Avenged

Rate this book
Overmatched and far from home, torn between revenge and duty, Elena Aureli is running out of time.

She has youth, beauty, and money, all of which she pours into her obsessive hunt for the man she believes murdered her father. Betrayed in an attempt to secure proof of the crime, she finds herself alone in an unfamiliar city—mysterious Old Montreal—her prey now the predator, and only five days left to finish the job for which she has sacrificed so much.

Already pushed to the limits of her considerable resources, Elena must suddenly recalibrate her mission when her estranged half-brother Miles enters the picture, desperately in need of her protection. But keeping Miles alive may cost Elena her one shot at settling the score. Unless…

Elena is quick and Elena is clever, but to honor her father as well as avenge him, she’ll have to do the impossible.

I couldn't connect to any of the characters. This is never a good sign because I read and tune out at once. I can't really tell you what this book was really about.

There's Miles, who is angry at his father, and wants to be a good father.

There's Angelena who in my head looks like Ziva from NCIS.

Then there's Elena who seems like she is smart, and not.

Other than that, I can't tell you what this book was about.

Okay

Lots of the same stuff as in thousands books like this one. At some point it gets interesting but sometimes it's awfully. Badly edited - lots of mistakes, few places when it is about Angelina but he has name Elena, then back to Angelina. This books is clearly not his best. As if he had one night to write it. Can't read it unless you have nothing else. Two stars because I liked somewhat his previous books and because there were good 10 pages there, although not in one place. Could have been much better despite banal and dull plot, if only he worked on it harder

Hmm.. I don't know how I feel about this book. You got the impression that Elena was tough and brave but she had never killed anyone. And he half-brother Miles was absolutely nothing, unless it would be gullible. And Angelina was SO obviously Trask's little soldier but when it came to her Miles could only think with his dick. There was a little excitement in this book but not near enough. Elena was a definitely a let down.

Fade-to-black sex and the F-bomb was used 16 times.

As for the narration: Christina Traister did a fabulous job on the voices and the emotions when she read.

First book I've read by Daniel Hudson, Truly impressed!!

This book came up in my search for a different writer and I was very pleased. This is first of what appears to be a series. Good characters and development. The story flows nicely through a couple geographical regions. I'm look just Nguyen forward to see what happens next.

AVENGED

When I saw this book being offered at a discount, I jumped at the chance to get it. I had just recently completed the Gin Palace trilogy, and am a new Daniel Judson fan. As with the previous books, Avenged is full of characters with flaws just trying to get by and hoping to make a better life. First, I did like this book. as with the previous novels, it is well written, taut, descriptive, gripping. however i didn't like at as much as the Gin Palace trilogy. the fact that Miles' father left him and his mother to make it on their own to protect them seemed too self-serving to me. also the fact that both of the female main characters are both well trained military types seems a little far-reaching to me. The ending was just a little too pat. I wanted both Miles and his sister to survive of course but I was still a little put off by the girl saves boy ending. all in all, a good read and one that you shouldn't start later in the evening as it does make you want to continue reading. Definitely will continue reading Daniel Judson. Recommend for mystery/thriller fans.

This book was quite different from his Poisoned Rose Trilogy. Yes, there was violence, but nothing as graphic and intense as the Trilogy. I found the characters interesting, but I didn't have quite the connected feeling I had with those in the PRT. I understood the motivations, but there were a lot of characters we met briefly, who were part of the back story we were only privy to via one of the protagonists pov. I liked the book, but it didn't GET TO ME as his others have. He is a very fine writer, and that is what kept me going here. Recommend it, yes, because of the writing. I think this could have been more...of what I'm not sure, just more. A good read, but not a compelling one, as his others have been for me. I've read 5 of his books now. I will read anything he writes BECAUSE OF THE WRITING...I just want to be pulled into the story at The Trilogy allowed. and the Abducted.

I found Avenged to be a taut, gripping novel, with interesting, well developed characters and good pacing - overall a very good read. The only reason why I did not give it five stars was due to the numerous typographical and grammatical errors.

While I have seen this issue previously in eBooks, this was by far the worst example I have experienced. It is bad enough when words are left out or misspelled, but when the actual context of a sentence is changed by the omission of a word, to me, that is simply careless transcription and proof reading (the case in point was a sentence where the action is negative, but the word "not" was left out, so in effect the reader has to figure out the proper context of the sentence).

If you can look past these errors, the chances are that you will really enjoy this novel.

I had received this book through a Goodreads first-reads giveaway. The storyline was intriguing and kept me glued to the book as I read it. I loved the twists and turns that the author provided. I do wish, however, that there was another chapter about Elena's and Miles's life after all they had been through together and how they had reconnected. In all, this book was a very good read. I wouldn't mind if there was a sequel.

This book was a giveaway that I received from GoodReads. The plot was good, characters are mostly likable and believable. Good pace in the novel. I will research and read some of the other books that Mr. Judson has written. Will send this book along with my husband for reading on his summer vacation.

This was a good thriller. I'm pleased with the authors ability to swap back and forth between the viewpoints of two half siblings without making the woman appear frivolous. Then again this was no ordinary woman. =)

I received this book as a giveaway and I wish I could say that I loved it. It was just ok for me. It just didn't have the thrill I was expecting.

I had trouble imagining the moves being described in fight scenes, but I loved the book. I loved the action, the suspense, deceit, and mystery. I want to read more from Judson!

I had to debate on giving it 3 stars instead of 2. I would say 2.5 if that was an option.
