I am the writer of The Lone March Series. I have been writing since before I could read (lots of cursive lower-case e's when I transferred my daydreams to paper). Telling stories isn't just a passion for me--it's a byproduct of living. I am also a singer/musician. Some of my songs can be found, tucked in the corners of the internet, if you know where to look.
Even better then the 1st! The characters draw you in and are completely relatable. The plot and the pace webbed me into the story, with unpredictable twist and turns. I found the writing style to be better then the 1st book. I am happy to say I can not wait for the 2nd book.
It's getting real good. But still confusing but I know if I read on all will known! The first books a iffy. But the second one is getting somewhere but I'm upset she broke up with Ethyn!
(2.5 stars)After reading book 1 in the Lone March Series, my immediate reaction was that the writing was awkward but the story line was pretty good. Now, after readinig "Moon-Ache" my opinion of the writing has not improved and the story line has become rather convoluted adding layers upon layer of characters without necessarily improving the plot.
After embracing her werewolf side for the first time, March discovers she has been lied to by the pack who has sworn to teach her about her new nature. Twenty people are dead from werewolf attacks from her pack and her parents have been killed as well. In addition, Elliot has staged a coup, taking over the pack and holding her and Quinn hostage without the benefit of food or water for three days. One of the pack members, Graham manages to help her and escape although he is varely standing. Soon she discovers that in additiona to his help Mr. Harper has come to assist her as well. He manages to take her and the few loyal pack members to his cabin in the woods.
Before they can formulate a plan the police show up because they received a report that a naked girl was seen roaming around and was pick up by someone in a car registered to Mr. Harper. Marck quickly changes into a wolf to get them off of her track. Theyn she turns herslef into the police explaining that she was kidnapped. She is placed in foster care with the strange and overly religious zealots foster parents. She attends her parents funeral and then the foster parents begin their strange indoctrination. When she refuses to comply they durg her and lock her in the bathroom. She manages to excape and sets out the go back to the pack. Unfortunately, she discovers that her pack has been taken over in a coup ay other packs.
In addition to all of this madness, a new kid at school, Jasper makes several lude advancements towards her. She is taken off guard and tries to stay away from him. The foster parents get wierder and wierder so, March goes on the run.
This read really disturbed me on a couple of levels. First, March is only fifteen and I was disturb by how many times March stood naked among old grown men. It was somewhat unsettling and creepy. Additionally, it was disturbing to see her throw herself seductively against boy after boy. What is up with all of these incidental characters anyway? And, lastly why do these books always seem to end so abruptly?
As I stated before, when I bought this series, I bought the first three books. So, I will go on to read the three book I bought. However, I am very sure taht I will not be going on with the series if there are more books after this unless by some miracle the next book is truly fabulous.
This series is kind of strange, but in a good sort of way. I'm really torn about it. I really like the world and the idea behind the plot, but all the back and forth is irritating.. I mean she gets caught, she escapes or gets rescued, gets caught again, and escapes again.. Granted given the circumstances of what she is, I can understand that. I'm not sure what the 2 week trip with Elliot was supposed to accomplish. Nothing got done, and we didn't end up with any progress on Elliot's part either. It started looking like there might be, but nope.. He's a scum bag. But he's also a wolf and it's in a wolfs nature to 'claim' the female, right? March and her boy drama is actually a plus for me in this case. March is a female were-WOLF.. (a female dog). Right when her hormones start changing she snags the boyfriend she's always wanted, for all of 5 minutes. Then she meets another boy that's part of her new life/world. But what to do with the other boy.? (She's a wolf now, trying to separate wolf instinct and teenage girl propriety). Well, she gets a clue and decides humans aren't a good idea. Good choice. He's a great guy, but there are lots of great guys out there. Then there's Jasper and the kid they've got in lock up. The girls only 16 and should be in NO rush to do the nasty, but her wolf side is saying she's a grown female ready for mating. AND there's a bunch of other men wanting to mate with her.. Again, what to do? Hormones on the fritz she just goes with it and tries her best. Are peoples feelings going to get hurt? yes, most likely.. but in this situation it's going to happen regardless. In any other book I'd probably complain that she's annoying and turning slutty. But I don't feel that way here. The 'crush' she has on a grown man? Though kind of creepy, totally normal for a 16 year old girl. It's usually your friends dad the girl crushes on instead of the boyfriend/ex-boyfriend's dad.. but hey.. And this guy doesn't seem to be able to set very strong boundaries when it comes to March either though.. THAT is the part that's kind of creepy. He's the adult, he knows better. And he should have better control of himself and not allow some of the kinds of situations to happen that he finds himself in with March. I'm going out on a limb and guessing that it's her bio dad that left her the letter/warning.
Well, all in all, I find the story interesting enough.
MOON-ACHE is the second storyline in Erin Irvin’s Lone March series. It has only been a few days since March’s first change and already the ‘were ‘world is very much aware of her existence. When her new pack ran into some internal troubles, March would find herself back with the Harper’s. Running from the pack only made sense when the new self-proclaimed alpha was determined to make March his mate. But life wasn’t about to get any easier, when she discovers that the only family she has known is gone and social services has placed her with a religious zealot who doesn’t stop at anything to keep March in line. Once again, escape is her only option and this time she will find herself back with the Harper’s. When Avery Harper reveals to what extent her new pack has had to endure because of her existence, March decides that to take matters into her own hands.
Meanwhile March’s personal life runs into a little trouble. The requisite YA love triangle has emerged. We all saw it coming. As the only female of her species, she is wanted and hunted by all of the clans, and life as a breeder is not on her agenda. But when a young were from her pack begins to have feelings for March, territorial instincts will kick in and March’s high school boyfriend will become the victim of a jealous rage. Knowing her presence in his life could possibly lead to further problems and attack, it is March’s decision to let go and move on with her new life.
MOON-ACHE reveals the existence of a few more ‘were’ species and further develops upon the animosity between the groups. There is still no revelation about what has happened to create such hatred between the supernatural powers but we are closer to discovering why this has occurred. And the were-ravens-all I can say is Victorian England probably never looked so stuffy—“quoth the raven-Nevermore.”
Good installment in the series. I like how the author showed the difficulties for someone who thought she was human to find out that she is actually a werewolf. Too many books seem to gloss over the adjustment not to mention the difficulties of the two different types pf lives. SO many books make the transition seem to easy or they make the character totally hate themselves because now he or she is a "monster."I like how March has been able to accept herself and her maturity as a fifteen year old dealing with situations that she shouldn't. I am still completely surprised by the ending. I definitely did not see it coming.
What the hell is going on? I am going crazy with this series. I love March and Ethyan together. What is going on with Avery? Shit he is way to old but damn she keeps having thoughts. Sorry but Greyson is a jealous ass. OMG I can not think straight I need more of March's story. How can she fight against her whole world. Losing her parents and then the foster freaks. Why did she end it with sweet Ethyan. UUUGGGGGHHHHH I am so frustrated.
This book was fantastic! It kept me on a wonderful roller coaster ride! I laughed and cried with the main character. This is truly the best were series I have ever read and I am eagerly awaiting the next book! Great job!
Though i did enjoy this book. I just didnt get as into it as the first two. I guess it was just very... relationship surrounded. Still an awesome book!!!
Well written and gripping. You really start to form attachment to the characters. Warning there is a cliffhanger. Highly recommend reading though regardless.
