I have been an avid reader for longer than I can remember, desiring the darker, edgier works of Bram Stoker, Stephen King, Dean Koontz. I first started writing in High School giving that away when my first attempt was nothing more than dribble. I wish now that I kept at it, pursued it with a hunger that I currently possess.

Writing is my passion, it is what fuels the fires inside of me and it is an all-or-nothing furnace that keeps me up at all hours.

I am married to a wonderful supportive husband, I have 2 wonderful kids and the best friends that I have waited some 35 odd years to meet.

Hells Angel is a gritty paranormal story which flips the notion of Earth and Hell and makes you look at it in a new light. Earth may be your idea of Heaven, but it’s not everyone else’s, too.
Kim Faulks forces us to see Earth from the point of view of a demon from Hell. To Kellah Slater, Earth is Hell and Hell is home – sweet, missed and adored. I have to say, I’ve never thought of looking at Earth from that direction, my mind clouded by angels and rose tints, but I relished, I craved more of this book, the more I read. Now, I know I will be going back to search for more of Kim Faulks’ published works – there’s plenty to choose from.
It seems some of this upside-down view of life has stuck. I even started my review backwards. Sorry about that.
I found the plot brilliantly developed, dark but realistic. Everything Kellah does, she does so she could return back to Hell, where she belongs. As a demon on Earth, you’d think she’d have it easy. Not so. She struggles to survive and fit in with the other inhabitants of this living jail she’s been confined to and, to top it all, a human detective is on her case. Like a shadow, Darrion Hunter is unshakeable.
The characterization is flawless. Both main characters are well developed, with their own voices, motivations and back stories. Secondary characters enter and leave and reappear – and they, too, are perfectly formed. The author makes you see their point of view, consider life from their perspective, all without judgments or prejudice.
There are no fancy words in Kim Faulks’ descriptions, but they are powerful and highly visual nonetheless. You walk the dark streets alongside Kellah, sleep on her grubby mattress and stand up to the scourge of society beside her.
The end comes as a surprise – though there are twists and surprises pretty much in each chapter – and the way Kellah discovers she’s changing is heart-warming, as is her feeble attempt to stay true to the person she thinks she is. The struggle between what she needs and what she wants makes her do the only thing she could safely do: run. And as I reached the end of the book, I could only sit there and stare at the last page, cheering Darrion Hunter on and agreeing with his thoughts – this time she was not getting away.
I recommend this book, not just to fans of supernatural stories, but to anyone who doesn’t mind opening their minds to a different point of view and who is keen to understand others, no matter who or what they may be. Brilliant read. There is nothing I didn’t like in this book. It gets five stars from me, and if there were more, then I would happily award those, too.

When I think Kim Faulks, I think of dark, gritty writing of the paranormal, and Hells Angel did not disappoint. I was quickly drawn in by an intricate plot, dark scenes lit with flickering fluro signs and strong characters eager for their own salvation.
Kellah, a demon, is a badass chick, eager to get back to Hell, to her home. Detective Hunter has lost almost everything and is determined to make what seems to be a last stand by taking down Kellah for the criminal scum she is, without realising just how dangerous his fixation is. The heat of hate between these two is thick, and intoxicating. Other minor characters still stay with me, long after they’re gone because even they play their own part in shaping the story.
The darkness in Hunter’s past that ruined a fine detective are is slowly revealed and explicit, highly emotional and devastating. Every step along the sorry tale unravelled the story with a surprising event and jaw-dropping bombshell. Ms Faulks knows just how to keep her audience hooked and every book she writes, she expands on that skill. I thrilled in the first three books of her Fire and Ice series but Hells Angel takes the cake. This is her best so far, and I, for one, will be awaiting, eagerly, for all coming books from this fantastic author! Never put that pen down, Kim, all your hard work is clear and the finished product is wonderful!

I rated this ebook 4 stars instead of 5 mainly because of formatting issues. There were several places with six or seven blank pages that had to be scrolled through, and minor typos that with a good editor could be avoided. (For example, taking the lords name in vein should be in vain).

The story itself though was phenomenal. It was gritty and dark without being overwhelmingly so. You find yourself drawn into the story quickly and rooting for Kellah and Hunter both, despite their being at cross purposes for most of the novel. I finished the book in a single night as it was compelling enough that I could not put it down until I found out what happened next. All in all, a fantastic first offering in this series. I will be awaiting the second installment, albeit not patiently.

