If Gwen catches her prey, God help him. Gwen met her match a year ago. Like most wolf shapeshifters, they knew upon contact they were mates but Colby hadn’t stuck around to bond. He’d dumped her and her whole pack knew it. Never one to cry surrender, Gwen goes on the hunt to find out exactly what sent him running. Hopping from country to country, she chases him until she loses his scent. Unable to return home with her tail between her legs, she takes a job guarding the newest member of the Nosferatu vampire clan in New York City to keep him out of trouble. Colby is hunting the vampire who kidnapped Red, a member of his slayer team, but every turn he takes leads him back to the one person he’s been trying to avoid. Gwen.
Annie Nicholas hibernates in the rural, green mountains of Vermont where she dreams of different worlds, heroes, and heroines. When spring arrives the stories pour from her, in hopes to share them with the masses one day.
Mother, daughter, wife are some of the hats she happily wears while trudging after her cubs through the hills and dales. The four seasons an inspiration and muse.
I really liked this little story that involves Colby and Gwen, and I hope Mutt will be in the future also! Anyway the next book will see Connie and her lovers again, but one can always hope....
This was a real nice SS to tie up some lose strands and getting to know some of the bi characters in an awesome way.
I had a great read with this, it was fast paced with a fun beat and you got to see into the shifter world in this series. You also learned a lot about the nosferatu, that was really neat.
Although very short, I loved ... just I stays wanting to know more about Mutt ... I would love to read more, what will happen next ?... What will follow the life of this Nos so different, so human ...
The love story of Gwen and Colby. Gwen is hunting Colby. He is her mate and every time she find him is run. They are in New York and they must find Red, the leader of the Slayers. Can they join forces? Great story.
We met Gwen in book 2 where she was the guard of Tane. We also learned that she was a wolf shifter that couldn’t shift. When she and Colby met we learned that Colby was a shifter as well and that he “smelled weird.” Gwen knew from the moment they first met that he was her mate. Wolf shifters mate for life but he took off and she went “Hunting” for him. This book takes place close to a year later. Colby has always stayed one step ahead of her and she’s finally decided to give up thinking that the feelings are not mutual. She’s ashamed and broken hearted but she refuses to go home with her tail between her legs. Her refusal to go home leads her to be trainer so to speak to the new “baby” Nosferatu Vampire named Mutt. Mutt isn’t like others of his kind as Gwen soon realizes. He has a heart and cares about what others think about him and also what they do to each other. Unlike most Nosferatu Vampires, he also cares about humans. Gwen is training him in New York and it turns out that they just so happen to be looking for the same vampire that Colby is currently seeking and he’s there as well.
One of Colby’s team members has gone missing. They knew that he was supposed to meet with Alcide who is a friend of Mutt. Red has now disappeared and Alcide isn’t answering his phone either. Both human and vampire slayers now must work together to find out what really happened.
Will this be the moment that Gwen has been waiting and hoping for since her first meeting with Colby. Will she be able to claim him as her mate or will he run off and deny her once again. Each wolf has only one true mate, will her disability keep her being with hers? This was a great side book about Gwen and Colby. I enjoyed the way that all of the characters came together once again meaning when Gwen caught scent of Colby once again and knew that he was in the city. I also enjoyed Mutt, you knew from the beginning that he had a sensitive side and was more than you average Nosferatu Vampire. He’s more like Tane was towards the end of book 2. I can’t wait to read Release which takes us back to the story of Connie, Rurik and Tane!
Gwen is a Shifter who cannot shift. She is a guard for Tane - Nosferatu Vampire and head of the Ruling Class for all Vampires. Mutt was a Vampire and is now a young Nosferatu. Gwen has been assigned to help him with his adjustment to his new life. Colby is the head of a group of Vampire Slayers. He hates Tane who once kidnapped him. Gwen met Colby once and knew immediately that Colby was not Human, he was not only Shifter, but her mate as well. Colby shows no interest in her. Colby and Gwen's paths cross as she is visiting Mutt. One of Colby's team - Red - has been reported missing. Colby believes he has been captured and is being tortured by the local Vampires headed by Cesio. Gwen and Mutt go to visit Cesio and to inquire about Red. In the area many dead humans are being found and many have just disappeared. Is someone making an army of newbie Vampires? Are their uncontrollable blood lusts causing the many deaths? Did Red find out and that is why he has disappeared? Mutt, Gwen and Colby band together to find Red and stop the human carnage. Gwen learns that Colby was raised by humans and he never learned to shift. She knows the steps even though she can't shift herself. He works on learning to shift and they start an affair. Do they find Red? Is someone raising a Vamp army? Why? They are breaking Nesferatu Law. Is Mutt up to the job of enforcing the Law or is he too new? Can the army be found, stopped, killed, and the humans in the area finally be safe? Is their a future for Gwen and Colby when he hates Tane and the Nesferatu that she owes her allegiance to?
