*Katrina's Review*

So I first want to thank The Redhead for inviting us to join this tour! She recommended we read book one first but you don't have to... however I agree because I absolutely fucking loved The Barter System!!!!! Riya and her men hold a special place in my heart... (Little teaser graphic for the Barter system further down the page) Okay now on to why we are hear today... HUDSON!!!

Gabriella Hernandez is a very independent woman. She has learned how to earn her things through life and is proud of that. She doesn't need anyone for anything. She moves to New York for love how romantic right???? Well not when she finds out she's been tricked! What she does find in New York is nothing should could have thought she would want.

Hudson Winters is the normal billionaire playboy on the outside. (Kind of) He has some dark needs and only trusts one womann to be completely himself with. His best friend Natalia and him have an interesting relationship that they see is just a strong friendship... one that helps the others get their needs. However, When Hudson is intrigued by the lovely Gabriella... So is Natalia. Will they fight for her? or Fight to share her?

Natalia is the owner of Trios the club that is home to my new fav menage couples. She works hard and if smoe unwinding is needed well Hudson is there. She can't deny that the pull she feels towards Brie isn't strong and that maybe she is what the friends have been longing for.

Will Gabriella join in with Hudson and Natalia? Or will she be the bridge that brings them together?

This story is erotic in the best possible ways. There are some intense sex scenes and yet it doesn' t take away from the story or lessen it in anyway. I wouldn't have it any other way!

5 ***** Loved it!!!!

*Jillian's Review* Shayne McClendon is absolutely brilliant. She's got a way that sucks you into the story and then blows your mind! Hudson was a breath of fresh air. It doesn't follow the norm whatsoever! I loved him! I love Shayne McClendon! She's my new fave!!! This book deserves more then 5 stars!! It deserves 10!!!

Gabriella Hernandez was raised with strong family values and a hard work ethic. She moves to New York for love but soon finds out she was played a fool. When she meets Hudson in the lobby of his apartment she is taken aback by his beauty until he opens his mouth. Hudson Winters is this successful business dominating man that gets what he wants when he wants. Gabriella gives Hudson a what for and doesn't play into his hand. Insert Natalia Hudson's best friend and she would do anything for him including adding another person to their fucked up relationship. But they weren't counting on Gabriella opening their eyes to what they've been missing out on and what they could be. The love between these three people is breathtaking. I absolutely love them and will forever carry them in my heart! They all teach each other about one another and how to accept their flaws! I miss them already!

I have so much to say about this book, but will have to keep it short for right now and return later to add more!! If you enjoyed "The Barter System," then I believe you will enjoy this book so much more! I had a hard time putting Hudson down, and had some crazy emotional attachment to these characters!

Some of the characters form TBS do make appearances in this story, but not too much where this story loses it's identity. Shayne did an amazing job of connecting my emotions with the characters and making me feel like I was living in Gabriella's mind! I cried, laughed, and even got angry. Gabriella is so much stronger than she even realizes and she changes the lives of the one's she gets close to. Hudson has a rough exterior, but deep down he is one of the most caring and gentle people when he wants to be. One thing for sure is when you are in his close circle, he will do anything to care for you! Little does Hudson know, he has changed Gabriella's life in so many ways as well!

Although this story did not end the way I had personally hoped, I thought it was a pleasant unexpected twist! This only makes me more excited to see what is next for Gabriella and hopefully I will get to see more of the gang in the books that follow! This series really does have some of the most interesting and loving characters that is for sure!

Out of Wonderland and Back to Reality

Hudson takes place within the same world as The Barter System. Riya and Max and Micah do make an appearance in this book; they are still the same characters I loved before in that book and this book does make a few more passing nods to the fact that it's in the same world/time frame as that work, however this book is not, for me, a true "sequel" to it. This book just happens to share a world with The Barter System. It's very much its own work. I honestly don't know that I would tell someone interested in reading Hudson that they MUST read The Barter System first. Do you get more out of it if you have that connection with the returning characters? Sure. Do you have enough interaction with the returning characters that you absolutely "lose out" if you've not read it before reading this one? No. I wouldn't say that.

