Sarah Jayne Carr is a novelist who can be found most evenings with a cup of tea in-hand and her imagination racing from plot to plot. When away from her work, part of her mind is constantly brainstorming her next story and she always has writing paraphernalia within reach.

She wrote stories as a child, but became more serious about her passion during her twenties. In her spare time, she likes to read, splash in mud puddles, smell bookstores and eat Honeycrisp apples. Yearly, she participates in NaNoWriMo and has mentored others through the program. Due to her dedication to National Novel Writing Month, she is part of an amazing writing group.

Born and raised in Washington State, Sarah still resides in the area. Her life is richly filled with her supportive, yet swashbuckling husband and their golden Nugget.

Reading order of the JackRabbit7 series:
The ones with an asterisk are the short stories I wrote. They're backstories on the supporting characters and how their lives intertwine with Amelia's and/or JackRabbit7.

***Guest Review From Amy Conley For The Nerd Girl Page***

Amelia Hamilton is trying to make a new life for herself and forget her haunting past but it seems life has other plans in store for her. Surrounded by secretive friends, an abusive and hateful boyfriend, and a demanding job. Things spiral out of control after a trip to the beach and Amelia soon learns one decision can affect many more and she's in deeper than she ever thought she would be..

My Review:
Even though it's a short story it's a very interesting read that piques your curiosity just enough that your left wanting a whole lot more it's a fantastic prequel that gets readers ready to dive right into book one (cause let's face it with a ending like that you have to read on to find out what happens next.. right? LOL)!! I enjoyed reading this book and look forward to reading more books by this author in the future!

The main character Amelia is very interesting. She has a dark past and it seems to have left her scarred. She's in a relationship that's not good for her at all. I am thinking that is because of her past. There is another male character that is just a friend, but the story makes you feel they should get together. Something happens while Amelia is at the beach with her friends. It's secretive and dark. The incident makes you want to know more and find out what is going on.

The story starts out interesting and mysterious... always a good combination. I can't wait to find out more of the story.

I loved the parts pertaining to Amelia's past best. It fleshed out the character and deleted the feeling so many shorts leave - one of wanting.
Amelia is a good solid character, not so herboyfriend.
The dark and gory sections were done realistically and added to my enjoyment of the book in total.

This is the prequel to the main book Revealing Hamilton. It gives you the beginning of where Amelia, Kyra, Janae, and Connor fit into each other’s lives. Amelia has been receiving calls with no one on the other end starting the process that leads into the beginning of this series.

This prequel was short but most definitely sweet. This book was a rollercoaster of emotions, but I felt like I really got to know the main character and her friends. It made me hungry to know more, I can't wait to read book one!

This prequel was given to me by the author in exchange for an honest review.

This is the prequel for Sarah’s series; JackRabbit 7. The prequel gives you a sample of Sarah’s style in writing and lets you decide if you want to read more.

Amelia Hamilton has good friends, a job and a boyfriend. What more could she want? Ok, she lives in a part of the town known for drug dealers, shootings and fights. Yes, her boyfriend got some ”issues”, but it could be worse, right? And now Connor asked her to move in with him. Should she do it? To add more trouble into the equation, Mia’s got a phone stalker calling her every night.

There is more than meets the eye when it comes to Mia. Sarah hints at her past (without divulging too much info), and I can sense deep hurt, tragedy and loneliness. At least she got some good friends now. Jenae and her brother, Donovan is the closest friends Mia’s got, but even they don’t know everything. And yes, she does have Connor (her boyfriend), but seriously? She needs to dump his ass- he’s such a douchebag. And I’m putting it lightly here!

The ending is… uhmm, well, not for everybody. It is a bit gory, but I like it. Then again, I’m studying to become a vet – it takes a lot to faze me when it comes to gory things :-)

I really liked the feeling I got from this prequel. It is gritty, a bit dark and sinister and VERY mysterious.

Sarah’s writing grabbed me for the all too short pages, made me turn them faster and faster. In the end, I wanted to know more about Amelia (Mia) and her troubles –and boy is she in some kind of trouble! Not to forget, I want to know if there’s going to happen more between Donovan and Mia – there’s something going on, the question is; will it evolve? I want to know who her phone stalker is, and if she will leave Connor (she deserves better!).

