Club Decadence #3

Little Light of Mine

Rate this book
Elena Lopez has changed. Not only her outward appearance, but also inside where she struggles with her own personal demons. She tried desperately to cope with her horrible secret, but couldn't. So she ran, leaving her friends, her family and the only life she had ever known far behind. She also left Dex, who she knew was the love of her life.

Since returning from the war, Dex is different, no longer the outgoing, gregarious, extrovert he once was. He is now remote, cool and distant. But it isn't the war that plagues him, instead it's personal. He hasn't gotten over the loss of Elena, his true submissive, the perfect counterpart to his innate dominance. Will he ever be able to put the past behind him and move on? And if he can't, how will he ever exorcise her from his heart and mind. How will he make his body stop craving hers?

Neither one of them has been able to move on. Elena is unable to control her longing for him. She misses Dex and the lifestyle including the sights and sounds of BDSM, and even the spankings. So, while home dealing with a family crisis she decides it's finally time to deal with her past and face her demons. Elena knows that she must get Dex to forgive her somehow. She is determined to reach him in order to reconcile with him no matter the price. She will yield to his dominance, submit to any demands, and surrender to any punishment if she can just make it right with him again.

Return to Club Decadence where the sexy Doms and their feisty subs engage in more BDSM play. In the midst of ever present drama, danger and intrigue we meet up with old friends as they continue to battle the criminal element that continues to haunt them. As it creeps closer and closer to the safety net they have built around their women they realize that they are all at risk. Despite their past problems, Dex is determined to keep Elena safe even if that means taking her over his knee as often as is necessary.

Riveting read simply fantastic, such depth and a wonderful collective of writing and characters
This is a simply fantastic read the writing and the depth of the two main characters Master Sergeant Dex and his Sub/slave Elena re in such a wonderful relationship, they have been waiting to marry as he is due to finish his last tour of duty within the year then her whole world is turned on kit’s head.
What do you do when the person you have known since you were a child and was brought into your home by your Papa hurts you in the worst way possible, then continues along with his friends to drive this horror home on a daily basis and she tries to protect Dex and her parents.
Within a month she has become a shadow of herself and then when she tries to take her own life Dex is broken and rushes to her bedside, her Papa and Mama are lost and do not know what to do and then she runs and leaves everyone she knows and loves behind.
Dex knows there is more to the changes in Elena “His Little Light” but he has given up on their truth and yet his heart still reaches out too her, when her brother is caught drug dealing Dex’s team ask for her help and she agrees. This is how the truth comes to light and Dex cannot believe all that his love has been through.
I guarantee that when you start reading this amazing story you will not be able put this book down until you reach the end.
I assure you that you will love every moment of this book it is simply a fantastic read.

I loved reading this book but OMG it was a hard dark read…and not one for the light hearted..
Elena’s life goes from perfect to tragic at the hands of her supposed half brother but while she is caught in a vicious circle she keeps her dark secret from those she loves only to fall deeper into depression until she can’t take it no more and breaks up her engagement to Dex..
Dex is at a loss to the change in Elana but when they meet up again a couple of years later they find that they still have feelings for each other that never died..but when Dex finds out Elanas secret he will move heaven and earth to keep Elana safe…
This book definitely had all the emotional feels, suspense and drama that made this a definite page turner and I definitely can’t wait to read the next book in the series….

Elena and Dex seem to be the perfect couple. Unfortunately life got in the way. Unknown to Dex, Elena has been forced by her step-brother to do unthinkable things. She believes she is unworthy of Dex and pushes him away. But the Club Decadence crew bond together to try and bring this destined couple together.

The storyline is poignant, will tear at your heart-strings, and make you want to pull out your hair. These are two characters you will care deeply about and want to cheer on, or yell at. It is well written. Some possible triggers for those who have ever been raped or severely depressed. Definitely worthy of the Club Decadence series.

Elena and Dex's story took off running. I struggled through the first part of the book because of what Elena went through. It was a difficult read and I felt like if it continues in the same manner, I wasn't going to be able to finish it. Toward the end of the book it had me holding my breath in a similar manner.

This book had Elena working to regain Dex's trust. There was also mystery, secrets revealed, revisiting Tony Meg, Rick, and Regan, action and suspense.

The storyline is intense. If rape is a trigger for you, steer clear of this one.

I read this book in the Club Decadence box set via Kindle Unlimited.

