DEVIL ASH BOOK 1: DEVIL ASH DAYS After a wild night of demons invading his home, teenage slacker Ash Kaplan finds himself taken to Hell by a devil named Goddard. The devils of Hell live in fear of constant demon attacks, and Ash is recruited to help fight. The boy is teamed up with Shiva, the feisty daughter of Satan, and Aura, a pervy man with a dangerous curse. The team's first mission is to track down King Satan's stolen pendant, which might just be Ash's ticket back to Earth as well. This is the story of one boy's struggle to find his place in Hell. Fans of anime, video games, and comic books will definitely find something to love here.

A different outlook on a coming of age story for a young man with what can be considered Good versus Evil! This book will grab you as you get to learn the main characters in this book. After i finished it, i was looking for book 2. I am sad to say that it is not out yet...

This is a pretty good book. Aura is prolly my favorite character. Cant wait for the second one i really look forward to seeing where this book goes. it has a nice base and Hell is pretty well defined. the back story of it shows promise between the fall of lucifer and his allies or banishing of the devils. Its a pretty nice book to read on your spare time.

This book's originality makes it difficult to describe but no less of a great read.

What I liked

- A refreshingly original take on Angels, Devils, and Demons.
- Extremely strong central cast
- Plenty of humor and fun
- At 99 cents it's a huge bargain.

What I didn't like

- Protagonist comes across younger than his age.

The closest I can come for a parallel to Devil Ash Days is the H.I.V.E(High Institute of Villainous Education) series crossed with the video game Disgaea series. This is a book about an 18 year old slacker named Ash Kaplan, who falls victim to a certain Devil's scheme and ends up turned into a half-human half-devil and brought to hell. Which as it turns out nothing like he imagined. Looking more like a place out of Fairy Tales than it does the classic volcanic landscape.

Once there he has to adapt to his new surroundings, figure out his new half-devil powers, and find a way home. Only he doesn't have any idea how to do any of it. And finding out those things won't be easy.

Through the course of things he meets a violent and temperamental princess who is desperate to prove herself named Shiva Satan and a lazy flirt who can kill anything with a touch named Aura Draxler. Who could be just the sort of friends he needs, if they don't get him killed that is. Both have just the right mix of vivid personality and strong foundation that makes for a strong trio of central characters.

The only criticisms I have for it is that outside of those three there isn't a whole lot of character depth to be enjoyed and Ash comes across as younger than his supposed 18 years. It's Fairy Tale hell world is also very much geared toward a YA audience; which is not necessarily a bad thing, it's just something to be aware of.

---------------

I recommend Devil Ash Days to anyone looking for a fun read that takes the Angel/Devil thing a truly different direction.

I'm glad I only spent 99 cents on this because it was very boring. The real kicker is the story had potential. I really liked the idea of a story about a devil, but the follow through just wasn't there. The whole story was just so bland. Poorly thought out and nothing noteworthy. They just wander around town having adventures, sorta, if you want to call them that. I bought the sequel at the same time, but I won't be reading it. :(
