan its there for her when she needs him the most then they start a relationship and what i like of all this is the connection they had I LOVE IT, it's hard to find a book where you can feel the main characters connection but despite the fact is a novella you can feel it and i love how this two treat each other (remind me mine and my hubby relationship).
this book it's a MUST read i'll highly recommended it, its a quick, beautiful story, that will make you laugh and cried and you would love it.

This is book one in the Fixer series by Alyson Raynes. Since the description on the book was short I don't want to say to much and give anything away. But I will say this; I loved this book. Yes it was a quick short read but there was so much that went on in this book It was completely action packed. There was never a dull moment.

Brooke has spent the past 11 years in a relationship with the same man. The man she thought she was going to marry and spend the rest of her life with. Then suddenly in the blink of an eye it all changes. She has no idea what she is to do with her life now, other than try to get back to normal. But of course, it's never that easy; Brooke is about to learn just that.

Calling upon Dylan to help Brooke with her situation; Brooke soon learns there is a strong attraction between the two of them that can't go unnoticed.

At first I thought I had this story figured out; in which direction it would go. Little did I know, Alyson had other plans for us readers turning us in another direction. This being the fixer series I thought oh here comes a big strong man to the rescue of a helpless women. But, It wasn't that at all. Brooke didn't play the helpless damsel in distress role and Dylan was so much more. That being said, Deception being the title, Brooke feels just that; Deceived.

I finished this book in no time at all. Yes it was a short read, but I have had short reads that can take forever because I can't get into them. I flew through this book. If you are debating on reading this, i suggest quit hesitating, and just do it. I have already downloaded Promiscuous (Book 2) to this series, and can't wait to get started reading it. Keep posted, I am sure my review for book 2 wont take me that long to post!

This is one of those books that you cannot put down because you get enough information to hook you but not answer your questions !!

The age of Brooke and Stefan shocked me I am not used to having that in common !!
Parent issues for Brooke and this was the 2nd book this week I read with that major topic.
The first twist comes out of nowhere BOOM I was not expecting it that soon !!

We start off with the happy couple of 11 years , Brooke and Stefan. They live together at Stefan's place , he is a lawyer and basically supports her but now she is starting a job of her own. Kind of a boring relationship but no sign of trouble , but really it doesn't take long. This is when Dylan comes into the picture , he works with Brooke at his fathers company. He is ridiculously rich on his own and extremely hot !! Brooke is no idiot at the first sign of issues she is gone and leaving Stefan behind. This is when crazy starts happening.

Brooke is staying with Dylan so he can keep he safe , he has a mysterious side to him and to top it off we have no clue who Brooke needs to be kept safe from. Dylan and Brooke take no time waiting to explore their feelings and when they do it is super hot and steamy !! They both fall fast and hard in the midst of pure chaos.

Is Brooke in danger because of Stefan , or her father or is it because of Dylan ?? How many lives will be torn apart until they figure out what is going on ??

I really enjoyed this book , it has the right amount of drama and crazy with some totally hot sex thrown in there !! I also cannot deny the love in this book I is real and raw and new.

It really is a rollercoaster of crazy. Will we ever get the answers ?? Book 2 here I come !!

I just finished Deception and I liked it. There were a few things that were cheesy but it was an overall good read. Brooke has been in a relationship with Stefan for over 11 years. Everything is going well. She gets a new job and ends up training with Dylan. Dylan is a hot badass and she steers clear of him even though he wants her. She finds out that Stefan hasn’t exactly been faithful and confronts him. Little did she know that he has been keeping more secrets and things get out of hand when she confronts him? She is able to get away and calls Dylan for help. What will happen when all secrets are laid out? Who will Brooke be able to trust? You will have to read and see.

Dylan is hot and loyal and he is 7 years younger than Brooke and I really liked that age difference, it was something different for me. Brooke is a sweetheart and honestly no one deserves that kind of treatment. I had felt bad for her. What we find out is that Dylan had secrets and I ended up being surprised by them. I didn’t like that Brooke at times let things go and the secrets was one of them. I felt like that should have been addressed more on her side instead of letting it go in one ear and out the other with her reaction. I did like the story and I thought that it flowed pretty well. At times I did have to re-read some things because I felt that it was rushed and just didn’t make sense to me. Did it take away from the story, at times yes but I was still able to read it and comprehend it.

This is the 1st in the series so I get to read the next one. I honestly cannot wait to see what happens.

I was given this book as an ARC for an honest review.
I gave this book 5 Deceptive Stars.
This is the first book in the Fixer series & also the first book
that I have read from Alyson.

This is Brooke and Dylan's story.

Brooke has been in a relationship for 11 years. But not all is as it seems, she seems to be content with her life and her relationship, until something happens and changes everything.

She is forced to call on a co-worker that is basically a stranger to her. She has been watching him and yes she is attracted to him, but he is still a stranger. Dylan comes to her rescue and saves her. But again not all is as it seems. Can they get past all the deception that is in their lives and make a happy one together?

