Pride and Prejudice what if story. Mr Bennet and Elizabeth are in an accident after the fateful proposal at Hunsford. Mr Bennet is killed and it was believed that Elizabeth was killed as well. But was this truly an accident or did someone plot to harm the Bennet family? A young lady is discovered and nursed back to health only to find she has no memory of who she is. What does her future hold?
I am a retired crime lab/crime scene technician, having worked for a local police department for 15 years. Since then, I have become disabled. Forgot to get the extended warranty on the body. In my spare time, I make jewelry, am a photographer, and a full time mom and grandma. My daughter by birth is Catie, and she is the dearest part of my life. Through her, I have 2 daughters by heart, Heather and Kristina. Through Heather and her awesome man, Stan, I have 4 amazing grandchildren, Purgi, Penne, Myles, and Persephene. Besides my human family, I have a canine son, who is my service dog, Darcy. I also have 4 feline daughters (Salem, Lizzy, Dagonet, and Freya ). I now have 5 grandpuppies, 2 grandkitties. Two days after I received my first ever royalty check, I adopted Darcy and Lizzy. Fitting names, I thought. And they resemble the characters. Lizzy is mischievous, yet loving, climbing up high as if she were in a tree. Darcy is extremely protective and loving. He has his shy side, which is clear when around some people, until he comes to know he can trust them.
Quite enjoyed this book. The infamous proposal at Hunsford did I needed happen, but the outcome was much different. When Bingley and Darcy returned to Netherfield to each see there Bennet sister, finding out that one young man was going to be grieving so much so that his wish was to die to join her. Loving people find the missing Bennet girl and nurse her back to life. As she recovers, short bursts of memory invade. These lost memories keep the lovers separated for many months. The unhappy young man despondent losing his only love, gets the surprise of his life when he opens one of his Christmas gifts. He realizes that the stitching matches the stitching on the one item he has left from his lady love. He finds her, brings her home where her family is visiting, and quickly they marry. Unfortunately, the three evil people in our story continue to try to kill the one Bennet sister that was supposed to die. I'm sorry for being very vague, but didn't want to reveal much.
Just about the time you think you have read a variation of Pride and Prejudice where Caroline Bingley, George Wickham, and/or Lady Catherine de Bourgh can’t be any worse than the last variation you read, then “BAM”, another book comes along and knocks that thought right out of your head! Darcy blows his Hunsford proposal once again, and when realization hits that he deserved Elizabeth’s refusal, and when he sees Bingley he confesses his faulty judgment. When they return to Netherfield and visit Longbourn, they find out what has happened to the Bennets from Mrs. Collins. Besides himself, he drinks his way to oblivion to ease the pain of losing Elizabeth. Bingley and Jane get back together and plan to marry. Colonel Fitzwilliam and Bingley get him back on the right path so that at least he is again functioning. Jane tells him that she feels in her heart that Lizzy is still alive somewhere. All Darcy has is his memories and a stitched handkerchief that Lizzy had embroidered that he confiscated when she dropped it while at Rosings. Lady Matlock and Georgiana go shopping and discover hand stitched items for sale. Both are impressed by the quality and design of the stitching. Georgiana buys for her brother and Mrs. Reynolds for Christmas presents. Lady Matlock is so impressed that she takes the name of the lady that donated the items for the charity sale planning to commission more stitched items. Some how in confusion Georgiana mixes up the packages of handkerchiefs and Darcy gets the ones for Mrs. Reynolds. He knows that these were stitched by Lizzy. The race to find Lizzy is on! They know that she is alive somewhere, now to find her and bring her home. As Elizabeth begins to remember her past, she realizes that she’s fallen in love with Darcy. They marry, but the sinister three, haven’t ended their quest to end Elizabeth. The author ties up the dastardly trio nice and neatly. When Elizabeth goes into labor with their first child, the lengths the entire estate of Pemberley goes through to keep Darcy from the house is humorous. The HEA ending was worth getting to. Loved this story.
Too many regency inaccuracies to count, and implausible situations and character development. Elizabeth, with no memory, marries a stranger two days after ‘meeting’ him? In confronting a murderer, a character called their heinous acts merely “inappropriate behavior”? This was an interesting plot that had potential but the writing and execution was just not strong.
This story of love and loss was one of the best variations I have read in a while. This author had a unique, well thought out idea, one that was new to me. However, there were several errors that were missed by the editor. I highly recommend.
I really enjoyed the plot in this book. There were a couple major errors in this book which I do not want to point out due to spoiling anything. However, it was more of an editing problem. There were a couple things stated, then later completely ignored in the story line or was entirely contradicted. But aside from that, it was enjoyable read.
The plot is full of excitement, wildly unrealistic, but lots of fun. This author is a go to when a bit of outrageous escapism is called for.
This is one of the author's earlier books and it is rather error strewn. The author has worked significantly on her editing and is to be highly commended for that.
A Pride and Prejudice variation, which takes place after the proposal at Hunsford. Mr Bennet and Elizabeth are involved in a carriage accident whereby Mr Bennett dies, and Elizabeth is lost for many months. In part more Mrs Radcliffe than Jane Austen.
This is one of my favorite stories by this author. It is so heartwarming and romantic. I'm putting today's date down, but I think I've read it at least 4 or 5 times over the last 5 years.
I highly recommend it. Such a romantic Mr. Darcy, swoon!