A novella in between books 2 and 3 which show Gwen, the werewolf and head of Tane's security trying to catch her mate. Colby.
she has chased him all over the world and he has slipped her grasp every time.
Giving up she gets summoned to New York to help train the new "baby" Nosferatu in how to fight.
And by some kind of coincidence, she is trying to find his vampire friend, who Colby is trying to find - Red, a member of his slayer team has gone missing and he was the vamp he was supposed to meet, ergo, hes the one he needs to speak to.
Gwen is pushed right to her limits with Colby. Hes mean, rude, cruel, confusing and clearly not interested in her.
Facing that fact, she resorts to finding this vamp together with Colby, finding that the Overlord has a secret illegal plot that is punishable by death.
Both Gwen and Colby wok together which leads to talking and realising each one had crossed wires...
Can this vamp that's missing be alive...? Is Red still alive? What will Colby do - a vampire slayer? Can Gwen and Colby work through their issues, and more importantly, if they WERE to be together - Gwen's pack serves the Vampire King - and that goes against all of Colby's beliefs....
A great novella to see into other characters. The baby Nos "Mutt" - it would be great to see his character again and watch him develop and see if he can keep hold of his almost human thinking.
If you get a chance to read this, i would, but it doesn't spoil the series if you don't.
Nice and short interlude into the series (although not necessary but enjoyable). No surprises here. We know Gwen will get her man Cody, we just don't know the particulars and how funny or serious it will be...and we are a bit intrigued none the less. Although Mutt has a lot to learn and is in desperate need of a name change, I still like him and see potential for him to have a story around him later on down the road. This story will keep your fangs a bit dry with not a lot of action, but just enough bite to wait for Release.
I have really enjoyed this series. The pursuit of Colby by his mate was a great idea for an added book aside from the main focus of these books. However this book, came across as an after thought with almost the rushed feeling of a novella. Perhaps some added chapters and care taken with this book and the endless possibilities with the characters and I would have been thrilled..but,....I am somewhat disappointed. A good read, albeit short and a bit choppy. Check it out! I do seriously recommend the rest of this very well done series.
I thought it was well worth the money. It shows a side of Colby that he never let be seen. Gwin brings out the best in him. He shows her that she is just what he wants. This also introduced a new character that is going to be interesting. Mutt, an uncorrupted new Nasfaratu that is so young even in human years that he adds a whole new story. Can't wait to see how he grows.
This is a great book. I loved the characters, chemistry and drama. The characters are fun, witty and sexy. The interaction between the characters shows that we can't always choose family. I can't wait for the next installment from this author. This is a must read if you like shift or vampire romance both. This author keeps you from the first to the last page. The angler series is great.
Annie Nicholas’ Hunting Colby is a fast paced, emotional, action packed adventure with flawed characters that become stronger as they work together solving a serious crime. While part of a series, this story stands decidedly on its own. I could not put the book down until I finished. Strongly reccomend
I enjoyed this book, but it took me a while to get into, I couldn't remember who the characters were and had to reread Catch! But once I got in it didn't really matter who the characters were as it really is its own story! I thought Mutt was a great new character and looking forward to reading more about him. I thought the story was fast paced and full of action and romance!
As always, Annie Nicholas writes such fun-to-read books. This one puts a different twist on the typical "love story." The heroine, Gwen, helps her mate, Colby, in so many different ways. I even loved the minor characters, and I am hoping I get to learn more about them in Annie's next book.
I read this in one sitting! Could NOT put it down!!!
I am in love with Mutt! What a great character he is. Gwen is helping teach the young vampire Mutt fighting skills. And in the process she finds Colby who is her mate but he has been running away from her. They end up working together to take down a bad vamp who thinks he can break the laws of breeding. I hope we get more stories with Mutt.
Cute, quick read, a nice little wrap up of this story line from the 2nd Angler book. I feel like the ending was a little rushed, but it was meant to be a novella and so I can't say that bothered me too much. I liked the characters but I have a feeling we won't be seeing them in the 3rd angler book, unless our trio goes to NY. I guess I'll have to read on to see.
I really like this Angler Series a lot. Hunting Colby takes a breather from the original books to delve more into the life of the vampire hunter and his chosen mate. This whole time I thought Colby was a human. These books are not the normal kind of books I read, but I may have to throw a couple in here and there. If you like the world of vampires your going to enjoy this book.
I read this after I read the three novels not knowing about the 2.5 novel. Boy does everything fall into place and it would of been better if this was the beginning. Worthy read wish the covers would of match the other s maybe I wouldn't of made the mistake and picked up the third installment of the series before I read the 2.5.
I absolutely loved the books, Bait, Catch and Release. Naturally I needed to read this one. This book is amazing in it's smallness. Jam packed with excitement and mystery. I feel like I need more though. I guess I'm saying it ended to quickly for me because I love these characters. I'm hoping more sequels/knock offs are to come. Great read!
I really enjoyed getting to know Gwen better. A shame it seems she won't be with Connie anymore, but glad she found her mate. Glad we also got to know what makes Colby tic.