Hudson all on his own is worth reading this book for if you ask me. He's as literal a definition of an Alpha Male as you're going to get: control-oriented to an intense, obsessive level, driven, forceful, powerful, demanding, and always very much the master of his domain to the point that you do get a little of the D/s scene from him. I find him fascinating as a character since I loved his intensity and his depth which is hard for a writer to achieve with a character like him who one is instantly thinking should feel "cold" or "distant" from the reader.

Hudson was a man I knew. I never felt cordoned off from him because of his intensity. I loved him as he came. I love the fact that he's that guy who isn't inclined to make apologies even when he really, really should. I think the reason that I was attracted to him as a character is that he embraces his flaws to the point that he's willing to accept and overlook them in others as well---though he appreciates and accepts only the same flaws in others which is its own form of hubris.

Whatever, I loved him. He's pushy, demanding, domineering, and outright mean sometimes and I still loved him.

For me, the really striking difference between this work and The Barter System was the overall "feel" of the work. Where there was very much the sense of falling into the fantasy of Wonderland with Riya in The Barter System, there are an equal number of reminders that this is The Real World, no one's fantasy, here in Brie's world. Her life isn't the sheltered, coming-of-age journey filled with wonderment and exploration that I saw in Riya's story. Brie is a woman who has lived, keeps living, and knows all about living, yet she's so, so lovely. I wanted such amazing things for her. I wanted a HEA for her that I couldn't even describe, but I knew, somehow, that her story would surprise me from the very beginning.

It's incredibly hard to review this book without giving away anything important -like the ending which is its own kind of HEA, by the way- but I will say that I felt that Brie was not done poorly in this book. She was given a fair shake which life hadn't often done for her prior to the events of this story. I don't know what I wanted for her, but I am happy with how things turned out in this work simply because I liked the back-to-reality feeling of it. There are many elements of the book that aren't one-hundred-percent every-day-living -since how many billionaires do you really know? I mean, really- but it's still got a lot more "life" in it than I really expected. It's a fantastic reality tale with enough sex to make for a good erotic read, but not so much sex that it loses the point of the story which comes from the development of the characters.

On an odd note, even though The Barter System remains my favorite of Shayne McClendon's works, I will say that Hudson is the one that I recommend the most. I feel that it's more universal in some ways and I simply believe it's a book everyone should have a chance to read when they're looking for contemporary with a little more bang for the buck.

**TARA'S REVIEW**

*4 Menage à Trois Stars*

For two years Gabriella Hernandez carried on a long distance relationship with Hudson when he would visit her in Washington. On a whim she packed her bags and moved across the country to NYC to start her life in a new city to be near her man. Upon arrival she quickly realizes Hudson was not the man she thought he was.

Gabriella finds herself unsure of where her life will take her and what she will do to rebuild her life in this new city. Unwilling to tuck her tail between her legs and go back to her family in Washington, Gabriella accepts the unknowing help of the real Hudson Winters and begins to rebuild her life.

"The kiss she delivered was one that Brie thought came with an unspoken message." "I want you just as much."

Enter Natalia, Hudson's long time best friend and lover. Natalia brings out a side of Gabriella she never knew she had. In return Gabriella gives Hudson & Natalia a gift they never knew they wanted.

"He wanted complete control. Over their experience and his own."

Hudson is a no nonsense Alpha male who enjoys the rougher side of sex. This book contains sexually graphic situations, bdsm, anal play, f/f action, dom/sub activity, and a HEA.

"We don't know how to connect, to touch, without payment of some kind."

Gabriella brings out the softer side of Hudson, and shows him what it is like to really love. The student becomes the teacher, and the lesson Gabriella teaches Hudson and Natalia will leave them breathless.

