Rate this book
Can a virgin be a whore? I guess it depends on your definition of the word. Working a minimum wage job, I was struggling to save up money for college. Things were tight but I was managaing to scrape by. At least I had a roof over my head, right? Wrong. My mother was moving on to husband number five and decided to sell the house without giving me notice. The bank took care of that with a thirty day grace period.

Taylor Ross walked into the coffee shop where I worked and offered me the perfect solution. His father was a regular customer and apparently thought highly enough of my service to mention me in his will. I couldn't just take money but when offered me a job with a great salary including room and board, how could I refuse? I didn't know at the time just what services Taylor thought I'd offered his father.

He wanted me to embrace my inner whore and in return my financial worries would be over. There was only one problem. I had no idea what that meant. Taylor was willing to train me, so the only real question was what was I willing to do to have everything my heart desired?

If ever a book earned the description panty-melting, it’s this one.

When Taylor Ross’ billionaire father dies and names a 20-year-old coffee shop waitress in his will, Taylor is certain his father was having yet another affair and he sets out to prove just that. When Laura won’t accept a cash handout, he offers her a job as his personal assistant. Only she quickly finds out her only responsibilities are to flirt with clients and please Taylor Ross.

Laura is the furthest thing from a whore. She is, in fact, a completely inexperienced virgin, but she finds herself drawn to Taylor despite his rude assumptions. She has to decide what she’s willing to do for the future she’s always wanted and if she can give her body to Taylor without also giving him her heart.

WHORE was steamy from the very first page and I couldn’t put it down. I loved Laura and couldn’t resist Taylor. It was everything I’d hoped for when I read the naughty and irresistable summary. I will most definitely be looking for more juicy reads by Michelle Hughes!

I was looking for great erotica and did not find it here. This was not the book for me. There were several things that didn't sit well with me, including the title (especially when read with the summary). So why did I pick this up? Sheer curiosity.

Maybe it's just me, but I don't find "womb" to be a sexy term. The terminology in this novel was far from arousing, in my opinion. I also don't think it's attractive to trust ANY person with unprotected sex unless you are in a committed relationship and/or trying to have a baby. The characters in this book could not be included in either category. Taylor was not an attractive love interest, and the heroine (whose name I have already forgotten) was a very weak and flat protag. I felt nothing towards the characters, nor the plot (besides annoyance at the too fast pace).

Also, the lack of comma usage made some passages laughable. This definitely could've done with some more editing.

I know the author states made a disclaimer saying that the themes of this novel are nothing like Fifty Shades of Grey, but really, there were several parallels. I must admit that I did not enjoy either novel.

I know my opinion is in the minority here, but Whore did not reach my expectations.

20y.o coffee-shop waitress isn't sure why her regular customer's son H is offering her a job as his personal assistant. She ends up accepting it soon as her hard life just got more complicated. She's leery about her luxurious job perks and being H's business eye candy. But she takes it on as she's finding it harder to say no to him. They have an affair with clear limits from H. But, when she finds out why he sought her out in the first place, she reached her on limit.

A fairly quick, sexy, and sometimes funny read. Liked h's self-deprecating POV & her initial inner strength. But her excuses about why she was staying at her PA job were lame and I wished she put more of a fight to maintain her integrity instead of easily succumbing to H's demands and having that be the reason why she had to put up with her humiliating job. Liked H's sexy dominant lpha-maleness but there was quite a bit about him that was a mystery to me. Wished there was a bit more bite to the character development.

Don't let the name of the book fool you because the main character Laura Burns is anything but a whore, just the opposite she is a virgin! Yes, that's correct never done the dirty deed!

The story is about a coffee shop girl Laura who is trying to work to make ends meet and get a college education. Laura's mother now on her way to her fifth husband is planning to sell their house right from under Laura's feet leaving Laura with nothing.

Enter Taylor Ross who's father was one of Laura's regulars at the coffee shop who passed away and had mentioned Laura in his will of giving money to Laura to help her with her education. Taylor comes to the coffee shop with an offer... The solution is simple Taylor wants Laura to come and be his assistant since Laura refuses the money. Only problem is that Taylor's means of assistant is for Laura to explore her "inner whore" What!....she's still a virgin for God's sake.

The book takes on twists and turns and Taylor is an Alpha male but during the book changes occur and the characters developed in different ways. I would highly recommend this book.

