Tangled Sheets - 2 /5 - So we start with Cole Winston, owner of the bar where shy and sweet Sophie hangs out. She wants nothing more than to lose her virginity to Cole, but she’s too shy and he hasn’t shown any interest. So she pretends to be her pretend twin sister, act sexy and entice him to make love to her. She doesn’t realize that Cole is supposedly in love with her and she’s making things worse for herself. For a lot of people, this is probably a cute and fluffy story with an endearing case of mistaken identity or something. It don’t work that way for me. I get peeved by the idiocy. First of all that Sophie feels the need to play a silly game like that and to deceive a friend that way because she wants to have sex. It’s not played like she’s being manipulative, but it still feels all kinds of wrong, no matter the motivation. Then of course the inevitable jealousy of herself as it seems Cole prefers her twin over her...I just can’t sympathize. But more than that, I had issues with Cole and his reactions. First of all, for him to be mooning about how he can see himself spending his life with Sophie and how much he loves her and wants her...and then in walks Shelley (the supposed twin) and he finds himself ready to screw her up against a wall. So much for his love for Sophie. Yeah we know they’re the same person, but he doesn’t. If you love a person enough, that should override the chemistry that draws you to someone else. It was just a dickhead move...and he was able to justify it later when he found out she was lying. Then instead of being upfront and honest and declaring his love for her, he decides he loves her so much that their first time together should be while he’s pretending to think she’s someone else. It just destroyed all the romance of a first time together because it’s all based on a lie. She’s lying her face off to him, he’s lying to her and how is this supposed to be a fond memory to look back on? This just was not a story for me. It was short, it was kind of sexy, but the game playing, the lies and my seeing Cole’s actions as cheating, kinda got in the way of my enjoyment here.
Tangled Dreams - 2 /5 - So Allison is a virgin who talks to ghosts and they want her to find a treasure map, but she needs to have a “passionate” moment in order to find it. So they encourage her to go after the guy she’s hot for, Chase Winston. He’s never noticed her, but only because she seems so vanilla, and he likes to be in control and dominate in the bedroom. Allison finds she doesn’t mind and he ties her up and takes her virginity and she loves it. But I did have a problem because as much as she loved it, I didn’t get that she really loved it. I mean, it was her first time, she wanted to explore and touch him and he shut it down. I didn’t care for that really (but I don’t typically care for domination). I also didn’t like how suddenly they’re in love right after they have sex and they know nothing about one another.
Tangled Images - 3 /5 - So at last, the redeeming story of the trilogy. Mack is the youngest and gets roped into modeling male lingerie for one of his sister-in-laws. He realizes when he shows up that the photographer is Jessica Wells, an older woman whom he shared a photography class with back in college and who never gave him the time of day, no matter how much he flirted. He also never forgot about her, always thinking of her as his dream girl. So he has a chance to finally get to know her and see if they can spark. But first, he has to crash through the bitter hostility since she thinks him as a feckless womanizer. This was pretty good. Jessica definitely made some incorrect assumptions about Mack, but soon realizes that she’s projecting insecurities and that Mack is determined to be a part of her life. The relationship moves pretty fast and Mack seems kinda pushy considering those insecurities, but it’s a novella, so that’s to be expected. It’s way better than the first two.

i loved this book so much because it was a great love story. i have not read a great love story in a long time. i have not read this author before but i will be reading more of her in the future. i can not wait to read the last book in the series. she is such a great of love stories that makes you feel like you are living in the same memory as the people who are in the book.
This book has 3 novella's for three of the Winston Brothers Mack, Colee and Chase with a sneak peak at Zane's story at the end. This is a older book originally released in 2001 i believe. I'm always trying to catch up on the back lists of authors i really enjoy. I walked up to my bookshelf and snatched this one off the shelf
the other day and began to read. It was a quick one afternoon of reading.
First up is Tangled sheets which is Cole Winston's story. Cole is the oldest and took over raising his brothers when he parents were killed. He bought a bar to earn a income and all the brothers work there. Sophie is the boutique owner up the street. Looking and acting prim and proper she comes to the bar every afternoon for hot chocolate and to unwind. Secretly she is watching Cole and wanting him. She thinks he's out of her league though and isn't sure how to go after him. Little does she know Cole wants her too. The bar is hosting a Valentine's day photo contest. Winner would get a night on the town with Cole. Just what Sophie wants. She comes up with a crazy scheme of pretending she has a twin sister who is much wilder than her. Someone Cole would want. She justs wants one night with Cole because she doesn't think she can get anymore than that. If she only knew what Cole thought of her. It gets fun seeing how it all plays out. The brothers are great. Sophie and her friend are pretty cool. All in all a fun little story.