This book follows characters from The Barter System, although this is a stand alone novel, I recommend reading The Barter System first to get a feel for the characters and their lifestyle. While there is a HEA at the end of this book, Gabriella's story is not over just yet, Backstage will pick up where Gabriella's story left off and is due out in 2014.

While I really enjoyed the storyline of this book, the writing style sometimes confused me with where it was going. There were times I felt it was lacking some substance, and other times I felt like it was a bit drawn out. Most of the sex scenes made me feel like I was a fly on the wall watching the scene unfold. They were HOT HOT HOT. The one situation I wanted to see come to fruition did not, which bummed me out a little. (To avoid spoilers I will leave what I was actually hoping for out.) Overall, I enjoyed this book.

**Arc was provided by author in exchange for an honest review**

I’m a huge fan of Shayne McClendon. I’ve read 12 of her books, so going into Hudson, I was ready for the hot sex, drama, a bit of suspense and heartache. I knew Shayne would take care of me and put me back together as her characters healed and fought through their past demons and current difficulties. This time, though, I still feel broken, and I’m not sure why. At 40 percent in, I took a break from the text; I was over the top with emotions. Every time that Hudson and Natalia were intimate, I felt he betrayed Gabriella. I didn’t understand why for months, Gabriella avoided Hudson when she felt such strong emotions for him. I also couldn’t wrap my mind around Hudson being with somebody else when Gabriella had wormed her way into his heart. She’s the heroine and Hudson is the hero – they are supposed to be with one another – Right?

When I returned to the text, I made sure that I had an open mind. Shayne’s stories had never led me astray, so I was ready for the journey, and by the end of Hudson, Gabriella’s role became clearer. I was still bummed, but I accepted where Shayne took Hudson, Natalia, and Gabriella.

“’I’m like a footbridge. A way to get from where you are to where you want to be.’ ‘Once you cross, you no longer need the bridge and that’s alright.’”

Gabriella is a fantastic heroine. She is a very complex character who has multiple sides to her personality. People perceive her as weak and docile, but she is anything but…she is passionate, considerate, and empathetic. She gives of herself and asks for nothing in return. She sees people for who they truly are despite the facades that they broadcast to everyone else. She is the perfect fit for Riya and Tawny – a blend of both of them.

Hudson is a dominant alpha male whose demons and dark desires make him standoffish with people. He is a no nonsense man who takes what he wants when he wants it. His relationship with Gabriella offers him something that he has never gotten from anyone else – comfort and peace.

Both Gabriella and Hudson are forever changed by what they have together, and while the ending did not turn out like I had hoped it would, I know that there is still plenty more to Gabriella’s story to tell, and I can’t wait to see what Shayne has in store for her.
Shayne is a tremendous storyteller. Her characters come to life on the page due to the complexity in which she creates them. Even when I wanted to cuss her out for not giving me the ending I wanted, I still had to commend her for telling a story that made my emotions go all over the place. As a reader, I want to be pulled into a story and be immersed into the lives of the characters. Almost every story that I have read of hers allows me to do just that. I anxiously will be awaiting Backstage!

Gabriella Hernandez has spent the last two years having a long-distance relationship with Hudson Winters. She's grown up in a small town in Washington state in a family that has worked hard for everything they have. Brie decides one day to follow her heart and move to NYC to be with Hudson and start a life of love and independence. Upon seeing Hudson when she gets to New York, she realizes Hudson is not the man she expected.

Hudson Winters is an incredibly successful businessman that has not forgotten where he has come from and uses that to fuel his passion for his work. He likes to keep his private life just that private.

Hudson never expected to have a "normal" relationship - but there is something about this girl that showed up in New York that has Hudson wanting something more. Can Brie be the person to give that to him? Will Hudson realize that maybe he isn't as lost as he thinks and just maybe what he has always wanted was right in front of his face.

This is part of The Barter System series, however the characters from TBS only make short appearances and are not main characters. This is a new story that you will fall in love with just like TBS.

