چالرز تيلي جامعهشناس و مورخ برجسته آمريکايي و يکي از محققين تاريخ انقلاب ها در جوامع بشري به شمار ميآيد . وي در اين کتاب که اولين بار به سال ۱۹۹۳ منتشر گرديد به بررسي جامعه شناسانه تاريخ انقلاب هاي اروپايي از اوايل عصر جديد تا به امروز مي پردازد.رويدادهاي انقلابي و به ياد ماندني قاره اروپا انقلاب شکوهمند ۱۶۸۸ انگلستان،انقلاب ۱۷۹۸ فرانسه و انقلاب اکتبر ۱۹۱۷ روسيه- در کانون توجهات اين نويسنده قرار گرفته است و به انقلاب در ساير کشورهاي اين قاره و از جمله تحولات دهه اخير در اروپاي شرقي و مرکز نيز اشاراتي رفته است.کتاب انقلاب هاي اروپايي که در سال ۱۹۹۵ جايزه اروپايي جامعه شناسي و علوم اجتماعي را به خود اختصاص داد، بازگويي صرفا ساده از رويدادهاي تاريخي نيست بلکه نويسنده در اين کتاب، تاريخ انقلاب هاي بزرگ و کوچک در اروپا را از منظري جامعه شناسانه و علمي مورد تجزيه و تحليل قرار داده و آنها را از زواياي مختلف با يکديگر مقايسه کرده است.

An amazing book which provides readers with a very solid and methodological way of understanding how revolutions happen at the very beginning of the book. In the following pages Tilly takes readers into the depths of history of revolutions in Europe. It is a must-read book if you are interested in History, Europe and or revolutions.

اگر به بحث انقلابهای اروپایی علاقه داشته باشین، کتاب جامعی در این موضوع هست که در اولین صفحات نقشهی اروپا رو نشون میده و بخشی رو به تعریف انقلاب و انواع انقلاب اختصاص داده و بعد انقلابهای کشورهایی مثل بریتانیا، فرانسه، روسیه و ... توضیح داده و در آخر هم تاثیر این انقلابها رو بر اروپا تحلیل کرده است.