This book was wow! Just when I thought I understood what was happening something else happened and bam!! It all changed! Nobody in this book is who they say they are!! I think I rated it 5 stars because it wasn't confusing. Although the plot was very deep and things seemed to change at the drop of a hat, it still flowed together well. And these two light up the pages and set them on fire! I can't wait to see what she has coming up for us in book 2 :)

Thank you Alyson for a great book and a start to a amazing series!!
I will be a fan for life<3

For 11 years Brooke has been blind to the real Stefan. Two events will rip the blinkers off and confirm a growing restlessness and dissatisfaction that’s been threading its way through their relationship for some time.

The potential was there.

It ended with a cliff hanger (groan) so of course its only part of a whole.

Needs proof reading too.

Contains explicit sex scenes and profanities.

I'm going to start with the bad and the reason I only gave this book 4 stars, there were points in the story that felt very rushed and not well explained that left me kind of reeling. I like the gritty details and in a few spots this book was lacking in those, glossing over stuff to move on to the next scene.

Now on to the good! This book had me so hooked that I didn't want to stop reading to put my kids to bed (but I did because I had to). This would be a great book to appease my inner teenage girl that likes to rear her head from time to time. I was going to sleep on it before writing my review to see for sure if the book would give me sexy Dylan dreams (I'm pretty sure it's going to) but I was just so excited about writing the review that I didn't sleep on it (plus I think I can edit it later to let you know if I see Dylan in my dreams tonight.

While reading this book, I frequently was reminded of 50 Shades of Grey. Don't get me wrong though, this book is certainly NOT 50 Shades. It is remiscient but I found Fixer of Deceit to be far more original and less repetitive than 50 Shades. If you liked 50 Shades, you will definitely like Fixer of Deceit. I very much look forward to reading more about Brooke and Dylan and will be starting book two tonight, instead of sleeping because I have to know what happens from the cliffhanger at the end.

Overall this is a great book, and I will be keeping it in mind for a re-read the next time my inner teenager comes out and needs to be appeased.

This was a good short story. this was book one of the Fixer series. Brooke has been with Stehan for eleven years and often wonders why he doesn't propose to her so they can be married. She gets an excutive job with a oil company and they go to celebrate. When they get home he is tired so he goes to sleep and Brooke is watch tv. She hears talking in the bedroom and goes to the door and listens to find out Stehan is cheating on her with his new assistant, Amber, of course she is outraged and hurt. She doesn't know what to do so she text's her new friend at work Dylan. He meets her the next day to find out what is going on and they have lunch. Later on Brooke is waiting to talk to Stehan to him about what she now knows about him. When he doesn't return she goes to his office and his car isn't there. As she is leaving she sees it down the street at the local hotel. when he looks out the window and she sees what room they are in she goes and knocks on the door and when it is open she rushes in and starts hollering names at the girlfriend. He gets mad and pulls her back by her hair and tells the girlfriend to get out. Then he attacks Brooke and hits her and leaves several marks on her. She runs out and stops at a parking lot and calls Dylan and he comes and picks her up and takes her home to protect her from harm, since he threatened her. The story goes on from there. It centers on Dylan and Brooke and their relationship and being on the run and hiding from Stehan. It is a good story

Deception is book one in the Fixer series. Deception is the story of Brooke Stone and Dylan Prescott. In the beginning of Deception Brooke is involved in a long term relationship with her boyfriend Stefan. Brooke loves Stefan and is very loyal to him. She is also very naïve. When Brooke starts working at Prescott Oil and Gas International. She meets Dylan Prescott. These two had an instant attraction to each other. The sexual tension was HOT!!! I found I had to cool off a few times.

When Brooke catches Stefan cheating, she tries to break tings off with him. When this happens Stefan changes into someone Brooke doesn't know. He hits her and attempts to rape her. Brooke does get away and calls Dylan. This is how their relationship starts. Dylan wants to protect Brooke and he means to.

Can I just say DAMN, I LOVED Dylan... He is the hot, alpha male I am drawn to when I read. I love the domineering man.

Now like I said the sexual chemistry between these two is off the charts HOT!!! But, besides the hot sex, their is a nice story plot that pulled me in from page one. I could hardly believe that this is Alyson Raynes first book. She has blown me away!! I can't wait to get my hands on Promiscuous. Book two in the series. I gave Deception 5 fantastic stars!!

Deception revolves around Brooke, who has a troubled past and is estranged from her father. Despite her troubles, Brooke goes on to live a good life. She has a successful attorney boyfriend named Stefan and starts a new job where she’s working with her sexy boss Dylan. Brooke is attracted to Dylan, yet she doesn’t act on her feelings because of her relationship with Stefan. However, Brooke learns Stefan’s true colors and she’s in fear for her life. Dylan comes to her rescue and as he helps her, the two of them bond. Yet, Brooke and Dylan’s newfound relationship is threatened by Stefan and a secret Dylan’s keeping.

The premise of the story is good; however I felt that it was a bit too short. I liked Dylan and Brooke’s relationship and how he was her knight in shining armor. I loved how he took care of her and stood up for her. But I felt like they moved too fast in their relationship, I would’ve liked if they took more time to get to know each other before they became intimate.