I loved Brie!! Where Riya in TBS was TOO perfect - Brie was so down-to-earth and hardworking. She insisted that she was going to get her life of independence away from her family in the big city - even if it didn't happen the way she originally imagined. Hudson was two-sided. One moment he was the strong, hard-balling businessman and the next he would be the caring, soft guy - with a definite kinky streak.

The ending was so unexpected which is what I love about the whole series so far. You are thinking that the story will go one way and it ends up taking a left turn and ending more perfect than you thought.

This is a book I want to re-read because I'm sure that I missed things along the ride.

Shayne McClendon Continues to Blow Me Away

Hudson is an amazingly hot story written by the incredible Shayne McClendon. How she hasn’t been snatched up by a publisher is beyond my comprehension. But because she publishes independently, we get these incredible stories that you never see coming out of New York. They are real and the characters are relatable, and could be any person on the street. You are drawn into their lives because they just aren’t that different then you. Maybe a little more open, who you would want to be if you didn’t have to worry about the risks involved. You want to be Brie and Natalia and have the incredibly dark and sexy Hudson in your life, for better or for worse. Watching these three characters grow from their first introduction to the last words of the book is an all consuming journey. Once I started this book, I couldn’t stop reading. And as with all of Shayne’s books I laughed so hard I snorted, and I cried ugly tears at points. It’s an emotional roller coaster, but I read this from beginning to end at one time. Now that’s a dream for any reader, but it so rarely happens. But I just could not put this down. I adored Hudson, with his secrets and darkness, and how he needed Brie & Natalia to balance him.

I can not recommend Hudson enough, and I would also suggest you read The Barter System, although it’s not required reading to enjoy Hudson. I suggest it because that’s another amazing story by Shayne (I can’t say those words together enough) that introduces the world that Hudson, Brie & Natalia play in. This is a book for 18 & up readers, but if you love hot characters with just as hot sex scenes, Hudson is the book for you!!

This is the second in The Barter System series. While I believe it could stand alone, the relationships of the supporting characters will make much more sense if you have read THE BARTER SYSTEM.

Gabriella “Brie” Hernandez has arrived in New York to be with her boyfriend, only to discover that she has been conned. The name and the address are right, but the man she runs into is an arrogant, foul-mouthed, aggravating, (and sexy) dominant. Determined to make her new life in New York City rather than returning to Washington, she quickly finds a home and a job, not knowing that Hudson Winters has smoothed the way and made the arrangements for her. He is twisted up by thoughts of her and begins to question his relationships and his future.

This is Hudson’s story, but it is also Brie’s and Natalia’s. If this story was a man, I would date him. It is full of passion, humor, a bit of intrigue, and just enough reality. I absolutely adore Brie. She loves with her whole heart. She’s intelligent, insightful, introspective, passionate, self-deprecating, and willfully naïve. She reminds me a lot of me, especially that last one. We glass-is-half-full gals have to stick together! It all comes down to a philosophy bent on believing in the best of everyone you meet and expecting them to live up to that belief. It works more often than not! I will be waiting in breathless anticipation for the next story in this series.

I loved this book.
I was looking for a book that had sex and an storyline. There is nothing worse than reading a book and after wondering what the book was about besides sex. HUDSON was the perfect mix of sex and storyline.

I loved Hudson, he is a strong alpha male who is always use to get what he wants. The book starts when Brie lands on Hudson's door as part of a con she fell for. She's a strong character and has no problem standing up to Hudson. Natalia is also a great character. Characters from The Barter System show up in this book too. I have not read The Barter System yet. Not reading The Barter System first will not take anything away from this book.

HUDSON definitely has some hot and steamy sex scenes. The attraction between Hudson, Brie, Natalia is very strong. I loved the whole story. The speech Brie gives Hudson towards the end of the story was beautiful and heartbreaking. The ending was completely different than I had excepted. I can't wait to read more in Backstage.