Next up is Tangles Dreams which is Chase Winston's story. This one is set at Halloween time and he suddenly finds himself attracted to Allison Barrow. His sister in law Sophie ( from Tangles Sheets) best friend. This one has a bit of a paranormal twist. There are ghosts in Allison's house. She can talk to them and see them if they choose. They are a friendly couple too. Chase finds suddenly though that he can hear Allison's thoughts and that her thoughts are all about him. Doesn't bother him because his thoughts are about her too. It gets interesting with the ghosts the other boyfriend and some jewels. Oh and a gun. Little off the wall but a fun read none the less.
Last in this book is Tangles Images Mack's story the baby of the family. Mack is a school teacher or he is trying to be one. He is doing his student teaching and having a hard time with the school's administrator. While he waits to see if he gets approved for teaching he finds himself doing a favor for his 2 sister in laws, Sophie and Allison.( From the previous two novella's) They want him to model some men's lingerie for a photographer so they can make a catalog for their boutique. He find himself stuck doing it and gets a surprise when the photographer in question turns out to be old classmate from college that he had the hots for. Jessica Wells is divorced with a 13 year old daughter. She gave up her college chance when she got pregnant and married years ago.She ignored him at school because he was so carefree and she had to struggle to get through. Women through themselves at him and then there was the fact that she was several years older than him. Mack doesn't let her off the hook though. He tempts her with all the provocative little scraps of underthings he has to wear for the photo shoot and she can't resist eventually. It's fun to watch Mack try to get Jessica to see age is only a number. Great little fun read.
If your looking for a relaxing fun and a bit crazy off the wall read. This is is. Plus 4 HOT Winston brothers. What's not to like? I sat and read this in one afternoon. No hard thinking just a lot of reading enjoyment. 4 out of 5 Modokker Book Pick stars for The Winston Brothers. Now i have to go find and read Zane's book. Brother number 4! Find out more about Lori Foster and her other books on her website here.www.lorifoster.com
I'd heard a lot about Lori Foster from a friend, and so was curious as to how good her writing was. I've also noticed how completely unsatisfied I am with the bits and pieces of romance that I've been reading in my usual action/adventure/fantasy books, and so decided to take my friend's advice and give this a try.
To put it simply, it was mindless entertainment. :P The book was basically nothing but romance, relatively well-written, that lacked any semblance of reality. Well, maybe that's putting it too harshly- but I highly doubt men who happen to look like Greek gods are going to waltz into my life anytime soon and claim undying love for me. Oh, and be financially stable. And educated. And have sparkling personalities. Yeah. No. :P
But I guess that's why we read romances like this don't we? To have ourselves believe, if even for the measly time it takes us to finish these novels, that men like that actually exist and are indeed, searching the entire world looking for US simply because no other woman has ever caught their eye. So I joined the throngs of women who read these things, and for the time it took me to read this, believed.
This is a good book to curl up with on a day when you have absolutely nothing else to do and want to kill some time. There weren't too many groan-worthy moments, which is saying something, since I find that the vast majority of romance novels ooze cheesiness. Foster gave her leading men some good lines too- lines that men in real life would probably never even think of. :P The women were tolerable and had some characteristics I could sympathize with. Other than that, it's not a book that'll stay with me for the rest of my life. Just something that I read because I was on vacation and was in the mood for mushy sap. :D
I love how this book jumps right into the action. There is no pussyfooting around, talking about inconsequential details; no setting of the stage just immediate action. This is the major benefit of short stories. The reader is thrust straight into the sexual desires of Sophie and Cole in “Tangled Sheets.” This first story is all about having the courage to go after what you want and not being afraid of being yourself. The second story, “Tangled Dreams”, stars Chase and Allison, and is about having faith in the person who you like/love and opening your mind to adventure. Chase made me do some soul-searching. He’s kinky and demanding. But the way Foster made him I wouldn’t mind entertaining his whims. I’m not in to what he’s in to but I wouldn’t mind giving him a chance to convert me! The third story in The Winston Brothers was “Tangled Images.” This was Mack and Jessica’s story. It felt rushed to me. The story was too brief and that caused it to seem superficial. I did not get the opportunity to really connect with the characters. I would have liked to learn more about the characters, so I could get attached to them like I did with the characters in the first two stories. Overall, Lori Foster has created the ultimate fantasy, intuitive, hard-working, family-oriented men who go after what they want. I would love to have a Winston brother of my own and am looking forward to reading about Zane, the fourth Winston brother, in Wild!