As for Stefan and Brooke’s father, the author did a good job of making you hate them. I was angry with the way the men treated Brooke and I was waiting for them to get what was coming to them.

The ending set up for the next volume in the Fixer series and I’m anxious to read what’s going to happen with Brooke and Dylan, and if she can survive the reveal of his secret.

Grammar/editing: D – many errors, some distraction

During the interview for her first job after completing her college degree, Brooke meets Dylan, aka "the sex god." Dylan is a competing body-builder who is seven years her junior, and the attraction is mutual. When faced with betrayal by her current boyfriend, she texts Dylan to assist her in getting away. He acts the part of her white knight, but his secrets may doom their relationship before it can begin.

I read this book in one sitting. It is a fast-paced novella with a very good tale to be told. Some parts did seem to be rushed. I think it would benefit author and reader to take the time to develop the relationships and situations that are being presented. There were also some questions of realism. I understand that this is fiction, but nobody is going to pay off a million dollars of debt in 17 years working at a print shop. That being said, I did love the story and the characters. The next book in the series, PROMISCUOUS, will be my next read and I'm looking forward to the secrets that will be revealed and more of Brooke and Dylan's strong temperaments

~~OUR 3 STAR RATING~~

Brooke Is Starting A New Job And Being Attracted To Coworker/interviewer was Not Part Of The Plan Especially When She Has A Boyfriend At Home. As Time Goes By And She begins To Be Suspicious Of Stepfen She Looks For Him At Work And Finds Him in A Compromising Position And Things Go Downhill Fast. With No One Else Left To call She Calls Dylan And He Becomes Her Knight, But A The Situation Becomes More And More Intense Can She Really Even Trust Him?

Brooke Was A Mix Of Strong Female Lead At Times And Weak At Others. Watching Her Up's And downs You Wonder If She Really Even Knew What She Wanted At Times. Dylan Was A Mix Of Sweet And Caring, Alpha Male And Pompus Ass. I Loved Him At Times And Wanted To Strangle Him At Others. The Basic Storyline Is Interesting But Where I Got Lost Was The Details, Little Things To Help You Feel A Better Connection To The Characters. At Times I Also Got Confused As To The Timeline, She just Started Working With Dylan and Then suddenly It's Been Nearly A Year. Interested To See Where Thing Go But Hope Some Of The Problems I Had With This One Will Be Ironed Out In The Next.

What happens when you realize that the man you love and have been living with for 11 years is not who you think he is. That is what happens to Brooke Stone. She thought she had it all until one day changes all of that.

Brooke Stone landed an amazing job but in the process is exposed to the sexy Greek god, Dylan Prescott. Brooke has always been faithful to her boyfriend Stefan but Dylan causes her to have wicked thoughts about him.

Dylan Prescott is what ever girl wants in her bed and life. He seems to have it all. So why can’t he have Brooke has more than just his friend? He will do anything to protect her and show her what a Princess feels like.

Stefan shows a side to Brooke that she has never seen. He is bad news. But he has power to do what he wants. And stops at nothing to get what he wants…….Brooke alive or dead.

As the story unfolds rather quickly, there are twist and turns. Dylan tells Brooke a secret about himself. A shocking image of Stefan is shown. There are so many more secrets left to uncover. I can only imagine how this will all play out. Looking forward to discovering the truth in the next book.

Let me first say that my copy of this book is part of set that was a limited addition called "Playing with Fire: Romantic Suspense Novels that Sparked Bestselling Series" which all the profits went towards RAINN: Rape, Abuse, & Incest National Network- The nation's largest anti-sexual assault organization. I bought the set because of the cause and before I had ever heard of any of these authors. I think that it is awesome that these ladies did this.

I love reading boxed sets because you never know what your going to find. I have read two books in the set so far and have found two authors that I will definitely be following and getting books from and yes Alyson Raynes is one of the two authors.

This book is pretty awesome and I cannot wait to feast my eyes on more from the Fixer Series! I think the plot has some really great twists and a bunch of "holy craps"! There are characters in this book you are going to just love and a few that you want to smack. Perfect writing style for me and did not get bored at any time of this story.

I won a copy of this book and decided to pick it off my shelves to read as it was a short book I figured it would be a good 'in between books' kinda book!

The synopsis is pretty great as you can see but I found this book left me feeling ... disappointed!
this is my first novel by this author so I didn't know what to expect ... I enjoyed the idea of the storyline but the characters seemed a little flat and I had a hard time believing that they fell in love SO quickly.
Brooke is abused and scared by her long term boyfriend when she calls Dylan .. who she tells her friend is a gentleman but he seduces her that very night? WHAT?
also, at one point, Brooke tries to convince us she's not the kind of woman who 'accepts expensive gifts'
but she sure didn't take long to accept a $150000 car!?!?! one sentence of protest ... Wow!
Everything happens so fast that it feels forced and unbelievable

However, all is not lost ... this author has a creative mind and I do want to know what happens next