Strong female...check. Sexy alpha male...check. Hot, kinky sex...CHECK! The Barter System introduced us to Rhiya, Max and Micha who make a few appearances in Hudson as a parallel story

beginning where TBS ends. Hudson, Gabriella and Natalia are "real" in their emotions, as they are by-products of their upbringing.

Hudson and Natalia are childhood friends that evolved into friends with benefits....make that kinky friends with benefits. So when Gabriella follows love cross country to New York, she is met with the cruelty of life in the Big Apple. Hudson didn't know what to think or do when Gabriella walked into his building, but he was going to show her who was in control or so he thought.

This isn't your teenage love triangle. These are adults who explore their evolving relationships. Their intense story will leave you breathless as they allow you to become a voyeur and experience all they have to share.

I enjoyed the first story in this series, and this promised to feature some of the characters we had met, so I was intrigued how the storyline would continue.

Gabriella Hernandez had taken the plunge and chased her heart to New York. She had been having a quasi relationship with the wealthy Hudson Winters, when he could visit her, and he suggested she should move to his hometown.

On arrival, her excitement was curtailed, when she found out things weren’t quite what they seemed. Luckily for her, Riya and her M.Men were there to come to her rescue.

I found this story a bit impotent for my tastes. Don’t get me wrong, Hudson was a force to be reckoned with, but I guess I just couldn’t feel it. My connection was only with the resourceful, unassuming, burgeoning sex kitten in furry, bunny slippers.

If you loved The Barter System you will love Hudson. Shayne McClendon has done it again with Hudson. The story is Amazing. I fell in love with all the Characters. With every word she has written you are captivated and wanting more. Hudson is an Alpha with a I am who I am attitude and if you don't like it then that's too bad for you. Brie is Strong but so underestimated by everyone. Natalia is so in love with Hudson she can't even see it. The book goes to show you that sometimes Timing is Everything. The extra Cherry on Top was the appearance of the Characters from The Barter System. I don't want to give any spoilers So I will say that I can't wait for the next book in the Series. I really like the fact that the Characters are Adults in Adult situations. IF YOU DONT LIKE Alpha Males,Lots of Hot Steamy Sex and Strong Women KEEP GOING !!!!! THIS IS NOT THE BOOK FOR YOU.

There would be no lovemaking in this man's arms. He fucked. She wanted that experience and she wanted it with him.

Hudson is an off shoot of The Barter System in the essence some of the players in TBS are in Hudson. As most of you know.....I loved The Barter System so so much, so I was really eager to get my hands on this ARC by Shanyne McClendon.

I loved Hudson and the angst he had in his life. He was arrogant and cocky, but underneath it all had an extremely kind heart that not many people got to see. Gabriella was a sweet and genuine heroine and let me tell you I did not see the route in which this story took her!

I really enjoyed Hudson and look forward to more stories from this series!

I loved The Barter System but if it's possible I loved this even more. Be warned... Make sure you got time to read all this as you won't want to leave it for even a minute.
One of the great things about this book is we get to read more about the characters from The Barter System. The characters in this book are fantastic. The story gripped me from the start to the finish. It was non stop action in this book. Did I mention Hudson is oh so hot?? They females are also fit as f**k.

I HIGHLY recommend this book.

Why oh why have I not heard of this author before? I could keep gushing about this author but instead I'm gonna go see what other books she's written.

This book is hot! If erotic romance is not your thing move on to something else.

This is a sequel to The Barter System with the return of Riya and her M&Ms with a few others. Their characters aide the story of Brie (Gabriella), Hudson and Natalia. An unfortunate event takes place and turns Brie's world upside down but with the help of strangers - Riya & Hudson - she gets up and moves ahead. It's a coming of age of sorts but a love story between two people. Mind you there is a twist on this love and it's not quite who you thought. It's told beautifully with never a dull moment, quite the page turner. Looking forward to Backstage, the next in the series.

