Whew! I told myself I’d take a break from this series after #3 and read something else for a bit. Unfortunately, the cliffhanger forced me to go right into book #4 and get 1/2 way through it without stopping! Yes, this series is a fast moving rollover-coaster that I just can’t put down! I’m sure I’ll be reviewing 4 any minute now and rushing head long into #5!

Relentless,intense, and non-stop running away from some really weird zombies. Collings has come up a very different approach to the end of the world storyline with his VERY unusal set of zombies. First off, you can't kill them. Like Mongo in Blazing Saddles that just makes them MADDER. 2nd, they can repair themselves somehow, and they are very, very, creepy.
A small group of surviors is on the run (during all 3 books so far) and each one with a cliff-hanger that leaves you going: "Oh yeah, I am so there for the next book". I have rated each of these Colony zombie books with 5-stars. The author is on to something REAL good.

Amazing
I'm not big on series books but this one is an exception !!!
I read books 2 through 6 in 2 days, reading late through the night. Great story and characters.
Not your usual zombie story Many, with many suprising twist and turns.

The story while still developing is a little same old same old for those of us who like a zombie fest. There are some little twists that sustain the interest.

3.5* overall, however the against-the-odds struggle and non-stop crisis confronting the protagonists is becoming a bit wearing and veering beyond credibility despite the interesting story line.

Another great book in the Colony series. Action packed, great characters, excellent story. Looking forward to the next in the series.

Author shows no love for the characters. It's non-stop! Sometimes I just want them to have a breather...to be able to take a break. Nope.

The Colony : Descent is the third book in this series and I have been hooked since book one. If you love zombie books then you'll love this series.

Book 3 in The Colony saga starts with a small band of humans still trying to out run the zombie horde which has taken over Earth. It took only a few hours for society to crumble but a few humans still managed to survive and this is their story. The Colony: Descent by Michaelbrent Collings is a story of hope, survival and zombies.
Descent is just a little different then the first two books. The story begins with 8 people trying to get away from fast-moving zombies who are just as smart as the humans and can't seem to be destroyed. The survivors have to run through an empty skyscraper and a wrecked aircraft but they finally manage to get to a safe place. There escape comes at a cost though, they are still trapped and they are not in good shape. They need food and medicine and they have no supplies.
One thing that sets this book apart from the last two is it has a little humor and there is a little downtime for the characters. I liked the non stop action that's in the first two installments and the first half of this book but I liked it that things slowed down in this one, you got to know the characters better and it sets up some really creepy scenes. The action picks up again towards the end and when the zombies find their way to the survivors it is one of the scariest things that I've ever read in a zombie novel.
My favorite part of this story is the relationship between Ken and his wife Maggie. In a stressful time Maggie has turned against Ken but when things get harder they come together. There was one scene I liked where Ken sees two of the other survivors show affection for each other and feels jealous. Another scene I liked was when Maggie sees all the survivors working together and thinks to herself "my family." I love how all the survivors work together against the zombies despite their differences.
Descent also has one of the funniest lines that I've ever read in a book. After Ken has been passed out for a long period of time due to infection, he wakes up and asks how long they have been where they are and his daughter answers: "We've been here for seven poops." I also loved the zombies who were trapped in the airplane and how decapitated zombie body parts start to come after the survivors in the sewer tunnel.
Descent has some great moments, I think this was the best in the series and I'm glad there is a part 4 coming. This one may have less action but it is scarier than the others and all the characters really had a chance to shine. My only complaint about this book was that there are lots of questions that get brought up and I figured they would get answered in this one. Instead the book ends with another major cliffhanger. On the bright side I'm curious what Michaelbrent Collings has in store for the survivors. Considering how each book had something that made it more terrifying than the last one, I have to see what Michaelbrent Collings comes up with next.

"Descent" raises the stakes and tests the cohesion of all the survivors in Ken’s group when his children inexplicably “change” or become connected to the zombies in some unknown way. From the fantastically creepy settings—including a long decent through the shredded hull of a downed passenger aircraft—to the strained relationship dynamics of these wonderful, mostly likeable characters, the horrors are endless and the suspense is relentless. Also there are snow leopards in this book...they are awesome, and you'll have to read to find out why. I was glued to my seat from beginning to end with each installment and couldn’t put the books down. The ending to this particular episode will leave you dying to figure out what happens next. Looking forward to reading the next installments in the series.

I'm still hooked on the series. this one was interesting because it is talking about his family and how how the daughters are doing or changing or what not and how they almost got trapped by the zombies. the book really keeps you interested, it keeps you wondering what's going to happen next. I do feel as if Ken is getting a little rambling and he's starting to go a little loopy it makes you skip through a little bit.

This series just keeps getting better and better. The books are short, but easy to read and you can't wait to see what will happen. Can't WAIT for #4!

This entry wasn't as strong as the previous one, and some bits are getting repetitive, but this is still one of the top zombie books on the market!