What a thoroughly fun read! I know we all like our MCs to be ass kicking she devils but in this book, she actually IS ... well an ass-kicking demon anyway! She rips bad guys in half and dreams of chewing off people's faces and I loved her to bits. Lots of angst and bad guys getting torn up all make for a fun read. I seriously could not put it down (as my eyes are hanging out of my head from weariness can attest to!) and I stayed up late last night to finish it all off in one day. So glad to have found this author through a freebie from Amazon and I will certainly keep an eye out for the other books in this series :)

We are all familiar with the saying “Never judge a book by its cover”, well the it was the cover of this book that drew me in. It just screamed “Come read me” and I was not disappointed in the slightest. "Hells Angel" by Kim Faulks is a dark, twisted and gritty read and would fit the bill for any horror or dark paranormal fan.
The author’s dark and graphic writing grabs you from the very first page as you are introduced to Kellah who is a perfect blend of twisted evil, hate, anger and humanity. A very interesting combination in my opinion. Kellah is a demon and is cast from hell to wander earth. She has learned to adapt, blend in and manipulate the world around her to gain what is needed to return home. She is complex as she is a demon trapped in a human body and with the human body comes human emotions which she has to learn how to control. Her fate is intertwined with Darrion Hunter a police officer who has lost everything and is on the brink of losing his grip on reality. It is these two main characters that move the story along in two parallel stories that crescendo in a most explosive way at the end.

I feel the author did a fantastic job of slowly laying the ground work of these Kellah and Darrion, for as I read I felt the tension in the story build almost to the point of frustration as I was waiting to see how their two lives intersected. I felt like a spectator on for a scary ride and I couldn’t get off or rather didn’t want to get off. Kim’s descriptive writing really brought the story to life and which engaged my imagination to play out the scenes of the story in a very visual way.

The characters were slowly introduced and as I mentioned before left me a bit frustrated, but that was down to my own eagerness of wanting to know what drove the characters. The author did not disappoint, as I read the characters fleshed out before my eyes in their own time. The supporting characters were believable and had depth that really added to the feeling of the book.
This is the first book in the “No Angel Series” and the foundations have been laid for what I feel will be a very good Series of books. With the creation of the character of Kellah there are so many possibilities for storylines. The book was well written and easy to read and a fairly short read with only 187 pages. The only issue I had was my copy was in the PDF Format and is hard to read on the kindle. I am sure with the ebook on Amazon the formatting will be much better.

I for one am looking forward to reading the next book in the series. I would like to note that this book is for adults due to its graphic content and violence. So if you are looking for a easy to read horror book then Hells Angel is for you! With that said I give this book 5 Stars.

I really enjoyed this book! It was beautifully dark and had a nice urban twist to it. Kellah Slater was my kinda demon, ruthless and devious in her nature. She was kicked out of hell by her father Satan and bounded on earth with humans, who were for the most part oblivious of her kind.
Poor Detective Hunter is a man that has been scarred. He lost his family at the hands of a malicious demon who has a thirst for death and human despair.
After suffering his family’s sudden departure from this world, he became hell bent on catching the criminal, Kellah Slater. What he failed to realize was, he was spiritually connected to her.
I’m going to leave it at that, because I don’t want to give too much way. :) If you’re curious to know, you’ll just have to pick up your copy and read it for yourself. *grin*
There were a couple parts where I felt the author could have given us more depth to really draw us into the scene, but that didn’t hinder the read for me. It was refreshing to see an author push the boundaries. She gave me a dark, gritty tale that kept me flipping the pages. And now I’m left wanting more.
Brava, Mrs. Faulks!

Kim Faulks has a fantastic, unique way of building a fast moving paranormal/romance/thriller story that you simply cannot put down.

From the moment you begin the book, you instantly fall in-love with the main character Kellah, and form a hatred for the world she is forced to stay in. The strong hatred Kim has built between Hunter and Kellah is formed around a complete misunderstanding that drives the reader deeper into the characters emotions and personal journeys.

This book is truly not like any paranormal story you have read before. Somehow the author has found a unique way to transform a popular genre into something of her own, and does it with class.

I give this book 5 stars for the strong characters, the history of the characters and the world they came from and currently reside in.

Looking forward to book #2

Kim Faulks sure does have a way with the dark and depraved!! Well done! This book is told fron the unique perspective of a demon named Kellah. The author gives us a crazy dark ride through Kellah's punishment that puts her living with the very beings she despises. The characters are very well formed and she puts you right into the center of Kellah's world, vividly detailing her discust for humankind and for Detective Hunter.I won't give away too much, since I myself HATE spoilers on reviews. BUT, I will tell you that if you love the paranormal and demons like I do, this is the book for you! I love the action and the grit of this series and I will be looking to read the next volume as soon as it's available! Hats off to this author! Kim Faulks, Thanks for the terrific read!!

