The Air Singer
Tally Chambers is content with her quiet, undemanding life. She works as a tarot reader during the day and plays open mics at night. Her simple utopia is shattered when the attractive Roland Stokes sits at her table. She is elated at his sudden interest in her, but soon discovers his true motivation.

Wow! A great debut by K. Huber. I really enjoyed the story, it held my interest and kept me turning the pages. Great characters and a perfect balance of action, romance and humor. I can't wait to read the rest of The Cantor series.

Had to quit reading. Heroine's stupid choices and actions were irritating. Heroes were condescending while training heroine. Background info and plot info provided to readers via dialogue that felt stiff and formal and unnatural. Characters were flat, uninteresting and underdeveloped.

Short, but a good start
I love the idea that we have access to the elements. This has adventure, love and friendship as the overall themes. Might even look into the next one to see the powers develop.

Writing was good but the pacing is soooo slow. Boringly slow.
Read about half and skipped to the end.

I was lucky enough to get this when it was available as a free download and it's just sat on my Kindle waiting for me and today was it's day to get read!
First off I realised from the fact there is a sub-title (The Cantors) that it must be a part of a series and, after checking that there were no others published, came to the conclusion that it must be the first book - and I was right. What the blurb doesn't tell you is that when this book finishes it's kind of left hanging and the next isn't due to be published until much later this year (2014) - to be honest if I had realised that I probably would have filed it away to read once book 2 was available OR not downloaded it to start with.
Anyway the book. It wasn't what I was expecting if I'm honest but that's not necessarily a bad thing. It is an intriguing story focusing around Tally, a young woman who has always known she is psychic and works as a Tarot card reader. Now she has now been selected by the Air elemental force to be the next Air Singer - the one person able to control the wind/atmosphere to either protect or destruct. She suddenly becomes the focus of attention for 2 diametrically opposed groups: one seeking to protect her, the other seeking to destroy her.
There is some romance in the story and a very short bedroom scene but there is also a fair amount of violence.
All in all I loved it - just wish I had known in advance that it hadn't been intended as a stand alone.

Tally Chambers is a normal young lady, or so it seems. She has the power to feel what others are feeling. One day the wind kicks up a dust storm and Tally is caught in the middle when something happens. It is like she is standing in the eye of the storm, it is clear and calm. Later that day she realizes that something happened to her and her powers are stronger. While at Open Mic Night out with her BFF Kate, Tally is on stage singing and the air shifts and when she looks around, a handsome man has walked into the bar. She is drawn to him. Turns out that the handsome man is Roland and he is there to protect her but Tally is not sure if she can trust him. When things begin to happen, people want her dead, Tally has to learn what secrets Roland is keeping and it will change her life. Can she adjust to the changes set before her? Can Roland protect her from those that want her dead? Will Tally and Roland give in to the feelings they have for each other? This is a first for me by K. Huber and I loved it. Can't wait for The Fire Starter (book 2) coming out in the fall of 2014.

A paranormal/fantasy worth reading
I enjoyed reading Book 1 of the "The Air Singer" series. The characters are well developed and interesting.
The storyline based on people with elemental powers and the 2 groups that came into power because of them, one to protect and the other to destroy made for an interesting read.
I highly recommend adding this title to your TBR list if you are a fan of the paranormal/fantasy genre.

Sometimes less is more
I liked this story, I really did. The basic premise was good, I was very interested in the conflict b/w the Cadence and the Spina and wanted that aspect to be developed more. Tally was engaging until the Romance took center stage, and then she got too weak and needy. I don't mind some romance, but too much weakened the story.

It took me a while to get in to The Air Singer. I finally did towards the end, but it still wasn't anything spectacular. I am somewhat interested to know more about the different singers and what will happen with Tally & Roland, so I may pick up the next book... at least, I will if it is cheap.

An interesting start, but I really don't know if I would actively search out the rest in this series. Having said that, paranormal/supernatural is not my favourite genre to read. Worth a try maybe?

Went by really fast
I liked the whole idea of a world filled with people that have elemental powers. I wish the fire singer could be more involved he sounds interesting.

Enjoyable.
I enjoyed this book. The story line pulls you in. Enjoyable. It makes you think about the possibilities of what if this was a true story.......good read.

I thought it was really good...can't wait to see what happens next...what the future holds for Tally & Roland....

It started a little choppy, and the dialogue didn't really flow (or feel realistic) at first, but it ended on a pretty solid 3 star.
