This book has a lot of great insights into dog training and establishing oneself as a pack leader. However, the only reason why I rated it four stars instead of five is because I personally wouldn't recommend withholding food from an animal. I'm not saying this method doesn't work but, I do feel this method could lead to other unwanted behavioral problems such as, being food aggressive. With patience and time while feeding, your dog will grasp what you want from him/her. I want to say that the author is very accurate in describing how critical it is to establish yourself as a pack leader and feeding time is the perfect time to do that. Great read all together and very helpful tips!

Great information on giving you and your dog's relationship the best chance of success. Hits on the most important points in a clear and concise manner without the lengthy descriptions that you lose interest in and forget quickly. I look forward to starting this training with my two adult rescues.
