"Would it be all right with you if life got easier?" Thousands worldwide have answered yes to that question at Dr. Maria Nemeth's breakthrough workshops, "You and Money," where they have learned how to build a powerful new relationship with money and bring their dreams to fruition. Now in The Energy of Money, Dr. Nemeth synthesizes spiritual and practical techniques to create a unique, authoritative program for achieving personal life goals and financial wealth.
Combining a thorough self-help and self-discovery regimen with proven methods of money management from Nemeth's nationally successful seminars--including four steps to establishing a healthier relationship with money--this powerhouse guide to prosperity will help you uncover the hidden landscape of beliefs, patterns, and habits that underlie and sometimes subvert your everyday use of money and personal resources.
Through exercises and meditations, worksheets, and other interactive processes, Dr. Nemeth takes you on a journey from which you will discover your sources of personal power and financial fulfillment; work through inner obstacles to your success and happiness; and harness the energy of money to realize your most cherished goals and aspirations. "Money is congealed energy," said Joseph Campbell, and releasing it releases life's possibilities.
The Energy of Money is clear, down-to-earth, and inspiring. It will guide you to financial success and help you manifest your special contribution to the world.
Really good; but you have to do the exercises to get the most from it. It's the kind of book that you need to keep going back to. I had some big realisations and I'd definitely recommend it to others.
This book has been on my shelf for almost a year now and I cant seem to get past the first few chapters despite consciously trying several times. There is something very pre 9-11 innocent about it that bugs me. What does a 15-year old terrorist attack have to do with a book about one's spiritual relationship with money? Hard to say.....but the book sounds like many books and people I knew when I was younger and a little bit more naively "spiritual". This book isn't world-weary or pained enough for me to take it seriously or to admit to taking it seriously.
BUT guess what! Each time I've picked it up for a few days, and forced myself to go through an exercise or two, I've made a decision about my finances that has been practical and, dare I say it, transformative. Yes I just used that poor overused word that get people to buy all kinds of "spiritual" crap. Transformative. But I got this book for free-ish in the online book exchange I belong to, and I put in some work (emotional, psychological, practical) after allowing myself some inspiration with the book, and some changes have occurred. Not magic, but definitely inspiring in an "Oh, I really can actually do this if I'm honest with myself, maintain some discipline and stick to the plan". Hmmm. Maybe its not so naive after all.
Since I don't think I will read this book very quickly, I'll throw out a quick review of what it is so far: VERY good. I am not typically attracted to financial or money books. This is not anything like a Suze Orman bestseller (which usually make me feel that I am doing everything wrong anyway.) This book is more philosophical and is designed to make you see money in a different way, as an energy source for the life you want. You are not asked to review your "portfolio" but your goals, aspirations, personal philosophies, habits.
If you have ever read The Artist's Way this book has some parallel exercises - looking into the messages you learned about money while growing up, for example. You are asked to journal and do exercises. Get a copy so you can underline and write in the margins. A good one.
If you are a spiritual person this book is for you. It takes the principles of spirituality and directly applies them to money. It is dense but well-written. It is a wonderful compliment to anyone's spiritual practice. I'm so grateful to have read this book. In all fairness, this book has little to do with money, but instead reminds you of your spirit so you can directly apply those principles to your cash. Lovely. Sophisticated read.
Highly recommended (at least through the first few parts, up until the section on forgiveness which to me seems to belong to a different book.) The exercises involving your own personal Standards of Integrity (who are you really?) and Life Intentions (what do you reallly want to do before you die?) alone are worth the price of admission.
Perhaps I could have given this book five stars as it is an exceptional read. I thoroughly enjoyed taking my time navigating the information and exercises. It's important to do the exercises, and you'll see why. As time passes doing the exercises reveal a great deal about who you are and where your energy (not just money related) is. I found the read enlightening. I've already incorporated some things, and I'm definitely more mindful as a result of the read. There's gratitude for sure. The book has a very holistic approach to discovering your money-nature by speaking to far more than money. All things are connected and the book does a wonderful job at making the connections outside of money. If you're looking to be inspired as well as to make changes that will not only enhance your money energy, but will enhance your overall well being, and life energy, read it! Enjoy the changes that come with being in the flow.
This is a really good book for exploring (personal) money history as well breaking through old patterns/beliefs regarding money. I highly recommend this book to anyone interested in shifting their views about money.
The work begins after reading this book! I have done work through three of the twelve principles this book talks about. Energy is life and I very quickly discovered that what I was dealing with is pure life force energy that extends into every area of my life!
Money is the most logical way to approach quality of living because it is an expression of the tangible and physical world. My thoughts, feelings, and relationship with it is a direct reflection of the energy I carry inside. It is the same way that energy shows up in every part of my life.
Go deep into reflection beyond your mind into your heart and ask yourself, Is my life working the way I want it to? If not, what am I open to doing? If you plan to rush through this book and read it like a novel, it is not for you YET.
Please keep in mind that to get something you never had you have to do things you have never done. I opened this book with this knowledge and with just under 25% of the work completed, I have come face to face with a great deal of discomfort and fear!
I am still here and starting to feel a new sense of power that I already have! I will continue to exercise it and grow stronger every day by applying it to all my affairs! I dare you to do the work in this book. It will transform you into the magnificent soul you already are!
