Beaten and betrayed by the one who was supposed to love her, Carly Richards is on the run! Forced to live as a fugitive as her ex-fiance stalks her across country, she finds refuge in a small town in Montana. Her emotional scars are reluctant to heal, and Carly resists the friendliness of those around her ~ especially handsome farmer Joe Baird. Caught in the circumstances, the kind people around her begin to creep into her softening heart. God is at work, and she has to trust Him not only to take care of her, but care for the people she is learning to love.
Amanda Stephan is just a normal, everyday country girl. She resides near Columbia, TN with her husband and children, three cats, one dog, and multiple roosters that love to roost under their bedroom windows. She loves to laugh and have a good time, and loves to read a good book.
She started writing her own stories when she learned how to hold a pencil. Writing out of love for her family and love for God, she finds writing to be an opportunity to share God's love for others in a fun and entertaining way.
If you were to ask her to share one thing about herself that most people don't know, she'd have so many to choose from that she'd probably hesitate for a moment. Not quite a recluse, she's rather camera shy, doesn't like to be in the spotlight, and absolutely LOVES to have her feet tickled. Yes, it drives her husband crazy.
Amanda writes Christian fiction, has two published novels, and is currently working on a three book family saga/romantic suspense series, as well as a Christian Speculative novel. Click the links to read excerpts!

It isn’t often that I want to read a novel that is not a fantasy/science fiction, but from the first few sample pages that I read on Amazon, I was hooked on Amanda Stephan’s “The Price of Trust.” The main character, Carly, had been on the run from her rich, powerful, abusive former fiancé, Ian, for two years. No matter where she went, he always found her. The story begins with Carly’s car giving up and dying in a small out of the way American town. No money, no car, and tired of running, she stays. Relying on her faith in God, she is able to find a job and a place to stay with the owners of a mom-and-pop hardware store. Frightened and wary, she slowly learns to trust and love the people of her new community while always living with the sure knowledge that the monsters of her past will eventually show up and destroy her and possibly those she has come to love. I felt the material that focused on her new relationship with Joe, could have been shortened to pace the story better. However, the exciting encounters with Ian’s henchmen did ratchet up the suspense and kept you wondering when, Ian, or one of his bullyboys would pop up and drag her away from her new life and force her back to her miserable existence of pain and suffering, or worse, kill her and anyone who dared to love her. I recommend this book as both a Christian romance and a suspense story. I especially recommend it to young men and women as an example of how a Godly relationship can bring real joy to a marriage. Author, Amanda Stephen writes her first novel, The Price Of Trust as if her work has already reached the top of the New York bestsellers list! Carly Richards the main character is on the run. Now that sentence alone is a powerful one considering this book is characterized as a Christian Romance. Why is Carly on the run? Did she break the law? Is she running from something or someone? Carly’s old clunker of a car finally comes to rest in a quaint town in Montana. This is where Carly finds a piece of heaven in the town’s people, her church and a handsome farmer by the name of Joe Baird. Love does start to blossom with Joe but will it last? Will Carly’s past destroy all hope for a brighter future in someone she has grown to love and trust? You will have to read the book yourself to find out Carly’s fate… As for this first time author, I am anticipating the release of her next novel.
An intricate tapestry of fear, faith, mystery, and down-home goodness, author Amanda Stephan has interwoven these elements and offers us The Price of Trust. The thread of fear crosses the strand of faith as Carly Richards attempts to outrun the long-arm of her abusive ex-fiance. And the mystery builds while the abuser’s cohorts trail Ms. Richards into a small Montana town filled with down-home goodness. Love is waiting in the wings there, but will Carly’s torn and tattered heart be trusting enough to receive it?
I find author Amanda Stephan’s style of storytelling refreshing within these pages: her plot delivering the reader to the sweet simplicities of life amidst a hectic world, and her prose reminding us that the basics of life is what life is really all about- faith, hope, and love… and a tree is known by the fruit that it bears.

I just finished this book and absolutely loved it. It pulled me in from the first page and I could not put it down! The characters were genuine, very realistic, and very likable. The blend of mystery, suspense, and romance was perfect. It kept my interest throughout the entire book, and I was always rallying behind the main character. I would guess the author to be experienced in writing and creating characters, because the book flowed so well, and was so interesting. There were no unanswered questions at the end, which always makes me happy. I would love to read more from this amazing Christian author!
Amanda Stephan has managed to take equal parts faith, intrigue, humor, and love and turn them into a delicious recipe called "The Price of Trust". This enchanting story of a frightened and lonely young woman fleeing an abusive ex fiancee kept me on the edge of my seat from beginning to end. The journey the main character Carly undertakes with the Lord turns her from a terrified victim into a confident, stand-your-ground, loved, and cherished woman. If you are looking for a christian romance with lots of spice and zest thrown in for good measure, then look no further than this book.