I received an ARC from the author in exchange for a honest review.

I was really intrigued by the idea for this story but I was not a huge fan of any of the characters. Being inside Laura's head was kind of a nightmare and I kept hoping for a perspective switch. She was really insecure but would often times say things that she couldn't back up. This led to a lot to thoughts of "did I just say that" and second guessing. There wasn't much in the way of character development, though the epilogue suggests that it does happen at some point that we don't get to witness.

The relationship progressed pretty quickly in the span of 1 to 2 weeks that this book covers. Almost unbelievably quickly. I also didn't really see what these two liked about each other besides their sexual encounters. I'm having a hard time recalling any in-depth conversations where they get to know each other.

Also, the word 'pleasure' was used way too much and it drove me crazy.

I'm always on the search for something different in the books I pick up and this one delivered on that aspect.

This story quickly drew me in and held my interest throughout. I enjoyed the first portion of the story immensely. I am drawn to and quite fond of male leads that are complete jerks and Taylor did not disappoint. Laura is everything you would expect from a virginal character. Naive. I do feel like the second half of the book felt a bit more rushed than the first portion. But my only real complaint is a personal preference so I wouldn't let it deter you from reading this book. There is a scene that involves some food play and it just doesn't do it for me. Like I said that's a personal preference. If you are in the mood for a quick steamy read then WHORE by Michelle Hughes is the book for you!

I absolutely loved this clever book! The title was brilliantly interwoven into the story, popping up again and again in different contexts. Alluring and enthralling, I was taken from the beginning! Initially, I feared it might be cliché (i.e. a virgin girl swept away by a billionaire alpha male), but to my pleasant surprise it was anything but! Instead, it evoked a range of emotions. I laughed, I cried, and at times I was thoroughly appalled. But the story flowed naturally from one scene to the next, resulting in a completely original, well written, and captivating tale. Well done!

Laura Burns is a 20-year-old coffee shop waitress in dire straits (see what I mean about cliché? But don't let the beginning fool you!). Her self-centered mother has abandoned her for husband number five, leaving Laura with a meager savings and a mortgage to pay. All Laura wants is a stable life, and the ability to go to college. But her mother's selfish behavior has repeatedly set Laura back from her goals. Laura is innocent, slightly damaged, and presents in a way that moved me. I have to say at this point how much I loved this character! I cried for her on more than one occasion, and felt my heart breaking for her needless suffering.

Laura meets Taylor Ross, who introduces himself to her as the son of a customer who has recently passed away. He states that his father wanted Laura to be taken care of, and to have her education expenses covered. Laura thanks him but refuses the offer. Instead, he offers her a job that seems too good to be true, as a way to assist her with her education costs… but his plans involve more than Laura's innocence and lack of experience can understand.

Unique and clever, with well developed characters, this book was humorous, moving, and infuriating all at the same time! The author did a fantastic job with pacing, and in the unveiling of mini reveals throughout the story. I enjoyed it immensely! A must read!

ARC Was Given To Blog For An Honest Review

I think I might have burns on my thighs from rubbing them together; this story has some really sexy explosive sex. This is a very quick read so it does not drag out at all. Surprisingly to me it did have some really well developed characters for such a short story. I am not going to get into a lot of detail about the characters since the synopsis fills you in enough.

I will say that the title is not what you think. This story is not about a prostitute. The author is trying to answer a question. Can a virgin be a whore? I think the author really did an amazing job with finding the answer here. I also believe you will enjoy reading it to find out the answer. The book has a very light BDSM quality to it. Taylor is sex on a stick and very alpha. Laura is a young lady with little experience when it comes to men, but a lot of hard life experiences. I love that she is a strong determined woman with a lot of fire.

I only had a few little issues with the book. I could see that Laura and Taylor were falling in love. Taylor does not do relationships but his actions and words tell you otherwise. The ending really shocked me and I was left a bit unsatisfied. I felt it was a bit unrealistic knowing what type of woman Laura seemed to be. It made me question the word whore in a different way than the author was asking it. When you read the book, you will understand what I mean. I cannot go into it further because that would ruin the story for you.