I have been looking forward to this story since we first met Dex and Elena and I was not disappointed. The first half of this story is heartbreaking so make sure you have lots of tissues ready. Poor Elena, not only did she have to go through all that she went through, but she nearly lost the love of her life. The second half of the book is easier to read and involves all the guys at Rossi as well as their significant others. I really like the way this author introduces the main characters for the next book. A great read with tragedy and happiness but very satisfying.

This book is so relatable, I felt every pain, tear and happy moment. Elena and Dex lived the life of a military couple. Separation and desperation go hand in hand, the what if's are always present. The emotional roller coaster they go through is true in life, you feel everything, I felt everything. Parts of this book was reading parts of my own life, only in the stories the outcome is always different from real-time and draws you in to see if they make it. Well written, true passion, fear and need. I dare you not to feel when you read this one.

The reader needs to have time to read the first third of this book for two reasons a) it is a very well written page-turner and b) there is violence from the first so it can be a trigger. There are plenty of different elements. I loved Elena, she is protective , strong and sweet. Dominant Dex is good for her. I enjoyed all their interactions. All the characters are real and rounded. This book is the third in a wonderful series and the best yet. I voluntarily read an advanced reader copy of this book and I recommend it. I wish that I could give it ten stars.

This one was by far the best yet. Elena and Dax’s story is so sad and heartbreaking. I feel for Selena immediately as the first portions of the story are extremely difficult to read. I want to shake Dax a few times because he knew something had happened but he almost just gave up at first when she really needed him to fight. At the same time I’m glad he did because she needed to find her yen way through the darkness.

Elena and Dex were so in love, engaged and to marry soon. Then the unspeakable happened. Feeling the love and security disappear and the terror, helplessness and hopelessness run rampant was overwhelming. Yet all Elena could think of was to protect her parents and Dex. But the pain.
The emotions our author wrung out of me in the first chapters was astounding. And she doesn't let up till the very end. Maddie's world building and character development is fresh and well fleshed out.

Little Light Of Mine - 5 Stars!

Dex & Elena's story was everything from heartbreaking to heartwarming. The beginning was hard for me to read due to the things that happen to Elena but I absolutely could not put it down. Make sure you have tissues handy when you read this one! An amazing addition to the Club Decadence series. I cannot wait to start the next book!

There are times when I’m just after a light read to make me feel happy. If that’s what you’re after I suggest you try something else. This book is heavy, dealing with some truly traumatic stuff and will have you hooked until the end. While Dex and Elena have their HEA, it doesnt quite wrap everything up, which looks like it flows into future books. Make sure you read the trigger warnings, but I highly recommend this story.

The story of Dex (Ex-Army Sargent, business partner of Rossi Security and owner/manager of Club Decadence, Dom) and Elena (Submissive, singer). I loved the beginning of the book! From the prologue to the next few chapters. The drama happened at the beginning and I could not put this book down. From book 2, You Said Forever , we come to understand that Dex and Elena were engaged and suffered a break up. Little Light of Mine starts with a flashback on their engagement and the break up, which is totally heartbreaking! There's some serious brutal drama that happens right away. I was uncomfortable after reading it. It was touching to read about Dex and Elena as they worked through their relationship issues.

We also had a chance to catch up with Cap/Megan, Rick/Regan and some of the other Dom's of Club Decadence. I was left wondering if there would be more books starring Lil T., Jonas or Sean. I see Eric will have a spin-off series as he moves to the LA office. I hope to read the new series. The first half of the book was a page turner, the second half...not so much. Overall, I really liked it.

Why Not 5 Stars?

Lack of creativity in the drama. I'm so over the in the series. I would like to see some other form of drama. The same drama happened in three books. Boring.

I did not feel that strong connection between Dex and Elena. There was a connection there, but it was mild. Perhaps we did not see enough of their relationship prior to the engagement. When they reunited, they were still not a couple and things were tense. I don't think there were many scenes were we saw them interacting together as a couple happy.

The epilogue was weak. I do not know if more books are planned, but there were some loose ends that did not get tied up. Questions that did not get answered.

Edited to add:
The new enhanced and expanded version of Little Light of Mine is beyond excellent. The emotional impact is stunning. Maddie Taylor succeeded in raising the bar.

Dex and Elena had their relationship, their future and their love stolen from them through no fault of their own. Now years later the truth is abruptly revealed and the past is there haunting them again. Overcoming such tragic events proves to be their strength and gives ghem back the love they both thought was lost.

AMAZING! A gripping story of love and loss. Elena's journey demonstrates her ability to love and protect those surrounding her. At a time when she needed the love and support of her family the most, she chose to fight alone and regain her life, protecting those she loves from the harsh truth and consequences.