I loved this book! The Price of Trust is exactly my type of book! Ms. Stephan did an awesome job. In my humble opinion, she combined just the right combination of intrique, romance and drama. Her unwillingness to compromise the gospel was refreshing! I am really looking forward to her next book!
I really liked this book. First of all, it's romance without being sappy. The main character is on the run so you have a bit of suspense thrown in and just the fact that it's set out west made for a really entertaining story. I enjoyed this so much that I am hoping Ms. Stephan will spin off other books based on different characters in the book. In a nutshell, I think Amanda Stephan is one of the best Christian Romance novelists.

I saw the interesting cover of this book in an email and then read the back cover material. Here is just part of it: Carly Richards is on the run. For the last two years, she's skipped from town to town, ducking her dangerous and well-informed ex-fiancé every few weeks, never settling anywhere for long. With the death of her parents, Carly's vulnerability made her trust a man with an attractive facade, now that same man tracked her across the country, always nipping at her heels, preventing her from reaching out to anyone other than her God. Now she's in Montana, and surely that is far enough away from Texas and her abusive past that she can rest. But her emotional scars are reluctant to heal, I immediately wrote Amanda and told her that I had to have the book. When you can wrap mystery and romance in one package, I’m there. The Price of Trust didn’t let me down. I was intrigued from the first page and the closer I got to the end, the more I was hooked. The last 50 pages cost me a night’s sleep. I simply couldn’t sleep without knowing what happened—so I stayed up most of the night. Make no mistake, this book is not the soft ‘boy sees girl across the room, stars twinkle, and bells ring and they live happily ever after’. This story shows us that bad things do happen to good, Godly people. We are not isolated from tragedy in our lives. The difference is not in what happens to us, but how we handle it. The story’s main character, Carly, is a good example of how Christian’s ought to act when faced with crisis in their lives—with one exception. Carly has been making her own decisions about the solving the problem, instead of relying on God to take care of it. She learns to trust God, her instinct and trustworthy friends. Amanda did a great job with this book. Through good, clean literature and a great story, she teaches the plan of salvation, trusting in God, and surrounding yourself with Christians who will stand beside you in a crisis. I highly recommend this book. I am giving it five stars only because that is all I can give. Thanks Amanda. Keep them coming.
With amazing creative dexterity, Amanda Stephan draws her readers into a story of intrigue, faith and a love which overcomes evil against tremendous odds, in her first novel, “The Price of Trust”. The book is aptly titled and this is revealed as the story unfolds. The delightful trusting heroine, Carly is duped by an abusive, possessive ex-boss, who lures her into his web by dangling money and the promise of a life of luxury when he asks her to marry him. Left all alone after the death of her father who has cared for her after her mother succumbed to illness some little while before, it is understandable how Carly could fall for Ian’s treacherous charms. When she realises that she could be in danger she flees for her life from this man and for months, this lonely frightened young girl is forced to keep changing her address and her identity to evade Ian and the watchdogs he sends out to find her. Tired of running, she is content to settle in the sleepy backwater town where her ancient motor car finally dies on her. Her character as a praying Christian with a strong faith in God to take care of her shines through in the several situations where uncertainty and the menace of being stalked is ever present. I particularly liked the way in which Stephan interjects prayer throughout her story, reinforcing for the reader how important it is to have a faith which manifests itself in constant dialogue with the Heavenly Father for guidance, protection and direction. Carly’s faith is rewarded when she is welcomed into the hearts of the townspeople. An elderly couple offer her a job with accommodation, the members of the church she attends with religious faithfulness are warm and loving and soon she is introduced to a leading family with whom her fortunes become inextricably bound. This is a delightfully written story. The cut and thrust of the chase, the fear which at times is palpable, the suspense building to a crescendo, plus a believable love affair that provides the foundation on which Carly develops confidence to stand up to her tormentor, are the right blend for a great novel.
Carly Richards (aka Carly Adams or “Red”) has been on the run for two years from her abusive ex-fiance, a man that her father didn’t actually approve of. It seems that no matter where she goes, he tracks her down. This time, however, she finds herself stranded in a small town in Montana without a vehicle. Her parents are deceased, so she is on her own except for God, whom she trusts to care for her.
Carly lands a job at a local hardware store run by Sam and Sue. Since they can’t pay much for wages, they offer her a tiny apartment above the store. Sue, the match-making romantic, tries to hook her up with Joe Baird. Because of her past with Ian, her ex-fiance, Carly finds it difficult to trust men. God has other plans for her that she’s not so sure of. Can she trust God in this area of her life?