What can I say about Lori Foster that I didn't said before. She is literally a magician. I enjoy every single one of her books. And this one with the 1st three Winston brothers did not failed my expectations. I looove this book 😍😍😍!
Read years ago and rereading some off this authors books. Enjoyable and entertaining short read. I enjoy all these interrelated books by this author and am pleased to see more are being added or re-released. 1 - TANGLED SHEETS A fun and cute read with interesting characters. Not quite sure about Sophie and her silliness but at least she was able to face Cole and was honest. Two people who couldn’t be up front about wanting the other, until Sophie pretends to be her non-existent more outgoing twin sister. Love the other brothers and cannot wait to read their stories. I read these years ago and wanted to review as I am rereading them but this book is not available that I can find.
2 - TANGLED DREAMS Though lacking a lot of depth and background this is a fun entertaining read. Loved the ghost and hidden jewellery side of this and thought Rose and Burke’s passionate love was wonderful. Chase's and Allison know each other as Allison is a friend and business partner of Sophie from book one. Allison has been in love with Chase for months but Chase likes to be in charge in the bedroom and believes Allison is too vanilla for his tastes. When the ghosts interfere and allow Chase to hears Allison’s thoughts about him, everything changes and the Winston curse gets another brother.
3 - TANGLED IMAGES Mack is the baby of the family, so we seem to be missing out on Zane as the next one to fall. Mack is a new teacher awaiting a position that is being denied him as he is too modern for the stuffy principle. Two years ago in college, he lusted after another student in photography class who was older than him. With some helpful meddling from Sophie and Allison, his two sisters in law, he gets to spend time with Jessica, the object of his affections form back then. Sophie and Allison get Mack to agree to be the model for an underwear catalogue shoot for their boutique. The photographer is Jessica. I didn’t feel the modelling really made the story which I expected it to do. There was actually a better feel for me with him helping Jessica’s daughter Trista, with her grades. I liked that some time had passed since the last book and that Mack had grown up more. Not that he was immature back then but I feel he needed those years. It was fun to watch Mack prove to Jessica that he was serious about her. Nice epilogue but I would love Mack to get the chance to punch the ex in the nose.
It was nice to catch up with the Winston brothers again. I really liked reading them again after so many years. They are awesome and sexy. I'm looking forward to Zane's turn for the Winston curse. I would recommend this story to any adult reader that enjoys sexy romances.
This is a great read. Four short stories with great endings. Love amongst the brothers and how their families grew together. I recommend this book for a rainy day read.
These three short novella were very cute. I loved all the characters, and the storyline was just so funny and romantic. Of course it was a series and I can’t wait to read the rest of the Winston family ! Thanks
This is a 3 story anthology about....the Winston brothers. There are actually 4 of them, but only 1 rates a full length novel.
Tangled Sheets - 3 stars. An ok story. This one is about Cole who raised his 3 brothers at age 22. Now he's 36 & ready to look for love. Sophie is 26 & owns a lingerie shop not far from Cole's bar. She decides she's too shy to approach Cole about something more than a friendship. So, she makes up a story about a twin sister, then becomes everything she isn't. Confidant, sexy & forward enough to ask for sex. Only she didn't really think things through. Now she's jealous of herself!
Tangled Dreams - 4 stars. This is actually my favorite. LF takes a stab at a paranormal. Chase is the next oldest brother at age 27. Allison is 25. Allison has a ghost problem & Chase helps her out with it. Better than you'd think!
Tangled Images - 2 stars. My least favorite. This is the youngest brother, Mack's story. The female lead comes off as a bitch & is forever whining about how much older she is to Mack ( he's 24, she's 30. Whoopee) Not really interesting.
I don't really understand why she couldn't give all 4 brothers a full length novel. These 3 stories would have been better if they'd have been more fleshed out.
I loved the first story, about Cole and Sophie. It's really romantic, and really steamy. The ending was almost perfect, but something about how he asked her to marry him really made me cringe - not quite sure what, but it hasn't hampered my enjoyment of it. I will re-read this one again and again and still enjoy it.
The second story was totally unexpected, and a little weird, but I still enjoyed it - perhaps because it was so different. A couple of the themes in this one are dealt with in greater length in other Lori Foster books, so perhaps this was prior to those. I'm not as crazy about this story as the first one, but curiously it still hit the spot.
The last story was good, and had all the right ingredients, but was just missing something for me. Perhaps that's only in comparison to the first two.
All in all, I really enjoyed these three short stories. I am in awe of how Lori Foster manages to create fully believable characters, swoonworthy men and a great love story in so few words.