I really wanted to be there for the reveal when realization of love hit them. I wanted it concerning mostly Taylor. The author did put in an epilogue that I believe she thought would appease the reader. Unfortunately for me it did not have the impact the rest of the story had on me. Don’t get me wrong, I really loved the story as a whole, but after all that build up and such a great beginning and middle I was left feeling deflated with the end.

I was really impressed with Laura at the beginning of this story. She is a strong young woman, down but not out, who knows what she wants for the future and strives to achieve it with minimal complaining over the struggles she has had to endure. Although she works a dead end, low paying job in a coffee shop, she is a hardworking, dedicated employee who enjoys talking and interacting with her customers, one of which is Taylor's father. Taylor is the ultra rich, ultra controlling business man who is not a "relationship" guy but has no qualms about using Laura to achieve his own goals especially given his assumptions of her. She gets what she deserves, right? When Taylor's father dies and mentions Laura in his will, assumptions are made and plans are set into motion based on these assumptions, wrong though they might be. What follows is a quick, sometimes aggravating, definitely sensual read. I loved the premise and title and could surmise the assumptions and situations that arose because of it which added to the anticipation of the "reveal". Even though I felt more could have been done with the story, Whore was an enjoyable story that will have me looking at more of Ms. Hughes' work.

I had a lot of fun reading this story. It's thrilling, sensual and an all-around fun read. A definite must for any fans of the genre.

Laura is a young woman with a great head on her shoulders and goals she's set in life. Her mother is far from the typical mom we would see. One day Laura's approached by the son of a regular customer and friend with an offer she finds very hard to refuse...

Taylor is a handsome, successful, and brilliant alpha male that HAS to be in control for any given situation. Meeting Laura throws him for a loop. Can he release his tight reins long enough to open his heart?

This is my first time reading from this author and definitely not my last! MY only (very small) complaint is I wish there was a bit more background on the relationship between Laura and Taylor's father.

Whore by Michelle Hughes
Michelle has an awesome concept here, a virgin Whore. I love it. The book was fun to read. I enjoyed meeting Laura and Taylor and watching their relationship develop over the course of the book. I would definitely read this book again. Michelle Hughes is now going on my TBR author list.
I enjoyed meeting Laura and hearing about her life difficulties. The way she deals with the realities of the real world and doesn't just tuck her head and try to hide from them made her real. really real. I found it adorable that she took time from her day to befriend an old man that came in for coffee.
Taylor was one of those manly men that wanted everything to be his way or the highway, it was nice watching him get his comeuppance at the hands of the lil barista. The heat between these two is palpable.

Loved this story. I'm a sucker for a good virgin story, and this one met the mark. I loved Laura's independent attitude, and Taylor's rude arrogance at the beginning, and how he comes around to being a nice guy by the end. The sex between Laura and Taylor was smoking hot throughout the story, but the ending seemed a bit rushed, and it felt like Taylor gave Laura everything way too easily. Would have been a solid four stars for me, except the story could use a little more editing.

Not one of my favorites ... felt rushed in a few places and the way he treated her was appalling ... I would have loved if the heroine had a backbone initially ... just falling for someone based on looks when she was treated in an appalling fashion did not go down well with me!

Uhhh...k. Both of these characters had interesting back stories that are totally brushed over for a million trips into the bathroom. Hero was just a Christian Grey rip off 'not a hearts and flowers'....might wanna be a bit more inventive next book. I liked that she was working for him so that she could get to know him...nope just alot of shopping and traveling. It could have been better but the author seemed more interested in how many sex scenes could be stuffed in before the end. The 'twist' was enough and it didn't even effect the heroine at all. She stuck with him, 'whatever'...alright. Skip.

After reading this book I have to ask one question. Why do most of these "Fifty Shades Of Grey" type books feature a rich (usually millionaire/billionaire) man and a struggling female (usually a student or someone in an entry level job)? Pretty sure this isn't the case in the real world. Not everyone is filthy rich or dirt poor. Why can't some of these books reflect some every day normal people. Probably no one would read them. I guess I answered my own question. This book was ok but not spectacular.

Okay, so I have very mixed feelings about this one.

The Good:
-Sex Scenes are great. (Minus a particularly gross and unappealing part that involves breakfast food. Sorry, that is just not my cup of tea)
-The female character is great for the majority of the book.
-Interesting story concept.

