A cozy seasonal read about following your heart and finding true happiness. A nice way to relax amidst the holiday hustle and bustle and savor the small moments of the season.
A Christmas story by DM has been my holiday tradition. I've been reading her Christmas romance annually and this year's edition didn't disappoint. If you read last year, Jingle All the Way you'll know the story was not very Christmassy, a jungle cruise?! 😏
Dear Santa is a sweet Christmas romance. Heartbreak, Christmas wishes-"Dear Santa", returning home to friends and family, and falling in love. A quick and enjoyable story!

Lindy & Billy meet again when she's back in town for the holiday. She thought she did something to upset him back in elementary school and just had to apologize many years later. They get to spending some time together and feel a spark.
I needed something to listen to while I was shopping and I'm glad I picked this one. This is my 3rd book by this author and my favorite so far. It was cute and sweet and gives a warm holiday feeling. I really liked how the magic of Santa was brought into the story.
I look forward to Debbie Macomber’s Christmas novel every year for the cozy sense of family, warmth, and seasonal good cheer every book brings. ⛄🎅❄
In DEAR SANTA, Lindy has experienced a series of disappointments and betrayals. She leaves Seattle for a two week break from her job and goes back home to her parents where her mother has her look through old letters to Santa. I thought this Christmas romance really worked well because not only did it have a lovely romance, but the holiday piece, with the charming letters to Santa, and just the right touch of magic was pulled off so nicely. Billy, a kid who used to tease her in school, has grown up to be a very nice man, and he and Lindy hit it off. But now Lindy has to choose between a life in Seattle and a life in her hometown. This was a sweet romance that’s definitely one of my favorites! ❤🎄
This is a Christmas Romance. Debbie Macomber is one of my favorite authors, and I really love her Christmas books. This book screams Christmas, so if you are looking for a book with a ton of Christmas and Christmas feeling then this is the book for you. I loved this story. I found this book to be cute and sweet. I loved the romance in this book. I loved all the characters in this book.
I also brought a CD audiobook of this book for my Grandmother, and she loved this book a lot as well.
Beautiful Christmas Romance by Debbie Macomber, a leading Author of Women's Fiction. Every Year it's tradition for me to read her newly released Christmas novel. Dear Santa did not disappoint this reader and her book warmly embraced me with the spirit of Christmas. Her Christmas stories are light and uplifting. Debbie never fails to completely draw me into her books. I found Dear Santa to be entertaining and a fun read. Lindy Carmichael takes a break from her graphic designer job in Seattle and travels home to her family in Wenatchee, Washington. The year hasn't been good for her and she needs a good dose of motherly love and Christmas cheer. At her Mother's suggestion Lindy reads her letters to Santa that she wrote as a child. Memories warm her heart but one memory of an older elementary school bully makes her glad those years are gone. That is until she meets up with that grown up bully, when Lindy and friends spend an evening in his wine establishment. She soon sees another side of Billy Kincade that she hadn't noticed in elementary school. She enjoys being around Billy and the person he is now. But unfortunately all too soon her Christmas vacation comes to an end and she must go back to her job in Seattle. What will become of her new relationship with Billy ? Should she consider moving back home or return to her promising career in Seattle? I recommend Dear Santa to readers of Women's Fiction and for fans of Debbie Macomber. If you enjoy reading a great Christmas Romance you will enjoy this novel. This book is a stand alone read. I borrowed a copy of this book from the local library. A review was not requested. All opinions expressed here are my own.
I so needed this sweet romance. Sigh… perfect. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Right from the beginning of the book my heart was just singing. It’s a sweet simple sappy story that just had me smiling throughout the entire book.
The plot is familiar and the story is a clean romance. But it’s perfectly written in such a uplifting manner. It reminds us that even when we struggle and we have heartbreaks in our life, something good usually comes out of it. They say when a door doesn’t open, it wasn’t supposed to be your door, and that’s what the story is all about.
Lighthearted and refreshing Dear Santa is just a special story that brings a smile to your face and provides a beautiful escape for a few hours. Definitely one to pick up and read over and over.
In the Author’s Note, Macomber shares a story about how this story came to be, a brief question of an eleven-year-old girl, her husband’s cousin’s granddaughter, a girl who had decided she wanted to write books. When she asked this young girl when she decided she wanted to write books, her answer was “I knew when I started writing Santa letters.’
This story begins when Lindy Carmichael heads home for Christmas, with two full weeks to spend with her family before she has to return to her job in Seattle. Her dream job.