I found some of the wording in this book aggravating. The term "monkey mind" struck me like nails on a damn chalkboard every single time it popped up in the text, and it popped up a lot. Don't blame monkeys for my poor decision making. I'm an asshat, sure, but the monkeys aren't to blame. Somebody, please, think of the monkeys.
Parts of this I found utterly useless, and had a tough time getting through, because they either didn't really apply to me, or for whatever reason I couldn't pay attention during specific segments. Must be because of those long tailed primates we were talking about earlier. No, not lemurs. Pay attention.
However, other exercises were extremely useful to me, and helped me recognize negative patterns and areas that needed improvement. Certain chapters I flew through, and intend to re read.
Time will tell whether the book helps improve my finances or not. This is the kind of book that requires focus, and willingness to follow through with the questions asked and exercises given. It's a revisit regularly style project for sure.
I can attest that from now on when anyone around me says anything about having money problems I will refer them to The Energy of Money or if anyone asks to borrow money because they are low on money or living paycheck to paycheck I will refer them to The Energy of Money, I even wrote notes on a small notepad while reading this book and keep it in my bag so i can read over it often in order to always be reminded of the lessons I’ve learned from this gem.......
This book is life changing for me. I love the exercises at the end of each chapter- completely eye opening and full of self-discovery. I now recognize what led to my cyclical bad habits with money stemming from childhood, and I finally feel I'm on the path to improving how I spend and save in order to reach multiple goals. This book is excellent for any journey of self-discovery in trying to reach your goals, even if not related to money. I cried a lot and it wasn't easy, but I finally feel change. I also cut up all my credit cards as full commitment to change.
I'm not reading this so much as keeping it by the bed and randomly reading a short chapter when I have nothing else in reach. I'm just sick of feeling like I'm studying, so it works well this way, picking up tidbits and food for thought to slowly digest. It's an interesting read, and I recommend it.
I found this book to be helpful in more ways than just with money. It really forces you to look at yourself and think about why you do what you do. It was a long counseling session in a book. Just be prepared, this isn't a book you should get if you're looking for a quick read. This book requires a lot of patience, time, and honesty within yourself.
One of the best books related to money I've ever read! I have been speaking with Maria Nemeth's, the author & will be offering some upcoming web innards featuring Maria as our guest speaker!
I prefer Denise Duffield-Thomas's books Lucky Bitch and Get Rich Lucky Bitch over The Energy of Money. However, Maria Nemeth has very salient points, plenty of activities to try, and a generally accessible writing style.
For me, the reason this was a three star book and not a four star was the excessive - for me, not necessarily for others - focus on spending less and not wasting income. That is not my issue, and pretty much never has been. So I wasn't necessarily her target demographic. She seemed to be writing for people who generally made enough money to do well, but weren't managing it well, or focusing on their goals well. I appreciated the Lucky Bitch books well because Denise could meet you where you were at and climb up. Nemeth was actually writing about some clients who chose to make less, to have room in their life for living. I'm not there. So, I would recommend this book to some people, but not to a young person, just trying to start out. The angle seems to be more towards people in their forties or fifties, mid to late career. I became frustrated at the repeated suggestions that I not "leak energy". Frankly, I need to add energy!
I appreciated her Hero's Journey references, and the Life Intentions and Standards of Integrity. It was worth reading the book for those first two-three chapters. The forgiveness exercises are useful, though I prefer different modes, the ideas are excellent and I have used them effectively, before reading this book.
Money is your directed, harnessed power! And Maria walked me through ways to perceive this!
Her perspective is a step back from a usual way of looking at money and what it represents and how we relate to it.
The concepts followed by very powerful exercises are changing my view on money and maybe more importantly on my view of abundance. And a way to expand upon this is to become capable to sit with vulnerability while being in service to others!
Thank you Maria, to you and to all who played a role in your story and in the creation and distribution of this beautiful piece of work!
P.S. I'll be going through this several times. It is an iterative process...
Nemeth writes in a holistic, deep way to get to the root of your relationship with money, and frankly, yourself and energy at large. There's a conscientious edge to it and HOURS of journal prompts, so I'd consider giving yourself a month or more to complete this read. You will definitely learn something. Recommended!
It was supposed to be about money, but it goes so much deeper! It is about ourselves and our values. What a wonderful book! It has brought me so many new insights. I highly recommend this book for anyone who need to tap into a deeper layer of themselves in order to aligned their purpose.
This book changed how I looked at money. I imagine I did the exercises in it, but since it's been at least a decade since I read it, I don't quite remember. I do know that it changed how I regard money. I highly recommend it.
tough read because of all the exercises you have to do but WELL WORTH THE TIME AND EFFORT! I learned so much about myself doing these exercises and I feel like my energy about money definitely shifted.
Excelent content, very well explain with valuables exercises, I highly recommend this book, abundance is much more than money and this book show us how to create this abundance sin our life
I read it as a recommendation from my coach Kathy Caprino. The book can be very useful if you complete the exercises. I found it even more useful to apply to other areas of life than "money areas" but I'm a Finance professional so numbers never scared me to start with.
First half of the book gets you hooked, gets you thinking and wondering about money. However, the second half of the book drags and it felt that it was just stuff in there for more content.
