Cadet Lane finishes out his time at West Point

This fourth book in the Clint Lane series written by Colonel Reeder tells of Cadet Lane's experiences as a first classman or firstie as they're known (senior) at West Point. My oldest son attended and graduated from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point. This book was written in 1958. My son didn't attend the Academy until 40 years after this but it was amazing how similar living conditions were, even with the 40 year difference.

As in the first three books in this series "West Point Plebe," "West Point Yearling" and "West Point Second Classman," there was quite a bit about football and baseball. But there are also details about Cadet Lane's other activities during his last year at the Point.

There are two other books in this series - "2nd Lieutenant Clint Lane: West Point to Berlin" and "Clint Lane in Korea" that tell about Lane's adventures after graduation.

This series was written for young people but adults with interests in West Point or the military or sports should enjoy these stories as well.

A good read at any age

The fourth and final bok in the Clint Lane West Point series is as enjoyable now as it was when I read it as a boy. It's simple, yes, reflecting a more simple time, but the hero is not without fault, which I found refreshing.