Lindy arrives, and soon after her mother shares an old shoe box with Lindy, containing some of Lindy’s things, including her letters to Santa. At first she can’t understand why her mother kept this, and isn’t interested in reading them, but her mother insists. Opening the box, she reads what she had written in her first letter to Santa, written when she was five:
’Dear Santa, Please bring me a daddy. Lindy’
She continues to rummage through the box, and discovers the other letters to Santa, including one saying that he ’should give Billy Kincade coal. He’s mean. He pulls my hair at school and chases me at recess.’
When she’s finished reading all her old letters to Santa, her mother tells her that she thinks that Lindy needs to write another letter to Santa, that ’maybe a letter letting him know what you’d like most this Christmas is exactly what you need to do. And write it with the same trust you had as a child.’ She takes her advice, and as the days go by she struggles with leaving these people behind, but she is also completely dedicated to the job she’s worked so hard for the success she’s achieved there, and can’t imagine uprooting her life in Seattle.
This is a sweet story, if perhaps slightly predictable, but enjoyable nevertheless.
Dear Santa by Debbie Macomber is a contemporary romance that is set during the Christmas holiday season. This sweet romance is one of finding hope again during the holidays.
Lindy Carmichael has returned to her hometown of Wenatchee, Washington to spend time with her family for Christmas even though Lindy is not the most cheerful herself. Lindy had thought she had a wonderful relationship until she found out that her boyfriend had been cheating with her best friend.
Lindy’s mother wanted to cheer up Lindy when she arrived so she shared Lindy’s old childhood letters to Santa with her. After reading the stories from when she was young Lindy can’t help but hope for a little Christmas magic to still exist and writes another letter wishing for a new best friend and boyfriend this Christmas.
Having already read and enjoyed many stories from Debbie Macomber I was not surprised to find myself completely enjoying Dear Santa. This one was slightly a second chance romance with the characters having known each other in childhood and it was full of Christmassy fun. Everyone could use a little bit of hope in the holiday season and the author did a wonderful job bringing hope to life in the story. Great feel good read for the season.
I received an advance copy from the publisher via NetGalley.
2.5 stars. I couldn’t get myself to like this book no matter how hard I tried.
The story was weird and it was hard to connect to the characters. Especially our MC Lindy. Let me tell you something folks, do not leave your dream job you just received a promotion from for a boy you have known for a week. Not in this economy. Not ever. Lindy needs to set her priorities straight.
The love interest Billy was weird. He reminded me of the Man Bun guy from Brooklyn 99. (It appears his name is Constantine for the fellow B99 fans.) And it has nothing to do with his hair. He was rushing into everything and it weirded me out. He asked Lindy to move to their hometown so they could be together when they’ve been dating for A FEW DAYS. Like, excuse me? It was not cute. If someone I dated for literally 3 days asked me to move to a whole different city for them, I’d throw hands and dip. No joke.
Peggy, the so-called best friend, was also very creepy. She made me feel like I was reading a horror book. She was doing EVERYTHING in her power to make Lindy stay. And whenever Lindy refused, she literally manipulated her. She made her believe the reason she didn't want to leave her stable job in the biggest company in her field and her apartment with a lease was because Lindy didn't want to make her ex feel like he won. HOW ARE THE TWO CONNECTED? Also, Peggy asked Lindy to be her housemate since she "needed one" and I know for a fact she murdered her old housemate so Lindy could move in.
And lastly Dede, Billy’s sister. Now we don’t get to see her much but I’d like to talk about the chat she had with Lindy towards the end of the book. She said she was scared Billy wouldn’t be able to focus on his work when Lindy, the girl he has known for a week, leaves. If his ability to focus and work ethic is that bad, he shouldn’t be running a business in the first place. And Dede, you shouldn’t have invested a lot of money into a boy with the mental capacity of a frying pan.
I don’t even want to talk about the plot because for the life of me, I don’t know what this book was about? Leave everyone you know, your dream job, and your beautiful apartment behind just because you’re horny during the holiday season? Is that it?
Honestly, I wouldn’t recommend this book to anyone. The whole story felt so fake and rushed. You can do better things with your life. I believe everyone who rated this book 5 stars was drunk on eggnog while writing their reviews.
An adult woman writes a letter to Santa after revisiting her childhood letters and all her wishes come true. A very endearing and heartfelt story. Much like a Hallmark Christmas movie. It gives you all the feels.
