In this, the fourth book of the bestselling Mystic Saga, we take a temporary leave of Braxton in New York City to meet up with Cyan – an IX7 unit embodied by a triune of souls from the once primitive race living beneath Legacy.

Elix has been returned safely to his people on Legacy. Unfortunately for him, his abductors returned him to an era far before his own lifetime. Fortunately, however for his people, Elix offers a plethora of knowledge about the future invaders and their technologies. He offers a fighting chance for his people.

Centuries later, they develop a covert way to visit the world they call Violation - a world we know as Earth. They now have a supreme technology that can permit them to insert three individual minds (an elected committee to determine the fate of their enemies) into a single robotic unit disguised in human form. Can this undercover committee survive in a world of 1947 where they know nothing of the history and little of the customs?

Scott's first novel, Mommy's Choice, was originally published in paperback under the pseudonym Scott Curtis. In under a year on the bookshelves, that novel won the National Christian Choice Book Award for romantic suspense. When Scott moved to a different publisher and started making his novels available to Kindle readers, he returned to his real name and reduced the prices to the absolute minimum allowed by Amazon.
Scott McElhaney currently resides in Ohio with his wife and two sons. He's a Desert Shield veteran of the US Navy, having served on the USS South Carolina CGN-37. Although his books didn't become available to Kindle readers until December 2011, over 250,000 digital copies have been purchased to date and he still maintains a position in the top 100 worldwide in the "Sci-fi Space Opera" category.

Not really sure where this one was going. Just kinda hung around and didn't really do much.

These short 100 page stories are all well and good but don't really deliver. I've read all four of the current releases in this Mystic saga and I probably won't be buying any more. The stories are simply too short and don't pack any sort of punch, even if they are only 99c per book.

The author writes about himself that he is publishing for the fun of writing and hopes that others enjoy his stories. Although not to my taste, I'm sure others will enjoy his work.

Another great installment in this series.
I feel what the author is trying to do is a star wars-esque style of story - the first to books were like episodes 4-6, books 3 and 4 (possibly 5 as well) are like the first 3; setting up the plot so that the first 2 books make sense. But then on top of all that, all 4 are connected in the order they were written too.
I hope that made sense lol.

With all the characters and stories that have happened in the past 4 books, I'm hoping that convergence (book 5) will tie up all the loose ends and give the answers we need....

Judgement, Scott McElhaney, The Mystic Saga IV

This is a fast read, despite its glaring shortcomings with editing, confusing the reader, and more. If you want a quick Science Fiction story you wouldn't harm yourself if you picked up the first five book omnibus edition of this saga for your Kindle, or borrow it if you have a Kindle.

I rate this at 2 stars. I've rated the 1st and 2nd book, both at 3.5 stars, rounding one up, and one down. The previous book I rated 4 stars and Scott deserved it. This outing I'm at 2 stars mainly for thrice breaking the writer/reader bond or contract. Scott writes well enough and you will zip through pages rather quickly, but if you are like me, you will have to finish the book so you can re-read it so you have a clue who, what, when, where, and how the majority of the first half of the book related to the story. Hope I said that right. I have notes up to page fifty where I'm still frustrated with what is going on. The last third of the book was good enough and nailed what I like about Scott McElhaney... fast pace, flipping pages kind of reading, even when you're totally confused beginning to middle.

Don't read the spoiler, OK?

Now... see what you've done?

I would refer a good friend with a strong science fiction interest to this book. There are shortcomings, mostly minor editing goofs and some time line/time travel issues. I like the 'science' in the science fiction in this one. Like a good little light speed magician, Scott brilliantly didn't try to technically explain such things, except for getting us to think about time/space travel. Can you go to Mars for much of a year, and then return to Earth in a blink of an eye and find you've arrive at Earth before you departed in the first place?

This was the worst of the series. I'm not sure if I want to read the fifth book and I've already bought it.

Three aliens are chosen from their race to be sent to earth as judges to decide whether to destroy earth or not. But there are HUGE plot holes and the characters are pretty unbelievable.

First, the source if the aliens knowledge is Elix from the last book. How he gets back in time without the humans tagging along is never explained (he was a helpless child). And he knows a lot about what's going to happen--even though his mother in the last book expressly doesn't tell him about their history or the humans at all.

Second, the three representatives are not wise, clever, or even very alien. They argue like kids and one makes snide, sexual comments all the time. And they're VERY human in language and motivation and culture. If you're going to have aliens you need to make them more than glowing humans with cool tech.

Finally, this story is just a slow exposition of the aliens falling in love with a farm girl. It could have been done in a few chapters. It's nothing more than a reconnect to book three--a slow, sloppy one.

Fast and Fun Read!
I strongly suggest you read the previous books in the The Mystic Saga (Indentured, Legacy and Violation) prior to reading this installment.

When I first cracked this book open (figuratively speaking) I wasn’t in the mood to commit to a long story. This saga provided the perfect symmetry, encompassing a compact story with depth, humor and plenty of action.

I highly recommend this book to fellow SF readers and I look forward to reading the next installment Convergence released on 8/12/12.

Awesome, fun, and different from the rest of the books in the series to add a fresh perspective on the universe Scott has built. Well written, great character development, laugh-out-loud moments, and depth make this one of the best books in the series.

I can hardly wait to see where the next book takes me. This book had a few minor editing problems, but nothing to deter me from reading the next installment of this series.

Number 4 of the Mystic Saga. Meh, the worst so far, but still it doesn't take away from the overall great story from 1-3 though. Would read again because it belongs to this great saga.

Interesting plot

The way the story is built and developed is nice and makes me want to start reading the next volume immediately.
