Now the "New York Times" bestselling author of "Hot Blooded" and "Cold Blooded" delivers her most powerful novel yet, bringing back New Orleans detective Reuben Montoya as he matches wits with a twisted psychopath whose very presence makes his victims SHIVER. . . Every Serial Killer. . .

A serial killer is stalking the streets of New Orleans. The victims are killed in a ritual fashion, a series of numbers tattooed into their bodies. There are no clues, no connections except one: a crumbling old asylum that was once the scene of unspeakable madness--and is now the calling card of a new kind of fear.

Is Searching For. . .

His Vengeance Will Be Repeated...

A woman's slashed, incinerated corpse is found in a seedy New Orleans apartment. Her killer is certain there were no witnesses, unaware that his every move was seen by a beautiful stranger--from her bed in a bayou cottage on the outskirts of town. . .

And Repeated...

Lisa Jackson is the number-one New York Times bestselling author of over ninety-five novels, including the Rick Bentz and Reuben Montoya Series, the Pescoli and Alvarez Series, the Savannah series, and numerous stand alone novels. She also is the co-author of One Last Breath, Last Girl Standing, and the Colony Series, written with her sister and bestselling author Nancy Bush, as well as the collaborative novels Sinister and Ominous, written with Nancy Bush and Rosalind Noonan. There are over thirty million copies of her novels in print and her writing has been translated into twenty languages.

Before she became a nationally bestselling author, she was a mother struggling to keep food on the table by writing novels, hoping against hope that someone would pay her for them. Today, neck deep in murder, her books appear on The New York Times, USA Today, and Publishers Weekly national bestseller lists.

With dozens of bestsellers to her name, Lisa Jackson is a master of taking readers to the edge of sanity—and back—in novels that buzz with dangerous secrets and deadly passions. She continues to be fascinated by the minds and motives of both her killers and their pursuers—the personal, the professional, and the downright twisted. As she builds the puzzle of relationships, actions, clues, lies, and personal histories that haunt her protagonists, she must also confront the fear and terror faced by her victims and the harsh and enduring truth that, in the real world, terror and madness touch far too many lives and families.

So I kind of binged on a couple of her series and I found one cute little (annoying or endearing?) thing that I think every one of her books has, at one or more points in every book one of the characters ' take a corner too fast' while driving somewhere. I find myself thinking about all the different times I have been driving under tense conditions and trying to recall if I ever felt as if I was going too fast around a corner. Is it a daily mundane event that happens all the time and we skip over it until reading about it in every Lisa Jackson book?

Abhorrent Language!!

I know many say this speech is the way people speak today=not me. You are a good writer. I read another book and enjoyed it. It had a few swear words. The first book in this series, I believe first chapter, used words I don't want in my mind. Sorry to miss your good storytelling, because you, like many authors, feel the need for "so called realistic" dialog. Not for me.

Bentz and Montoya

Reading this bundle of stories of Bentz and Montoya gave hours of pleasure. After reading these stories I feel like I really know these guys and their families. There is just one problem I had, in an earlier book Montoya comes to the precinct where Bentz works. Montoya is from NO but Bentz is working in another state. Just a slight problem and I only noticed it because I have been on Lisa Jackson read-a-thon. I love her books!

The best mystery/thriller series I own! The Bentz/Montoya series is truly a work of art in every way. From the first book to the most recent the series had me hooked. (No spoilers!)

The series is set in New Orleans, Louisiana which helps add a paranormal feel to it on top of being a thriller/mystery. The two main characters, Rick Bentz and Reuben Montoya, are cops for the police department of New Orleans. Both have such defined and different personalities that work very well together. Bentz is an older more hardened man with his own past while Montoya is a more optimistic and "outside the box" type of cop. The two men become partners in solving some of the most gruesome cases in NOLA.

The series mainly revolves around hunting down serial killers who terrorize the city in their own unique ways. The books also take a look into the personal lives of the main characters along with the villains and victims. There is a bit of romance here and there, but it only helps add to the development of the stories. Now, I mentioned paranormal as it does play a role, think about the history of NOLA, but it's not the main theme or anything horrible unbelievable. There are even religious undertones, churches and convents, in the series that play a pretty good role throughout the books. Brings in a deeper meaning to what may be going on as you read. A way to bring the history and culture of this city into the books.

My personal favorite out of the whole series would be Absolute Fear as it takes place mostly at an old asylum, but I highly encourage you to read the books in order. The series does start off slow, I almost gave up, but I highly recommend just pushing the the first half of the first book. It is so worth it and there should be another series book coming out in the next few years!

The 'New Orleans' series by Lisa Jackson is a fantastic blend of suspense, mystery, and psychological intrigue which features the dynamic detective duo of Rick Bentz and Reuben Montoya. The stories take a deep dive into the gritty, atmospheric streets of New Orleans, where danger lurks around every corner.
From the chilling opening of Hot Blooded to the nail-biting twists in Cold Blooded and beyond, Ms. Jackson crafts a world filled with complex characters, dark secrets, and relentless tension. The detectives’ chemistry and their relentless pursuit of justice make them compelling protagonists, while the villains are disturbingly vivid, adding an extra layer of intensity to the stories. And just when I thought I had figured it out, she would throw in a curveball that ended up leaving me reeling.
The rich, moody setting of New Orleans adds a haunting backdrop, amplifying the suspense and immersing readers in the city’s unique charm and danger.
It’s a must-read for anyone who loves a good whodunit with a touch of Southern Gothic flair.
Happy Reading…

Not all of the

I prefer a sans serif font. The 1st and 2nd books in this boxed set do not convert to my chosen font, making the text very difficult for me to read.
