Without You is a novel written in the first person. Join Emily Larson who has an abusive husband called Jerry. I found the abuse that Jerry gave Emily rather funny because it put the woman in her place. Without You is written from a woman's perspective but it is a challenge for male readers to have empathy for Emily as she is not pulling her weight.

As so often happens in real life, victims of abusive relationships leave their partners only to become involved in yet another abusive relationship. So Emily leaves Jerry and hooks up with Vinny and the cycle of abuse continues. So does Emily's habit of little work but lots of shopping!

Without You is set in America and Emily is living a luxurious lifestyle, with little work and lots of eating out plus shopping malls. But this is not just a love story because Emily and the reader suspect that Vinny is up to something dodgy as her tale unfolds.

Without You is available as a 393 KB Amazon Kindle eBook that was written in 2013. It is easy reading and made me chuckle in places. I did warm to Emily as she started to get her act together and turn her life around. E. L. Black's writing is easy to follow and the story is full of content and social observations. This is a good book and should appeal to both genders. I enjoyed reading this book which has a creepy end and I vote it 4 stars. This is a good story that would also make a good film, a romantic comedy with a creepy twist.

I disliked this book, but at the same time I could hardly put it down. The writing was different than any I have ever read. It was kind of like a fiction memoir, but it was too silly to be taken seriously. I am sure there are woman out there that would put up with the abuse this woman went through, but is you have any sense and you are so well in a relationship with your mom; I would have been out of there before the book started and the pool incident, "Goodby Jerk." Maybe it was supposed to be peculiar funny intentionally. That is what kept me reading. I could not put the book down at first since it seemed like a diary you discover hidden in a niche. The further I got though, the more I though it was becoming a big waste of time. So since it was a book you really did not have to absorb and easy to read, I just read a small bit at a time. I may have quit about 60% into it, but I wanted to have it on my challenges. The book was free and book covers really make me want to read a book. I do go further than the cover though, if paying. Since it was free and under the suspense/mystery category I did give it a go. If you have extra time and it grabs you, you may like it.

EL Black writes about really scary scenarios! Oh my goodness! Again I can recommend one of her books! I had chills and shouted at the main character throughout the book! What makes it even worse is that even though this is fiction, it is not farfetched at all! The author constantly surprises me with the stories she comes up with! Cannot wait to read another book by her!
If you are looking for something different and real, this is a book you should consider!

Terrible book

Don't even waste your time. One of the worst books I've read in years. Halfway through the author just gives up. I understand that to immerse yourself in the story, there must be a suspension of disbelief, but there are too many things that are impossible to believe. I felt cheated when I finished it. It had potential but never clicked. I didn't even like the characters.

Without You or Me

I cannot say I was a huge fan of this book. I disliked Emily, the main character, throughout the book. She was selfish and did not think things through. It is hard to root for her as a protagonist to have a happy ending. Probably will not read another book by this author.

Don't waste your time

The plot is ok but far reaching. The writing style is amateurish and immature. The book contained several mistakes that should have been caught by an editor.

Must read more!!!!

E L Black has written such an amazing book. I was captured from the beginning. Such an amazing and powerful story, you would think you were right there alongside Emily as all the madness is happening to her. It felt so real as I was reading.

This book overall was really good and a story twisted. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves romance plus mystery all in one. Also, this was a page Turner!

Crazy ain't the word for it!

What's that saying...out of the frying pan and into the fire! Emily finally thinks she's found happiness, but craziness is ahead. Wow!