Hudson by Shayne McClendon

Brie & Hudson & Natalia

WELL... HMMMMM... SPEECHLESS

Well, I'm not actually speechless...ha, like that would ever happen! I am however a little distressed over this book... I think I'm on my way to a "book hangover!" I can't say if I'm content or not with this book... I must say this right off the bat... it's excellently written and carried out well, but I sincerely thought it was going in a different direction and I'm not so sure I like the direction it took! Does that make sense? With that said, There are so many things I DO love about the book so I'll focus on those for now!

I love the fact that our beautiful Riya (The Barter System) plays a bigger role in this one than I though she would. Tawny and the M's too! It's always nice to see the extension of past characters and how life has transpired for them! I must say, life with those two crazy bitches has gotta be a fuckin' riot!!!

The key female lead Gabriella (Brie) was so adorable in a hot tamale sort of way. She seemed to be the "glass half full" sort of girl and oh so likeable. I hated what brought her to New York, but I honestly loved that she didn't back down and that she fought to make it out there instead of going home with her tail between her legs! She seemed to grow more of a backbone the more she stayed in NY and hung out with Tawny and Riya. See told ya - those two are good for just about everybody!!!

I guess you could say there was an additional female lead in Natalia! I didn't like her in the beginning and I'm not so sure I like her now. She's Brie's polar opposite and just didn't win my heart like Brie did. Natalia was NOT in anyway, shape, or form a horrible person or mean to Brie, but something about her just rubbed me the wrong way! Maybe someday I'll figure that out!

Now, our MAIN MAN Hudson! What a jerk! I loved him, I hated him, I wanted to have his babies, and then I had serious thoughts of killing him! On top of be devastatingly handsome and uber smokin' hot, he had the absolute worst attitude and he was always crabby! Enter Brie... that little munchkin could ALMOST bring him to his knees... ALMOST!

Hudson is 303 (Kindle Version) pages long and when I finished this book, I wasn't sure whether I wanted to hug Shayne or smack her. It's a great book... superb dialogue and effortless to read judging on the fact that I read it in one day, but I'm not sure about the climax and I'm guessing since it's not the ending I was expecting, I AM a little disappointed, but I'm sure Shayne has something more coming to entice me and to keep me reading this excellent series! Right Shayne??

This is the second book in the Barter System Series and although this book can been read as a stand-alone, I believe you would appreciate it a lot more if you read Barter System prior. Unfortunately, I had not read Barter System prior, but I wished that I had the pleasure of doing so, to fully understand and appreciate all the characters who made appearances in Hudson.

The story begins with Gabriella Hernandez making the decision to move from her home in Washington to New York for a man named Hudson who she had been dating and had a long distance relationship with.

She travels to New York and appears on Hudson’s doorstep (or so she thought), only to discover that he was NOT the person she had been dating and she had been scammed -- for her money and her pride.

Ashamed and humiliated, she decides not to disclose her situation to her family and rebuilds her life in New York to prove to herself and her family that she is in fact able to stand on her own two feet. Unbeknownst to her, the real Hudson Winters sympathized for her and decides to lend her a helping hand.

Hudson is the epitome of an Alpha male: intense, no-nonsense, extremely controlling, powerful, dominant and appeared so distant and cold.

Natalia is Hudson’s childhood friend and she and Hudson have been friends with benefits since their twenties. Natalia is a strong woman, but willingly submits to Hudson’s every desire.

Gabriella enters Hudson’s and Natalia’s life like a wrecking ball and the three of them begin a life lesson journey of pleasure, passion, friendship and love. Gabriella extracts Hudson’s softer side and truly teaches him how to be a better man.

Words can’t even begin to express how HOT this book is…OH-EM-GEE (I need a cold shower!!) Although ménage a trois action is not my preference, dammit, Shayne forced me to like it and I didn’t mind it at one bit! LOL!

I LOVED Gabriella, Hudson and Natalia’s story and although not conventional, it had me yearning for more. I don’t want to give out any spoilers, but let me just say that their story had me on an emotional roller coaster ride, I’m fully spent, but LOVED every moment of it! Gabriella is the sweetest and kindest person EVER!!

