Fr. Donald Calloway, MIC, deftly shares his personal insights on topics including Divine Mercy, the Eucharist, the Church, confession, prayer, the cross, masculinity, and femininity — all while telling us what it means to be “under Mary’s Mantle.” Includes hundreds of quotes about Our Lady from saints, blesseds, and popes.
Fr. Donald Calloway, MIC, a convert to Catholicism, is a member of the Congregation of Marian Fathers of the Immaculate Conception.
Before his conversion to Catholicism, he was a high school dropout who had been kicked out of a foreign country, institutionalized twice, and thrown in jail multiple times. After his radical conversion he earned a B.A. in Philosophy and Theology from the Franciscan University of Steubenville, M.Div. and S.T.B. degrees from the Dominican House of Studies in Washington, DC, and an S.T.L. in Mariology from the International Marian Research Institute in Dayton, Ohio.
Amazing book! Fr. Calloway has a gifted ability to make the Catholic faith easy to understand. I have a hard time putting his books down as they are so enlightening and just make so much sense! I highly recommend reading this as a companion to 33 Days to Morning Glory.
Fr. Don has an incredible gift of writing. His writing style is eloquent, humorous and has an easy flow. I couldn't put this book down. I enjoyed reading this book so much, I didn't want it to end. This is a book that draws its reader closer to Our Lady. I'll be reading it again and sharing it with others.
A thoughtful overview of our Blessed Mother and her role in our lives. I especially enjoyed the Marian Gems at the end of each chapter. The Marian Gems connect Donald Calloway's contemporary teaching to the classic wisdom of the saints and Popes.
Well I wanted to learn what the Catholic church is all about, and I think this book is a good place to start. Can't say I found his arguments for a near-deity Mary or a biblically authorized Pope were convincing for me, but at least I know a little bit more about where Catholics are coming from.
This book is amazing explanation of Mary's relationship to us and Mother Church. I learned so much and he even uses early Christian quotes, like from those taught by the apostles!
Excellent read from Calloway - he doesn’t hold back in praising Mary as the great Mother of God and humanity - and by the end you’ll be joining him enthusiastically!
I absolutely loved this book! I've only been in the Catholic faith for a few years, so his story calls out to me and I find it easy to understand. He makes it easy to understand our need to love Our Blessed Mother! I would recommend it to everyone!
Father Calloway has a wonderful way of explaining how Mary is (and should be) in every aspect of our lives. He recommends reading the book slowly so you can take it all in, and I couldn't agree more. I thought I knew a lot about Mary but after reading this book realize I have so much more to learn. This is a must-read for all Christians. Although it is a book geared toward Catholics, all Christians can learn how important Mary is as mother to all of us.