Dear Santa by Debbie Macomber is a sweet, holiday romance that is both heartwarming and delightful. This book could easily turn into a Hallmark movie as it’s everything you’d expect on the Hallmark Channel for a holiday movie. There are enough cute Christmassy events, but not too much to make it saccharine.
Lindy Carmichael returns to her parent’s home in Wenatchee, Washington, for Christmas. She has two weeks to spend with her parents and spend time with her friends. Leaving her home in Seattle is just the break she needs now as she recently caught her boyfriend and best friend together and she’s feeling down about the job that is not giving her the creative outlet she needs. At home, she finds an old box of letters she wrote to Santa as a child. Reading the letters, she realized that most of them have come true.
While in her hometown, she runs into her childhood nemesis, Billy, who owns and manages The Wine Press, a local restaurant. She realized that Billy was a bully to her during school because he liked her. And she also feels bad that she asked Santa to put a lump of coal in Billy’s stocking when they were little, and then shortly after that, Billy and his family left town.
Debbie Macomber can write a sweet, lovely Christmas story like nobody else. She balances some tough issues, inside a sweet small town, with just a bit of Christmas magic that is perfect for the holiday season. I could feel the conflict that Lindy was going through and couldn’t wait for her to find her way to happiness. As usual, this Debbie Macomber Christmas story does not disappoint.
I recommend this book to anyone looking for a sweet holiday romance. I received a complimentary copy of this book. The opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
I have read quite a few books by Debbie Macomber, but I must say, this one is one of my favorites.
Dear Santa is a beautifully written sweet, heartwarming, romantic novel. Put down any book you're reading right now and read Dear Santa by Debbie Macomber!!!!
Lindy Carmichael lives in Seattle, Washington. Lindy works at Media Blast which is a marketing and website design company, which has been her dream job. Lindy has been very stressed out and has had a hard 3 years of her life. Lindy has two full weeks of vacation off from work, so she decides to go home to Wenatchee, Washington to spend Christmas and New Year's with her family.
In the meantime Lindy has been home, she reconnects with her childhood best friend Peggy, and sees Billy Kincade, who Lindy disliked in elementary school because he would always pull her ponytail. When Lindy returns home her mom, Ellen Carmichael shows her all the letters Lindy has wrote to Santa when she was a child. Lindy reads through them and remembered she asked Santa to bring Billy nothing but a bag of coal.
After that Lindy never saw Billy at school because he moved somewhere else and Lindy thought it was because of her, but when Lindy reconnects with Billy she learns that he moved away because Billy's father left the family.
I won't say anymore because if I keep writing this review I will spoil the whole story and I don't want to do that. You have to stop everything you're doing and reading and immediately read Dear Santa by Debbie Macomber because it was one of my favorites by her.
This was such a fun read. It reminded me of a Hallmark movie. Lindy and Billy were the best characters and they had so much fun. I love a new romance. This is one holiday read that you are going to be happy to read. I love the whole believe part of the season. 4 stars and I recommend this one.
This is a really uplifting and warm hearted holiday read that is quick to read with an unusual premise. Lindy Carmichael has had a tough year. Her best friend and roommate got her own place only to take Lindy's boyfriend with her. Her dream job of designing websites turns sour with the employees giving her a cold shoulder because another employee wanted her job. With long hours and hard work to prove herself, she deserves the two week vacation at Christmas. She leaves Seattle and heads home to Wenatchee, a few hours away, to recuperate and relax. At her mother's suggestion, she reads old letters that she wrote to Santa.as a young girl. Why in the world? Her mom wants her to see how Santa answered her wishes, beginning with getting a daddy. She suggests that Lindy write a new letter to Santa with her wishes and concerns. What a release and sense of peace she found after putting her concerns on paper. Her wishes begin to come true when she connects with an old friend and then a bully boy from her childhood that might be not such a bully. Fun, romance, family time, special holiday blessings given and received and a new perspective on life make this a great read to get in some Christmas spirit. I received a complimentary ARC from Random House Publishing Group, Ballentine Books and NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are mine only.
Every year I have two favorite authors that are guaranteed automatic Christmas reads, Melody Carlson and Debbie Macomber, You are guaranteed a warm and fabulous read with every book you read of hers. Home for Christmas. Lindy has two full weeks off to celebrate the holidays with her family. She needs that nostalgia to escape personal and work problems that have plagued her over the last six months. To be surrounded by love is what she needs most. Home and Christmas. The perfect combination to help her out of her deep emotional slump. With a little Christmas magic she finds true friendship and love where she least expects it. I adored this sweet and whimsical Christmas romance about family, friendship, love and forgiveness. It will bring warmth to your heart, and a smile to your face!