Emergence - An Erotic Paranormal Thriller (The Fire and Ice Series)
Kim Faulks

I was supplied with this copy by author but as always on the basis that my opinion is honestly held and not influenced by whether the book was free or paid for. Integrity of reviewers is important to me, and false reviews do no favours to authors or readers.
The fourth episode in the series, I'd loved the first two but disappointed in the third so was wondering what would happen to Natalie next. She's been made into a vampire but Kaige, who tortured her horrifically in the last episode. Natalie underwent so much that her mind has been affected and she's more animal rather than human, acting purely on instinct to protect herself. Malik and Alexander are back (hurrah ) hoping to find her and help her but she's stronger than both of them now through the events that have transpired and they lose her. On her wanderings from nowhere to nowhere – she doesn't really know where she's going or what to do, just having occasional lucid moments when her human side recalls what she's lost, who she is and that she's a danger and needs to stay away from people, she comes across Grayson. We met him in the first novel from her life before she became entangled in the supernatural world. Grayson wants to help her and her memories of him are good, but he's just human and doesn't know what’s been happening to her. Kaige returns, and Natalie is facing capture again.
Its another action packed book, with Natalie going from one crisis straight to another – she barely gets space to breathe and neither does the reader. I'd have liked a bit more space between actions just so we had time to appreciate just what had happened and linger on thoughts of what she could do next. All the action seems to happen To Natalie rather than be her Choice, space to reflect may have given her the chance to influence some of her actions, and we readers would like a bit of a break from the non stop action – you can have just too much going on and it detracts from the events when we haven't really thought about them but just glossed over onto the next crisis. It does Kim's writing a disservice when we don't take time to appreciate her work.

This book is back to the better length of 242 kb for £1.93. As always its well edited and written with plots racing along. As I've said though – a bit of space between them would have been good so we can consider just how much she's gone through in a short time. Its a sereis that contains so much action, adventrue ans supernatural creatures that the reader really needs time to absorb some of the events and people.

Stars: I enjoyed this ( albeit with the pacing difficulties I feel the reader has) and felt it was back to the standard we've come to expect from Kim. Its hard once the bar is high trying to keep up to it I guess :) and readers are tough taskmasters!! I'm going for 4 stars this time – would have been four and half if there was a bit more space between each crisis.

Coming in at only 129 pages, it would be fair to say that Hells Angel is more of a novella, than it is a novel. The story is essentially about the coming together of Kellah Slater and Detective Hunter, which makes more of a dark romance than a straight up urban fantasy. Kellah is a demon who has been cast out of hell and as punishment is forced to exist on earth. Kellah sees hell as home and so little things like the fact that it is always cold on earth in comparison to hell irks her continually. Kellah for the large part only sees the evil in humanity, the constant desire to consume and rob each other blind. She makes her living as a jewel thief and lives in what is essentially a flop house.

Detective Hunter is a very troubled man. He was on the job when his partner was suddenly killed right in front of him. Shortly there after, when he enters an alleyway to help what he perceives to be a woman in need, he loses his wallet. Using his identification, someone goes to his home and kills his wife and daughter in cold blood. When he confronts the person in his home, despite his best efforts, he barely walks away with his life because the person he is battling is immortal.

Much of this story involves Hunter attempting to find a way to arrest Kellah for various crimes. Each time they are anywhere near each other; however, they both feel a strong sexual attraction. Kellah is disgusted by this because it does not fall under the guidelines of appropriate demon behaviour. For his part, Hunter is equally disgusted. In the background there is a serial killer, murdering women and Hunter has become the prime suspect. Someone on the police force is determined to make sure that he is put out of commission. In the end the question becomes can Kellah look past her demon nature to admit her love and can Hunter figure out what has been a long misunderstanding to admit his love.

I received this book from the author to give an honest review.

Wow! I was in heaven or shall I say in hell with this book from the beginning. I found myself getting a bit frustrated when someone in the house needed something as I just wanted to sit and read without being disturbed. I would say the only problem I had with this book is the fact that I did not quite understand what caused Kellah to be put on Earth by her father. But that did not defer me from giving it 5 stars. The story line was well-written, characters were strong, and the action awesome.

Kellah is a demon who is also a jewel thief. While robbing others she has someone who is trying to stop her and wants her to go to jail. Detective Hunter! He has been through something horrific, and is not only trying to capture Kellah but at the same time he is fighting his own demons. It seems as though every time Kellah and Hunter are near each other they are drawn to each other in a dark sexual way! Will Kellah be caught? Will Kellah and Hunter get together? If you want to know more then I suggest you get yourself a copy and get busy reading.