The bad:
-The "hero" is a major league a-hole. All the washboard abs and nice eyes in the world don't make someone an appealing character. He's basically a Christian Grey knock-off, except I actually think Christian Grey had more depth to him. This guy is a jerk throughout the whole story, then all of a sudden "I'm redeemed because of this one person! It's a miracle!"

-The whole plot is very rushed. There is little to no conflict. The female character, so strong and determined earlier in the story, eventually becomes a doormat and a total disappointment. I actually finished reading and said, "Wait, that's it? Where's the rest of the story?" My guess is the author had a tight deadline and had to finish writing really quickly. A LOT seems to be missing here.

-Other than both characters being attractive, I don't buy them for a second as two people who are even a potential couple. They have nothing in common. While reading this I'm like, "Okay, so why would she be falling for him again?" I just don't get it. The guy had no depth to him whatsoever.

Not the best book I've ever read by any means. Probably wouldn't want to read anything else by her.

*ARC provided by the author in exchange for my honest review

The blurb for this book had me reminded of the Harlequin and Mills and Boon of old with the innocent virgin corrupted by the rich powerful man vibe, but this is a modernised version of that plotline. It is of a similar route of the FSOG, so I knew I was in for a good escapism with a sexy billionaire and his young attraction with plenty of raunchy sexiness thrown in. I was not disappointed!

Laura is working hard at a local coffee shop to earn money to get her to college. She has recently been given an eviction notice of 30 days to vacate her home by her not so caring mother who is currently on her way with her fifth trip down the aisle. So to say she is grasping at straws to get out of this predicament is saying something. Then in walks the tall and sexy hunk who wants a private word. Things are looking up.

Taylor is the son of Lenny Ross who was an old customer Laura has not seen in the coffee shop in a while. He was a true friend offer her advice in the only way a true old gent can. She is saddened to hear from Taylor that Lenny has passed away but surprised and shocked he has also left instructions for her to be taken care of in order for her to fulfil her dreams.

Taylor is the high flying rich billionaire who is none so happy to be carrying out this request for his deceased father, especially to one of his young flings he is faced with. How could his father do this to his mother with one so young? He is surprised when she does not take up the offer of money but she is happy to accept a job in order to earn her way. The offer is more than 3 times what she earns at the coffee shop so this would help her to get to her dreams of study much quicker. Little does she realise what is in store for her as the private assistant of Taylor Ross.

I was initially confused why a high flying executive would offer the job as his PA to one so young and inexperienced, but then it became clear just what she would be helping him with. At first I was huffing and sighing at the absurdity of the proposal but then I just became hooked on Taylor Ross. It became apparent he was surmising his father’s relationship with Laura totally wrong and making all kinds of assumptions about her until it becomes too late for him.

I liked that Laura wasn’t a total innocent and that she fought her battles wisely for one so young. She clicked onto what Taylor was about and still went ahead (sometime unintentionally!) with his outrageous requests.

The erotic scenes were steamy and had me hanging onto the kindle button, flicking through them at a fast pace. Some also had me screwing my eyes up thinking ‘Oh no she did not just admit to that, how embarrassing’ but then those were parts that illustrated some of the immaturity of the character.

However I did enjoy this read and it give me a quick fix for a little erotica with a decent, if not original, storyline. The characters were likable, the relationship build up engaging and with a little bit of angst thrown in, this book delivered exactly what it endorsed. A hot erotic read.

Whore is a new adult contemporary about about Laura Burns, a twenty-year-old who is in debt and without a house because of her mother who ran away with her newest lover.

The story begins with Laura working at the coffee shop when Taylor Ross appear before her. Taylor tells her that he is the son of Leonard Ross and his father has unfortunately passed away. Taylor informs her that her name appeared in his father's will and offers her a job to help with her current situation. She was hesitant but accept the offer as was in need of money. What she doesn't know was that her job required her to seduce his clients.

I finished this book in less than 5 hours. It was a really quick read for me. I really liked the flow of the story. The story started right away and I was sucked into it. I really liked how fast paced it was.

As for the characters, I quite like Laura. I think she's a really innocent lady with some spunk. I love her energy and attitude. Nothing is better than a woman who is not afraid to speak her mind. Taylor is a little more mysterious to me. We don't really get to know much other than what he shows or tells Laura.