3 short novellas, not much character development and sketchy plots make this kind of hard to believe. First story in the book is better than the second and third is the best of the three. The author has written many other stories which are far better. It's too bad that she didn't take the third story and make it longer, giving a more in depth look at these three characters and develop the plot more. It had a lot of unfulfilled promise and could have been turned into a full length book without the other two stories. The second story was horrible, she tried to write about mind reading and ghosts and it just was not believable. Add to that the poor plot line and the lack of character development, it was a struggle to get through it. I usually enjoy this author's writing but this book feels like it was churned out to meet a deadline and not much effort went into it.
I love Lori Foster, but these brothers weren't as hot sexy as some of her other characters. I loved the first novella the most, and also Mack's story (the third novella). but the Chase story was a bit rushed for what she was trying to do, and as a result there was no background for Chase and Allison to fall in love. He just basically fell for her that night, while she supposedly liked him from before but still... there was way more build up in the 1st novella (Cole) and hence why it was the best! mack was a cute character and I like his infatuation with an older woman, it was endearing. read if nto for the stories, definitely to get another round of Lori Foster uhhh-mazing one liners! She is an absolute pro in 'scorching hot' metaphores ;)
1 - Tangled Sheets - Cole and Sophia have known each other for seven months. Everyday she comes into his bar for hot chocolate. Both have big plans for Valentine's Day and Shelly makes a brief appearance. Picture #1 for Valentine's contest. 2 - Tangled Dreams - is Chase's story. Allison inherits a haunted house with some interesting ghosts. Rose makes sure Chase can hear Allison 's dreams. Jake turns out to be after the jewelry. 3 - Tangled Images - is Mack's story. Mack gets roped into doing a photo shoot with a woman he met in college as the photographer. Between some meddling and issues from her past, things have a way of working out. Zane only brother without story. His is a stand alone called Wild!
Wow....all 3 books were good. I have to say that I laughed at all of them, but Chase & Mack's were hilarious. Chase had to deal with Allison's ghosts & Mack had to deal with modeling men's underwear for the woman he couldn't get out of his mind since college Jessica. Cole had to deal with Sophie's twin sister which she didn't really have to finally get her to admit that she had feelings for him, Chase had to put up with being able to read Allison's mind & Mack had to deal with Jessica's idea that he was just like her no good cheating ex husband only out for a good time while modeling men's sexy underwear. Talk about a hoot. A definite read if you want a feel good book, I enjoyed it immensely. Can't wait to read Zane's story...come on indigo deliver my book quick.
Cole Winston's story read August 2nd 2011: Sophie's self esteem issues were a little over the top but, sadly, realistic. Cole handled everything as he should have, so good for him. A cute story, all in all.
Chase Winston's story read September 6th 2011: As unrealistic as they get, but still a fun story to read. The twist was a liiiittle bit over the top but we got our HEA so no harm done.
December 30th 2011: The third and last story, Mack's, is the one I liked most. It's sweet and simple if a little naive and ensured Mack's HEA which he earned.
Zane, who is the last single brother, gets a whole book of his own. I'm curious to see what kind of woman brings him to heel...
In a compilation of anthology stories, Lori Fosters brings this family to life. The way Lori writes from a male point of view is incredible, and has me constantly guessing what these hero's will be up to next. With the Winston family, she has created a wonderful family, who you at times want to cuddle up and hug, and at others just reach out and smack them. LOL, and she's given them the perfect heroines. This is a not to be missed book, and it's follow up, by Wild, which is about the youngest Winston, will leave you craving even more.
Loved these stories! Sam was too cute in "My house My rules" Thinking he is sooo big and bad and gonna scare away the little Ariel! Huh! We are made of stronger stuff! Gil was so funny, telling himself he didn't want the girl of his dreams. because she wasn't what his corporate image needed. Love doesn't let you pick and choose! And Pete, Well, he finally found his HEA, great read, as always from Lori!
Another really cute brother series for Lori Foster. I really thought Tangled Sheets (Cole's story) was really cute until I read Chase's story, Tangled Dreams. Now THAT was cute! and Mack's story was just plain HILARIOUS! All 3 were short, sweet and to the point. The only one I would have liked to have been longer was Chase's story but that just cuz I got a real kick from Rose and Burke's story! ;) lol
Each steamy story about bar owning brothers got better than the previous. All had good plots so my rating 3.5* 1) Cole and boutique owner Sophie ... skimmed some pondering. 2) Chase and Allison ... gimmick for internal thoughts. 3) Mack and photographer Jessica ... love when male pursues older woman.