I highly recommend this book, the plot was great and it was truly compelling. I can’t wait for Backstage to see how Gabriella’s journey continues.

This is the sequel to the Barter System which I truly loved and Riya and her men are back!
We are introduced to Gabriella (Brie), Hudson and Natalia. Brie comes to New York and finds herself in quite a predicament. She is unable to tell her family what has happened and now has no choice but to surround herself with the assistance of the beautiful, helpful strangers that have taken her under their wings. She comes face to face with Hudson and she quickly realizes that he is always in control and does not relinquish it for anyone. She begins to rattle his world with her innocence and honesty and he finds he can't keep himself away from her.
Hudson has always been in control in and out of the bedroom and he knows no other way to live. He begins to find himself traveling down the path of unknown and begins to realize he may have been letting himself miss out on a lot in life. Brie isn't sure she can live in Hudson's world it seems strange and complicated. He has a "friend" Natalia that makes Brie rethink how she feels about relationships and her own sexuality. I must say that Natalia was a pleasant surprise in this journey. She certainly surprised me. Their lives begin to intertwine and the three of them find themselves in an interesting situation. They begin to learn from each other, which causes growth for each of them as individuals and as lovers. I was not expecting that ending but I always enjoy a good twist and surprise! Shayne certainly gave us that!
Is it possible for two completely different worlds to come together and make it work or will on devour the other?
I truly enjoyed this second book and loved getting reacquainted with Riya and her men! They are always a treat!~~Michele~~

This is a book that I read straight through to the end, and after I finished I couldn't fall asleep because I couldn't stop thinking about the characters and what had happened and could happen in the future. It was stuck in my brain. I won't rehash the plot here, because one of the things I loved about this book was that despite me thinking I knew where things were going, I was proven wrong more than once. This author proved she was the boss of me, and I liked it.

It was fantastic getting to spend a little time with Riya, Tawny, and the M's (from The Barter System). I loved them all quite dearly and seeing how they fit into this story was fantastic. Hudson is a complex character and it was really rewarding to see his character go through a transformation. Gabriella was a completely endearing and interesting character to follow through this book. She was giving, and sweet, but not a pushover. She was definitely not afraid of telling people the straight-up truth, and also wasn't afraid of putting herself out there even when she was likely to get hurt. I am a little bit desperate to see where her story goes from here. It was one of the things I couldn't stop thinking about when this book ended. The sexy stuff in this book is phenomenally sexy, and this author has proven herself to be one that I will be keeping an eye out for in the future. In the meantime, I'll be devouring everything she has written to this point.

HUDSON takes us back into the world of TBS (The Barter System). A few supporting characters visit us- Riya and her M's, as well as Tawny and her fellas. And though this is an entirely separate story line, the characters from TBS are still so very true to their persona.

Hudson is a grade A Alpha Male, with a predilection towards being a hard ass. He doesn't take any crap from anybody, and comes off as insensitive. The guy's had a hard life; and we soon learn it's more of a coping mechanism than anything.

Brie is in love. Except the man she's in love with isn't who he says he is. Brie takes a chance and moves to the big city to be with her love, and when she finds she has been duped, she doesn't go crying back home. She takes the situation and owns it, with a little secret help from Hudson but shh! No spoilers!

Brie is goodness personified. Can Hudson see past his own darkness to see the good inside himself?

Such an amazing story line! I love Shayne's writing, and this book- oh this book- made me laugh, cry, and take a few really cold showers when I could force myself to step away from reading it. Definitely a favorite!!!

OK - so I can't think of how to review this book without spoilers. So if you don't want to be spoiled, don't read this.