Okay. The big problem that I had with the book was the ending. I think it went a little too fast and it seemed rushed. I wished the characters had more time to actually think and consider the situation. I thought Laura and Taylor could have done a better job in handling the situation. Because of how fast it went, the story ended kind of abruptly and it made the book feel a little unrealistic to me. And so, it's hard for me to see them as an actual couple. The epilogue did not change how I felt about them. I would have liked to see more interaction between the two, and I don't mean physically. Other than that, I don't think I have a problem.

Overall, I still enjoyed reading it. It was a fun, easy and quick read. It went by really fast. It took me one sitting to finish it. There were problems but it doesn't change the fact that I still liked the book.

'Whore' was a pretty interesting story by Michelle Hughes. I had quite a strong Love/Hate relationship with Taylor for quite a long time there. He was completely and utterly arrogant, demanding, and so unbelievably hot and cold it drove me to the point of madness at times. Yet, he could be so sweet and caring that it gave me the butterflies in my tummy. But then he would resort right back to cold and obnoxious, and I wished I could punch him right in his pretty little face… yet somehow he was still sexy as all hell! He was so damn infuriating and I loved every minute of him. Well, except the sausage part… that was a bit ummmm gross (you will have to read it to know what I am talking about). That one scene in the book really weirded me out, and I almost put the book down thinking it was going to be going off in that direction, and it was so not my thing. Boy am I glad that I kept reading though! That was the ONLY scene like it, and the rest of the story did not disappoint with the emotions running high, and the sex steamy and plenty!

Laura was a pretty great character. She had been dealt a somewhat rough hand in life, and was struggling to make a future for herself. Not wanting to follow in the footsteps of her mother, she took a much different approach to men than her mom had. Working for shit pay at the coffee shop and trying to put together enough money so that she could go to school, things seemed almost impossible. Enter Taylor who offered her an answer to all her problems. She just had to allow herself to become something she wasn't. She had to "embrace her inner whore". Would the money be worth the loss of dignity she had?

At one point I did feel like it was a quite similar story to 50 shades of Grey, and was feeling like I was going to be disappointed in the overall outcome of the book. But then the tables turned once again, and it ended up being completely different than where I thought it was going. I must say, I was pretty impressed overall and will certainly be reading more by Michelle in the future.

I Received An ARC Of This Book In Exchange For My Honest Review!

Laura works at a coffee shop while trying to save enough money to be able to go to college. She lives with her mom, well until her mom runs off with her newest and gets married and does something that causes more problems for Laura. Her mom will definitely get a mother of the year award but not to worry I had a haha moment later in the book where she's concerned.

Everything changes for Laura when she meets Taylor. He's the son of Lenny, a regular customer at the coffee shop and someone Laura considered a friend. He's come looking for Laura with an offer that she's finding hard to refuse right now with everything that's happened.

Taylor is rich, handsome, and a typical Alpha male. He needs and loves to be in control of all situations. Before he met Laura he already formed an opinion of her. His father put her in his will which tells him everything he needs to know about her. Why else would he put her in his will?

I truly enjoyed reading this book. Taylor definitely knows how to bring out a girls inner whore. I laughed and cried at times while reading this book. Other times I was so angry and frustrated that I loved it. I wish there was more background into Laura and Lenny's relationship then we got. Maybe a chapter with them interacting before he died or something. A interesting read that I will recommend to fellow readers and book lovers.

I’m still not sure what I think of this book. Laura seems like a smart girl with goals and dreams. Until she meets Taylor Ross. She then agrees to uproot her entire life with out knowing what exactly he is offering or why. Who does this?

Cue makeover montage.

Being in Laura’s POV was difficult- she was mature beyond her years, yet the naive virgin. She is constantly second guessing herself- yet agrees to a sexual game of light BDSM/alpha male game with Taylor. And she’s a virgin. This was a fact that I had to keep reminding myself of.

Taylor comes across as the Big Bad Wolf. Or just a big bad ass. But he has his moments- they just are all over the place. He’s protective, he’s distant, he wants her, he doesn’t.

I also kept asking myself if she settled. There is no doubt an out of control passion between them. But is this enough to build something on? Does he need to make her his “whore” supersede all common sense?

Yet the steam and sex in this book- whew! Oh the blushing!

I couldn’t quite decide if this book were a romance or erotica or what? It was engaging. I ended up liking Taylor. There just seemed to be holes in the plot and bits of the story were too far fetched.