There was a twist in here that I truly did not see coming and I thought it was great. I do love the way that Kellah was described when she was in her demon form and the way people were killed. This author has a great imagination.

Hells Angel is dark, gritty, intoxicating and will leave you wanting more! This author has a talent and I can not wait to read more from her.

I was given this book on a read to review basis by the author.

Hells Angel is an Urban Fantasy series that follows the story of Kellah, a demon forced to live on Earth amongst the humans that she despises and the animals that she loves.

To survive the years of torment, Kellah steals, lies and cheats to survive and thinks nothing of it when she forces Detective Darrion Hunter to part with his wallet in an alley, unfortunately for Kellah, he doesn't forget and is still chasing her down years later.

The storyline is a great concept, and puts a twist on the normal Hell / Earth angle by seeing Earth as Hell for Demons. It's dark, and quite graphic at times, but a great read. The two main characters are well developed, and are complete opposites but they do say that opposites attract.

The final twists are a complete surprise, will keep you gripped and wanting more.

Well, this turned out differently than I expected; Wifey and I (and Kellah) do share something in common-(very minor spoiler) we prefer the company of animals (pets) to humans, at least sometimes. I had more sympathy for Kellah after I realized this.
A fair amount of action, sometimes a bit bloody, certainly a few mysteries.
I am eager to read the next one. Thanks, Kim Faulks!

REBIRTH OF LOVE ETERNAL !!!

Wow! This is my first time reading Kim Faulks and I must say, I am impressed! Emergence is the fourth novella in The Fire and Ice Series and it is an all you can eat buffet of danger, suspense, unknown enemies, adventure, paranormal romance, mystical creatures and past lives. The story is exciting, original, imaginative, thrilling, suspenseful, riveting, intelligent, romantic, arousing, sensual and steamy. The dialog is smart, crisp and flows beautifully. There are a few editing errors but overall, very well written. The characters are fascinating, captivating, engaging and sexy as sin. Natalie Sommers is a professional bodyguard. She is also a trained killer. She has completed two tours in Afghanistan and has licenses to carry five different weapons. As lethal as she is, her newest client, sexy Alexander Ash, just may be the death of her -again! Alexander Ash is a vampire and suffers the curse of his immortal life to always search for his beloved Kasia. He has found her in her present life as Natalie Sommers living in Sydney, only to have her ripped away by the Djinn, Malik who also loves and desires the lovely Natalie. Malik was the one who found her as Kasia in her original life, bloody and torn in the arms of Alexander and since, he has hated Alexander as much if not more than Alexander hates him. The hate shared by these two men is a deep seated hate born from their love of her and festering for centuries. Malik, an creature born of fire while Alexander, reborn in death and cold as ice - her fire and ice. They both want her and both are determined to have her! Natalie loves them both but knows she can trust neither but from the dark recesses of her mind, her heart reminds her that she could always trust Grayson, her ex-partner, the man who loved her but to whom she could never commit. She and Malik travel to Arabia to unravel the mystery of her past. But before she can return to Australia, Natalie is abducted by Kaige, a mysterious female vampire. She is beaten, tortured, starved, abused and used by the evil vampire and her cruel band of mythological creatures. Natalie has escaped but the cost was the unthinkable - her mortal life. Now she is more - but more what? Now Kaige, her murderer and creator has summoned her back but for what reason? Can love for Natalie be enough to unite Grayson, Malik and Alexander, and combine their efforts to finally save her? One way or another, this hell would end but at what cost this time and who would survive - if any? Oh my! Sexy vampire-check! Handsome Djinn-check! Sexy devoted ex-partner-check! Beautiful heroine-check! A menagerie of mystical creatures-check! Suspense, betrayal, unknown enemies and danger-check! Romance, love and steamy sex-Oh yeah! Faulks drew me into her web of magic and fantasy on page one and held me totally enthralled until the very last page. I could not put this book down. I loved it! I can hardly wait to read part five. Exhilarating, satisfying and entertaining!

In Love With A Demon

This is a very interesting story with a great plot. The storyline and the characters are a work of art. The story had me from the first chapter. The author used his ability with words, to craft a story that will take the reader to a place were imagination lives. The twist and turns and the desire to find out what's next keeps tuned to this story. Great Read for all who want mystery, intrigue, horror and love.

Whoa

Much better than book 3 was, a lot easier to understand. Natalie is now immortal, but she has more than 1 immortal in her blood. She's now a vampire, a djinn, and has ancient powers left to her by Makkeh. Which means she's extremely strong, powerful, and out of control as well.

She leaves her men and searches for Grayson, the one man who has always been there when she needed help, and she needs help.
