Fascinating exploration of the somewhat short lived German expressionist movement. I took several classes of Professor Sokel at UVa in the 80s, so reading this book reminded me of many of his lectures. As he was one of my most favorite and influential professors, this was almost a nostalgic walk down memory lane of my college days. And reading his words, I could almost hear him lecturing in his wonderful Austrian dialect in a long ago classroom in New Cabell Hall.

This book is pretty freakin' rad. I needed to know what was up with expressionism, and fast, and it totally did the trick. Way to go, Walter Sokel!
