I really enjoyed this study on David. Beth Moore has a way of drawing out insights from passages that I just read straight through because they are so familiar to me. David was an incredible man, both in his times of sin and his times of obedience. He swings from one extreme to the other, much more than most of us do, but there are some valuable lessons to be learned from his life. I recommend this book.

I've done David studies before. 1 & 2 Samuel are actually some of my favorite books of the Old Testament. This is a good, quick daily study. I always like Beth Moore's perspective and way she ties historical facts to help you realize and apply Old Testament truths to living in today's world.

I can see why God loved David so much. Even though David was a sinful man, he always recognized his sin, repented, and asked for forgiveness. He was obedient to his LORD. This book is supposed to be a 90 day devotional, but it took me 180 days to get thru it. Beth skipped chapters in the books of Samuel, so I had to go back and read them, write a synopsis in the notebook for personal clarity and a timeline. I wrote Biblical summaries of skipped chapters, quotes, prayers, Scriptures, and personal research notes in my 5 section notebook. I fell totally in love with the history presented and with the Old Testament. I will be looking for study books on other Books in the Old Testament and if I can't find any, I will attempt to write one. This means hours at the library doing research. Loved this book and recommend it to anyone wondering about God's love for David and the part the prophet, Samuel, played in his life. Be prepared to spend some time with David because one you start, you'll want the book to never end!

I have to say that I enjoy both Beth Moore's in depth studies and the devotionals. I use this as a great way to start my day and get into my prayer time. If you are looking for a study to do, keep in mind this is more a devotional type daily workbook/journal than one of her in depth series like the Daniel study. I highly recommend it though. It's great to look back through the journal and see how God has already moved in my life.

This was my first Beth Moore study and I really enjoyed it. There is a lot to learn from the characters of the Bible and David is no exception. I remember feeling a strong desire to worship with abandon after having gone through the study of David, he was an extraordinary man.

This is just a taste of Beth Moore's potential. I felt at times the devotionals were a little too simple and short, but obviously this is because it's a devotional book, as opposed to an actual Bible study.

Loved it! It's a toss up between this 90 day journey with Dave and the 90 day journey with Paul as to which I enjoyed more. The format is excellent and helps me to gather my thoughts on the topics discussed.

Is there anything more humbling and inspirational than studying the life of David. I did this study with some of the extra "home" time I had while on maternity leave. So thankful for how God used it to teach and shape me.

This book has a really nice layout. A scripture reading, a couple of generic questions around that reading, a lesson, and then a page for a somewhat guided prayer. It's an excellent for someone looking for a devotional that will take 15-20 minutes.

That said, I had some problems with it. The first is that Ms. Moore refuses to look through the lens of politics to explain some of David's behavior, such as reuniting with Michal. David was a king, he had to think carefully of his rather precarious political position when he made choices. Moore incessantly looked at him as only a man - a daddy, a lover, a son, a friend, a brother. He was more than those things because of the role he chose to play in the broader world. Her desire to make him relatable tipped him precariously close to unreal. The second is that she does not cover his last words, preserved for us in First Kings Chapter 2. Moore ends on a high note, David's life on a more controversial one. It was disappointing to get to the end of the book and not see that included.

Also, this is essentially the same lessons as in the Seeking A Heart Like His study . I enjoyed seeing the slight differences and changes between the two but some might not like reading/doing two such similar works.

This book is amazing! I was looking for a book that gave more of a commentary of the life of King David and a woman in the bookstore recommended this. It's perfect! Each section starts with verses in Samuel to read and then goes through an explanation of how that is relevant to us today. I expected to learn more about King David when this book actually helps us understand more of God's relationship with us! I recommend this book.

I found this Beth Moore Bible study in a flea market for $1.25!!! I love the study of David. This Bible study was good because it gives you a section to read IN the Bible, then you reflect on it, then you read the author’s commentary. It ends with a verse to pray and a notes section where I would write my praises and prayers for the day. Love!!

Beth Moore does a wonderful job taking you into the life of David as well as other key characters of this time period. From the beginnings of Samuel to the triumphs and pitfalls of David to his heir Solomon, it left my husband and I longing to "dance like David."

I appreciate her attention to detail and ability to break down difficult parts of scripture into my tangible and "readable" terms, but there are instances where the questions asked do not make much sense.

I would certainly recommend this study for anyone who wants to have a heart for God like David did.
