Rate this book
America's nanny offers a large dose of healthy parenting advice with secrets for raising happy, secure, and well-balanced babies and toddlers.
Babies don't come with instructions. And since today's parents are so overwhelmed with schedules and demands, they have little time to bone up on their parenting skills. Often removed from grandparents and relatives who in times past lived next door or just down the street, they have no one to guide them through the disorienting world of raising children. Enter Nanny to the Rescue! Michelle LaRowe, 2004 International Nanny Association "Nanny of the Year," gives her tried and true solutions to childcare. Her expertise with chapters titled "Who's the boss?" and "Discipline is not a four letter word" gives confidence to parents who need specific ideas for real day-to-day problems. A proud member of Christian Nannies, Michelle offers foundational truths sure to help encourge moms and dads.

I think this book is a wonderful tool for individuals just starting to work with children or need tips for parenting their 1st child. I didn't gain a lot of new revelation in regards to working with kids because all this book taught me I already knew by working in a day care center and just picking up on things. I did love the 123 Magic tip which I started using on a few of my little ones who have problems following instructions. This book did give me the confidence and encouragement in letting me know I knew more than I thought I did. Also this book is an easy read and I liked the unique laying out of a scene almost in a play, then she goes into details about that scene/topic and gives you tips and information, revisits the scene with the changes/ the right way and then does a recap of what was implemented. Again I think this is a great book for those individuals starting to work at a day care or parenting. Also the age range I kind of felt this was for was for preschoolers with a small section about how to get babies to nap. I also liked the fact she is a Christian and uses some Bible scriptures. I did disagree with her none spanking of a child however. Other than that a good read to pick up on a day you want to relax with coffee or tea and don't want to strain your brain with heavier reading.
