Lights! Camera! Murder! Trinket and the gang, beware! Hollywood descends on Holly Springs, and soon it's up to the Divas to keep the stars from falling like magnolia blooms in a trailer-park tornado. Someone doesn't want DARK SECRETS UNDER THE HOLLY to reach the big screen. He--or she--is willing to kill locals, movie stars, and maybe even Divas to stop it. Diva-sister Dixie Lee Forsythe wrote the juicy tell-all about a historic Mississippi town very much like Holly Springs, and a lot of townsfolk would be happy to strangle her. Bitty is in a blond lather over a gossipy story line about a philandering Senator who very much resembles her late husband. And even Trinket's a little miffed at Dixie Lee's oh-so-recognizable Trinket Truevine character, described as, "built like a girls' basketball coach--not necessarily a female one." Dixie Lee starts getting mysterious death threats, an actress brings being a diva to heights even Bitty can't match, and a production assistant is murdered. If Trinket, Bitty, and the Divas don't solve this case quick, Oscars season in Tinsel Town will be short a whole bunch of stars.
Since writing her first romance novel in 1984, Virginia Brown has written nearly 50 romance novels. Many of her books have been nominated for Romantic Times' Reviewer's Choice, Career Achievement Award for Love and Laughter, and Career Achievement Award for Adventure. Her works regularly appear on national bestseller lists. Having written under several different names about historical eras such as the old West, Regency-era, and the American Civil War, she now writes under a new pseudonym, Juliana Garnett, to focus upon the medieval era.
A native of Tennessee, Virginia spent her childhood traveling with her parents as a "military brat,” living all over the US and in Japan. This influenced her love of travel and adventure, which is reflected in her work.
Twice a year, Virginia visits England to research her novels, and includes Scotland in her travels. She feels this adds a new dimension to her work, and enables her to more authentically impart the true flavor of the geographical and historical sites.
In addition to appearing on the nationally syndicated television program What's Hot, What's Not, Virginia Brown has been interviewed by Jane Pauley on the Today Show, and regularly appears on local television and radio shows in addition to coverage by the press. She also experienced a first for a romance writer by appearing on the cover of Memphis, the magazine.
Virginia is the mother of four grown children, and now enjoys her menagerie of dogs that includes a fat beagle, two part-chows, a hound and five cats. As the grandmother of three lovely children, one of her greatest pleasures these days is visiting with Justin, Christina, and Gaby.
If you want to laugh out loud this is the book for you. I've read other Diva mysteries and liked each o them. If you are looking for blood and guts, you'll probably pass this book up.....but if you are familiar with the north Mississippi/Memphis area and southern womanhood, get this book. Trinket and cousin Bitty have become extras in a movie being shot in Holly Springs where they live. Naturally, nothing goes smoothly when the cousins get friendly with the movie folks and try to help solve three murders and nearly become victims themselves.
Another enjoyable "visit" with the Dixie Divas. Murder and mayhem ensue when a movie crew comes to Holly Springs and Trinket and Bitty get involved in trying to solve the crime(s). I listened on Audible and usual the narrator did a great job of bringing the book to life. Very fun books
I'm glad that I'm finally through with this series. You really only need to read the first one to guess what happens in the remaining five.
Lots of drinking and eating Southern food. A couple of Dixie Diva meetings with strippers (because it's scandalous). Trinket and Bitty stumble on a dead body. Instead of minding their own business, they snoop where they shouldn't. Trinket complains about Bitty doing anything. Bitty displaying her wealth for no reason. The ladies getting jealous and throwing shade at other women. Bitty and Trinket do something embarrassing in front of many people. The killer kidnapping Trinket and Bitty, but them getting rescued miraculously.
Love her Diva books, but if you read the others you could skip a lot of chapters because she is telling you things you already know. Also I wish she would not have called her cousin clueless so many times!! We are some what smart and could figure her cluelessness out. it started to sound like the one calling the names could be called a few herself. Loved all her other books fun and cooky.
I enjoy reading the Divas! I cannot get enough! It is a laugh out loud, funny, enjoyable time of reading or listening! It is so much more enjoyable to listen to the audible! I laugh so hard I cry!! This is one series that I will be reading and listening to over & over again!
This is my favorite "Divas" book to date. I listened to it on audible on a cross-country road trip. It has a great plot, plenty of action and a lot of humor.