Thanks so much to Random House Publishing Group - Ballantine via NetGalley for kindly providing an arc in exchange for an honest review.
DEAR SANTA introduces you to Lindy who is having a difficult time this Christmas. Lindy Carmichael takes a break from her graphic designer job in Seattle. She travels home to her family in Wenatchee, Washington. Leaving her home in Seattle is just the break she needs now as she recently caught her boyfriend and best friend together. Wow, all I can say is, this story blew me away! Keep the tissues close by as you are reading DEAR SANTA by Debbie Macomber. She will have your emotions all over the place. Once I started reading, it was very hard to stop! The twists and turns made it impossible to put down, as I had to know what was going to happen to Lindy after so much heartache! What an awesome story. All of Debbie’s characters feel genuine and relatable and put your emotions on one heck of a roller coaster ride. As you are reading, you will find yourself cheering for all of them, praying they can work out their problems and be happy once again. You will also wonder how much heartache a person can stand before they completely break down and shatter.
DEAR SANTA will have you giggling out loud, at the same time holding your breath. The way Lindy freaked out was totally expected and I’m sure I would have done the same thing. DEAR SANTA is all about family and the past and the secrets that come out are heart tugging. It had me flipping through the pages like a woman on a mission. I had to know what was going to happen to Lindy and all the secondary characters. Maybe she can find the meaning of her life once again. While in her hometown, Lindy runs into her childhood nemesis, Billy, who manages and owns The Wine Press which is a local restaurant. She realizes that Billy was a bully to her during school because he liked her. DEAR SANTA is a heart tugging story that will hold you hostage until the very last page. Once you start reading, it will be very hard to put down!
I have never met a Debbie Macomber story that didn’t pull on my heart strings and DEAR SANTA did not disappoint. It is kind of predictable but I still loved every minute of it. It is a sweet story filled with family, emotions that will have you smiling and tearing up, second chances and no bad language or sex scenes. I look forward to Debbie Macomber’s holiday stories every year and as soon as I know they are coming I’m filled with excitement. Debbie has a way of pulling her readers right in and making them fall in love with all of her characters. I found myself cheering for Lindy and hoping she would be able to remember what Christmas is all about.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from Ballantine Books through Netgalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
Lindy is a web designer in Seattle who has just submitted a proposal for an important job. She isn't thrilled with the company--since she was hired over an existing employee with friends there, her coworkers aren't very friendly. She's taking her two week vacation at Christmas, returning to her hometown to spend the holidays with her family. Her mom is delighted, and brings out the old letters to Santa Lindy wrote as a kid. Mom suggests she write a new letter to Santa, and even though she is embarrassed, she does, requesting a special man and a best friend. (Her previous boyfriend took up with her best friend, leaving her hurt and unhappy.) Lindy reconnects with an old friend in town, Peggy, and a guy she remembered from grade school, Billy. With the help of a little Christmas magic, Lindy gets her happily ever ending. If you are looking for a feel-good holiday romance, this one checks all of the boxes. Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for the ARC.
I just love Debbie's books, and especially her christmas books! This book was perfect for getting me into the holiday mood. I listened to the audiobook, narrated by Debbie Macomber and Keylor Leigh. It was really well done. This book has all the charm you look for in a christmas book. Lindy goes home to celebrate christmas with her family, and while there, reconnects with her first childhood love. Just perfect!
Thank you to the publisher and author for the gifted copy in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.
Dear Santa feels like old school Debbie Macomber in the most magical ways. If you’re a holiday romance fan, watcher made for tv Holiday movies once you get into this one, you know the beats to expect- you’re aware of how the story is going to go but it’s the joy of the ride. It exudes holiday joy. If you’re already a Debbie Macomber fan you’ll enjoy this but I think if you’ve been contemplating giving her a start, this is an excellent starter book. Her Christmas romances were the first I ever read by her though so I may be a bit bias
Loved it! I always look forward to Debbie's Christmas romances and this one did not disappoint. Sure to get you in the holiday festive mood. A feel good story that I pretty much read in one sitting on a flight home from Seattle. What was so fun was that we'd just visited my brother in Manson, WA and we landed at the Wenatchee airport and the very first line of the book mentions Wenatchee and later mentions Leavenworth, which was another fun town that we visited. That made the story extra special for me.