This is a great short read that left me wanting to know more, and what do you do when you want to know more? I just bought Revealing Hamilton (JackRabbitt7 novel #1). :-) Put Sarah Jayne Carr on your “Keep an eye on” list, because – damn! Great read, great author!

The Review
I loved this little novella, it is a prequel to the Jack Rabbit7 series, I can’t wait to read the rest in this series, in this one we meet Amelia, her life is so messed up, but she is such a complex character, that you just fall in love with her, This author has such a wicked sense of humour, such a wicked & twisted mind, I am sticking everything this author does on my wishlist and I will be working my way through them all, I love this series already and I have only read the prequel, I don’t want to give too much away, but really think there should be more between Amelia and Donovan, there just seems to be something laying in the wings with these two, I will never look at heats in the same way again, Highly recommend to all my friends, 5/5

Review:4.5 stars
General: This book was a great little intro read. There was just enough information floating around to realize you were about to get involved in a much bigger story. The plot was a great pace and filled with both entertaining moments as well as moments where you could feel a sense of something wasn't right or was about to be not right as well as the darkness at the end...which I won't spoil. The characters were at a good intro level for me. I wished we were given some sort of narration on Amelia because I enjoyed her but would've loved seeing her from the get go (I know this may have been written after book 1 but since I started here I wanted it here because I'm a visual reader). I loved the world building in this book best of all because I felt very drawn in and connected without having to try very hard. I'm excited to see where this goes because Amelia's backstory and current situation are very compelling.

Review: pRevealing Hamilton by Sarah Jayne Carr

I received this book as a gift from the author in exchange for an unbiased review.....

Where to begin with this captivating yet, emotionally charged and compelling introducton into a world of abuse, greed, and secrets?

The author has done a fantastic job of tackling a difficult subject--domestic abuse, for one. This prequel sets up the backgrounds of the major characters in a very clear, clean and picturesque way.

Amelia, our main character is a strong-willed individual who comes across a bit indecisive about making certain adjustments to her living arrangments until the story twists and brings the decision to the forefront. Nice job!

This is only the beginning of the story. I can't wait to see where Sarah Jayne Carr takes these characters in book #1 Revealing Hamilton.

Prevealing Hamilton: A JackRabbit 7 Prequel by Sarah Jayne Carr

The prequel to Revealing Hamilton has Amelia Hamilton trying to forget her past. She has an abusive boyfriend, her friends seem to be hiding things from her, she just wants to lead a normal life.

A great informative story, with a bit of a background on Amelia. Well written, I really got the feel of what she is going through. I read Revealing Hamiltonand loved it, I am now reading book three in the Jackrabbit 7 series, Embracing Hamilton.

I read pRevealing Hamilton after I read Revealing Hamilton. I have to say, this prequel set up the series nicely! After I read this, I went back and re-read Revealing Hamilton, and the prequel did so much to enhance the experience. She did a great job introducing us to Amelia and Don - a nice preview of their relationship. With just the right amount of creepiness, the scene in Amelia's apartment had me holding my breath. If you've already read Revealing Hamilton, read this and then re-read it. You won't be disappointed. Great job Sarah!

I was offered this book by this amazing author. I really enjoyed and and am now quite intrigued as to the next chapter of the story. I had to buy the next book and am looking forward to seeing what happens next. I would also say that Sarah communicated directly with me and her personal attention to her readers is incredible and I had not even read one of her books yet. Not only a 5 star book but a 5 star author. :)

A short prequel into the life of Amelia Hamilton gives us more insight of the novel and the series, and her as a character. One word for us meat eaters - chicken.

It doesn't give up too much information, but if you've read her first novel, then it gives you just enough. In short, it's a well written piece, that leaves us wanting another shot of JackRabbit7into our bloodstreams!

This was one of the smallest and cutest prequels I’ve ever read. You can see how naïve was Amelia before everything happens. How she leaved her life when she knew nothing about her past. And generally, you read the story thinking of how a small miscalculation in time can lead to a series of events and a change of a person’s whole life.

Great read

A little look at Amelia and her friends before the events in Revealing Hamilton. It's fascinating. I read it out of order but I still think it could be read before or after Revealing Hamilton and still be just as intriguing! The Jackrabbit 7 series is unbelievably exciting and I'm only into book 2! I can't wait for the rest.
