Blurb: From the moment Nathaniel laid eyes on Emmy Westerly, he wanted her in his life. He would do anything to get her there and keep her there. To his surprise, Nathaniel found himself quickly pulled into Emmy’s dark world of whips and blindfolds, kink and submission. He was intrigued not only by the thrill of it, but by the enigma which led Emmy there as well.
Emmy could not resist Nathaniel Walsh. She couldn’t deny the electricity between them, the utter animal magnetism she felt for him. Emmy was mystified by someone as honest and uncomplicated as Nathaniel allowing her to lead him into the dark. She adored having him at the tip of her lash.
But Emmy had secrets – deep, cruel truths which led her to Club Imperial, and staying with Nathaniel would mean telling him everything. He wasn’t ready for that. Neither was she.
Review
Hmmmmm I have mixed feelings towards this book. There were parts that caught my attention but there were other parts that totally bored me.
Emmy is a domme at Imperial an exclusive kink club. She is used to living her life by her rules. She loves having the same routine. Emmy has dark past that she doesn’t speak to. She had a horrible stepfather and her mom wasn’t there for her.
Nathaniel is rich, hot, sweet, kind of a boy next door. He is used to working and having the sense of accomplishments. He is not an alpha male…more of a submissive.
Ok, here is my problem with this story. I read of all types of books. So, when I started this book I wanted to love it, I wanted to feel a connection with the characters.. but that did not happened. Emmy, frustrated me at times.. There were times when she was so vague with everything… yet she wanted to be with Nathaniel without letting him in not even a bit. I loved that she was upfront about everything and really told him how she felt about a relationship and what she wanted from him. Nathaniel, Jesus Christ seriously…. There were times when Emmy did anything she wanted and he didn’t even say anything. Usually the heroine tends to frustrate me.. But in this case he did. I felt like he was just going with the motion.. Like he wanted to be with her and he was just accepting anything he could give her. I wanted them to have a 50/50 relationship but at the end I felt like they didn’t even had a relationship to begin with.
The sex scenes were hot and there were a lot… but I didn’t feel a connection with either of them. At times I found myself skipping some pages because I had figured out what was going to happened. I loved Victor though for some reason he stood out more than Emmy and Nathaniel…mostly because what he went through which was damn messed up. I hope the author writes a HEA for him.
Sooooo.. good sex scenes, hot female domme, sexy hero. I hope you read this and decide for yourself about this book. I’m in no way trying to bash this author.
Hope Emmy and Nathaniel find their way on the second book.
