This slim volume is targeted to a very specific, small audience. It is best read by individuals who are in charge of developing the visual identity of a new company or the re-branding of an existing company. Outside of that group, it would have very limited interest. But ... if you are an entrepreneur thinking about the visual impact of your new (or existing) business, this book presents some very valuable information on how that process should best proceed.

The book's visual style breaks the content up into chunks of digestible information: Brand Platform, Naming, Identity Design and UI/UX Design. The process of naming a company (or institution) and extending that identity out to various "touch points" including interactive web design and social media is all very clearly delineated. The one area that is given short shrift is case studies. There is one mentioned, but additional and more in-depth case studies could serve to support the various points the book makes.

Still, if you are that person, looking for a brand or an identity for your business, this book can contribute significantly to how you think about this process and what pitfalls to avoid.
