This ebook was free, so I didn't have much hope for it. And aside from a MULTITUDE of missing words and punctuation and spelling errors, the actual STORY is okay, suspenseful enough to put up with the 2nd grade level editing. (What is with that, seriously? If I proofed a book, there would be no errors, and I mean NO ERRORS). Anyway! The mystery itself is good. There are 4 guys who could be the bad guy, and you will decide one way, then start leaning toward another. I guess it's kind of obvious to me who the bad guy is, but I want to read the 2nd and 3rd books anyway to make sure I'm right ;) Because the bad guy at the end of this book is definitely not the correct "bad guy."

THIS IS THE SECOND BOOK IN A ROW THAT I HAVE REALLLLLLLY DISLIKED THE MAIN FEMALE CHARACTER. THE BAD PART IS, DON'T LIKE ANY OF THE CHARACTERS, THEY DON'T SEEM TO GEL TOGETHER, MAKES THE STORY KIND OF DISJOINTED (underdeveloped). THE MAIN FEMALE IS TESS,SHE ONE OF THE MOST DUMBA*S COPS & FEMALES I HAVE EVER SEEN. HOW SHE EVER BECAME A DETECTIVE, BEING SUCH A WEAK FEMALE, I CAN'T IMAGINE. SHE WAS A WIMP EVEN BEFORE SHE BECAME A COP. THIS IS A SERIES, IM SORRY TO SAY, I'M ON TO BK#2 (shutter!) HOPE IT GETS BETTER (I don't think so) IT'S THE SAME CHARACTER (omg) AT LEAST THEY WERE ON SALE (buyer beware) I THINK I KNOW THE REASON NOW. SIIIIGH!!!

This book reminds me of the cliche lifetime movie. The central character, Tess, is a strong, smart, beautiful women being stalked by angry, obsessed, yet amazingly capable man. We know Tess is beautiful because every man in the story loves her and takes care of her. We know she is smart because she is a police detective. We know the stalker is obsessed and angry because he is called the angry one in the brief asides where he irrationally obsesses over her.
The problem is that none of this stands up for long. This beautiful smart detective careens from one emotional crisis to the next, relatively passive, and being told what to do or protected by all the men in her life. And when she does make decisions, they simply lead to the next crisis, where one of the men can pop up to save her again. In other words, Tess is not smart, relatively passive, and more or less like a leaf being knocked about by the emotions and actions of all the people in her life. The men in her life are equally hard to believe. Her brother is pushy, nosey, and controlling. Her partner oscillates between sexual harassment and being a girlfriend, yet somehow seems to be the only guy outside of her brother that does not seem to be romantically interested in Tess. The lack of peripheral characters is also troubling, for example Tess is a detective in a busy police department that does not seem to have a supervisor.
The bright spot (sort of) is that the author does a good job of allowing all of these men to potentially be Tess's stalker. Even after he is revealed, you are pretty sure that is a set up and a different suspect will be revealed in the second and third books. To be honest, I had a suspect early on in the story, and kept reading to find out if I was correct. I could be, but I am not willing to wade through two more books to find out for sure.
I think in the end, if you can put aside the implausibility of the characters, the plot is kind of interesting. I just couldn't get past the characters.

"Stretched a little thin"

The actual premise of this story was interesting and although it ended predictably - yes, you've guessed it, by not actually ending - it was a decent enough read. It wasn't strong enough to make me buy the other two books in the trilogy, but I've found worse ways to spend a couple of hours that's for sure. I thought 'The Angry One' as a pseudonym for the serial killer was a bit twee and the further I read, certain scenarios kept repeating themselves, not verbatim, but annoying all the same. It felt like the author had set a target of so many thousand words for Book One and somehow it was going to be stretched out to meet it, come what may.

Nail bitter

I don't normally read books where women are victims but I took a chance on this one and no I dislike the women repeatedly being victims but I understand.
Turned out that I was up reading this book at 4 in the morning. I was also disappointed when I got to the end and had to go to book two to see what happens. However I decided this book is a good read but not enough to make me read book two.

This book is AWESOME! You literally do not know who this rapist/killer is until the end, and even then you are still kind of wondering if you were right. I see it says "trilogy" so I am anxious to read book 2, says its due out in Summer. I really got attached to these characters, so I can't wait for it!

Good book but no real ending

The writing was good. Numerous places where a basic word was missing from the sentence frustrated me while reading but the story was quite intriguing. I am quite disappointed that there is no resolution to the original crime by the end of the book. Not sure I will read the second book as cliffhanger style writing is sneaky.