I had no idea that this book would be about a threesome - yea, I guess if I had read book 1 I would have had some kind of clue. Now, I am not at all skeeved or turned off by sex in the books I read. Actually, I prefer lots of good sex in the books I read, and this would be my first menage (i know rightt?). I liked that part - a lot (blushes)

My absolute favorite thing in this book was Brie (Gabriella). Don't get me wrong, I liked Hudson, I liked Natalia and all the other minions :) I think I may read the next book, because I really want to see her in her HEA

I almost want to give this 4 stars, but I can't because I wanted Hudson with Brie, that's just me being selfish though. I see where Natalia is his true love and yadda-yadda, but then why bring Brie into their lives and tease me with what could've been with Hudson.

I really love Shanyne McClendon's writing. Her book the Barter System is one of my favorites. Some of the characters from the Barter System reappear in this story. I like the story a lot, even though it has a tone that is a little more somber. Brie is an engaging character, that grows into her own throughout the story. She comes to NYC as an innocent and becomes a much more worldly incarnation of herself. Hudson is a brooding man, but aren't they all? He is all alpha male with major control issues. Brie shakes up his well ordered world and he is at a loss as to how to handle it. Hudson learns that control might not be the only thing he has to give up to become a truly happy man. If you loved the Barter System, you get a nice chance to catch up with Riya and the Ms. An truly enjoyable read, especially if you love Shayne McClendon's style, which I do.

I was given an ARC for my honest review.

I LOVED the barter System and I love Shayne's book. This woman blows my mind.

Gabriella is in a whirlwind of a long distance relationship with a man who she thought she knew, but clearly does not at all. Gabriella is trying to make a new life and a fresh start and then things happen and things change for Gabrielle. Life isn't always as it seems and she finds herself drawn to a person she never thought she would. Can she and Hudson make their relationship work? or are they doomed? you will have to read this exquisite and sexy read to find out. Shayne delivers yet again another fantastic book, if you would like to see some barter System characters make an appearance, a book with twists and turns, highs and lows and a lot of hot sex, then this is exactly for you! a must read :-)

This is an incredible read. After finishing the Barter System I thought I knew where the books would lead- but I was WRONG. And I am so happy for that.

The story starts with Gabriella- finally stepping out of her comfort zone, moving for love. Unfortunately everything that can go wrong does. But she meets Riya and her M’s (LOVE THEM ALL) and becomes a fast friend. She also meets Hudson- super Alpha male and Dom. She sets him quickly in his place and he is intrigued.

Over the next year Brie and Hudson have several run-ins. Their relationship is intense, but settles into a odd friendship. One step forward, two steps back. During all of this Natalya is added to the mix.

What starts off as a D/s scenario turns into an amazing love story. An unexpected love story- but a perfect ending to this book. Now waiting for book 3!

A spinoff of Shayne McClendon's popular erotic novel The Barter System, Hudson is gradually becoming just as popular among readers. Bringing back some favorites such as Riya and her M's, and giving more insight to, who was initially a minor character, Natalia. New major characters are being introduced such as the self-titled Hudson and the luscious beauty, Brie. Hudson,a delicious combination of cold and compassionate, brings his own to the table. While Brie a newbie to Manhattan, under unorthodox circumstances, finds that being pushed to her limits has an incredible influence on her and everyone else involved. This sexy erotic novella will make you question how cold a heart actually is and which side of the fence you really do fall on. Amazing from start to finish! By chapter two you are enveloped in the heat of sarcasm and a healthy handful of....
Well you'll find out soon enough!

I loved The Barter System because Shayne always does a great job at catching the readers attention. She writes scenes that would make anyone blush (or almost anyone). In Hudson, she takes characters from The Barter System and gives us some more on them. Characters we all fell in love interact with the new characters of Hudson.

Hudson is a man who doesn't like giving anyone the chance to take over. He keeps his hand on the reigns tightly. That is until he meets Gabriella.

Gabriella comes in and turns Hudson's world upside down just as he turns hers upside down.

What happens when worlds collide?

Pick up Hudson to find out. If you want to catch up on the series. Grab The Barter System and read from the beginning.

This series is NOT for a younger audience.
