This devotional booklet offers forty days of brief devotions from Max Lucado. Each day features a scripture verse and an excerpt from Lucado's various publications. This devotional seems geared toward the seeker or new Christian.
As always Max Lucado's words are on form. This is a lovely wee devotional book full of inspiring words and goes deeper into the happenings of Jesus last days on earth.
Max does such an awesome job of putting words to page in a way that is straight to the point on the many ways our Lord is there for us in whatever situation we find ourselves.
There's a reason Max Lucado's one of my favourite gospel teachers. He always brings things back to Jesus, and I loved this collection of remembrances that God didn't just love the world in general, He loved you and me in specific! 4.5 stars
Max Lucado is one of my favorite authors, so I am not surprised that I enjoyed this devotional as much as I did. It uses excerpts from some of his books paired with relevant scripture. Recommend.
I had a 40-days journey with Lucado’s encouragement.
~ “God is whispering to you. Those are His arms you feel. Trust Him. That is His voice you hear. Believe Him.” ~ “God speaks in our world. We just have to learn to listen for Him amidst the ordinary.” ~ “That’s your sin I’m feeling. That’s your death I’m dying. That’s your resurrection I’m living. That’s how much I love you.” ~ “Your goodness can’t win God’s love. Nor can your badness lose it. But you can resist it. DON’T. For heaven’s sake, DON’T.” ~ “The stone was moved – not for Jesus- but for the women; not so Jesus could come out, but so the women could see in!”
“When times get hard, remember Jesus. When tears come, remember Jesus. When fear pitches his tent in your front yard. When death looms, when anger singes, when shame weighs heavily. Remember Jesus. Can you still remember? Are you still in love with Him? Remember, Paul begged, remember Jesus. Before you remember anything , remember Him. If you forget anything, don’t forget Him. ”
I looked forward to reading a new chapter every night before bed. They were so moving and inspiring. Each one gave a new theme to unwind to before bed. The only thing I would change is to make the book longer. Another easy to read yet powerful book from Mad Lucado