Amanda does a great job of instilling suspense, danger, jealousies, humor, and romance in her debut novel. Not only is Carly wondering if or when Ian will trap her, Amanda had me wondering, too, as Ian didn’t take no for an answer when it came to the end of their relationship! Kept me reading continuously to figure out the source of Ian’s information of where she was, what she was doing, with whom she was associating with, and what he planned to do about it and when.
I liked the fact that Amanda isn’t afraid to have the heroine praying throughout her situations. She has Carly surrounded by a lot of praying Christians that help her through the circumstances she finds herself in.
I would have liked to have seen a few more insidious incidences to up the ante of suspense a little more. Other than that, great job!
This book was provided by Amanda in exchange for my honest review.
I loved this book. Carly is running. Somehow she has now run into a life she has been trying to avoid. She loves the town, the people are great, and then there is Joe. He is a wonderful man that she could see herself falling for but can't let that happen. She has to stay mobile and not get attached. If she gets attached to people they could get tangled in the mess she is in and be hurt.
I loved Carly. She had her moments but through the whole story, she was considering the consequences of her actions to others. Joe was wonderful too. His strength and faith were very drawing. I also love how the town seemed to just take Carly in. There were a few people who were mean but Joe's family was so close and loving. Not to mention the wonderful couple at the store. The author did a wonderful job with all of her characters and I can't wait to read more from her!
I rate this a 5/5. I completely enjoyed this book!
Sometimes love makes us do the wrong things. Carly finds that out the hard way in Amanda Stephan's The Price of Trust. Carly gets mixed up with an abusive man. Luckly she gets away before she makes the mistake of marrying him. But will he leave her alone? Will she ever be able to get away from him and find true love, the love God intended her to have? The loving town she ends up in holds more future for her than she could ever imagine, will she stay and let God work His miracle, or will she run....again?
Author Amanda Stephan will delight readers with her gripping novel, The Price of Trust!
Carly is on the run...again! She is trying to stay one step ahead of her past but time and time again finds herself in danger and moving on.
She has learned to put her trust in God but very few other people. Now Carly finds herself in a place she'd rather not leave but feels she must in order to keep those around her safe.
What is God's plan for Carly? To find out what The Price of Trust really costs Carly you must read Amanda Stephan's page-turner yourself.
I thought this book was amazing! I started the book last night and finished it this morning! I could not put it down! It gets you sucked in right from the start. I loved the way the author mixed in mystery that had me on the edge of my seat most of the time, with a sweet romance, and a story of God's amazing protection and forgiveness!! The story was truly inspirational, warms the soul and the heart!
Definitely an enjoyable read! Amanda Stephan did a great job writing her debut novel. The characters are genuine, to the point that you would want to see a sequel to this book. The story is interesting enough to keep reading and the gospel message is uncompromised. Some dialogues were a bit too long for my taste, but overall: awesome job Amanda!
Carly Richards is s running away from a painful past, never dreaming she would find the love of her life in a small Montana town. Faith lessons, lots of romance, suspense and a few twists make this a good read for the romantic in you!
Checking out some new blogs late last year, I ran across a blog for an up and coming author, Amanda Stephan, who had written a book called The Price of Trust. The story line of this book really intrigued me and I knew I would want to purchase it the first chance I could. And because the book is also available on Kindle, it didn't take long to buy it and was well worth the read!
The Price of Trust follows a young woman who is running from an abusive relationship that she had left years before. By God's grace, she finds herself in a small town where she begins to finally feel at home and settle down. Just as things are almost perfect, her world comes crashing in. He's found her and he's not letting her go without a fight.
To keep from spoiling this fantastic story for you, I will leave it at that. One author stated:

I loved that the main character had faith in God from the very beginning, even when she had been on the run for so many years. Later in the story, when she thinks it's time to run again, the author points out that she realizes that even though she "knows" God is in control, she hasn't fully trusted Him in that.
The love story between the main character and her new beau is a beautiful story of two people who have to fight old demons from past relationships as well as her abusive ex and still find a way to trust each other and God in the process. They stay pure in both the physical and emotional sense as well as keeping all appearances of the contrary out of their lives.
This book is just a fantastic read! So good, that I finished it within about two weeks, even with my crazy schedule! To order your copy, you can go to Amazon or download it to your Kindle today!
The Price of Trust by Amanda Stephan Living a Christian life is not easy, writing a novel about living day to day as a Christian is, in my opinion, even harder still. The story has two main protagonists, Carley; a Christian woman saved at a very young age needs to flee from Ian, a man who believes in beating woman into submission. She lands in a small town where she does not intend to stay long, she will move on, soon. She needs to, so enters the town bully and his sons' bad men all three of them. The father is patronizing the sons are looking for a good time. But Carley is not perturbed, fleeing and remaining out of Ian's' reach is her only goal. But God has other plans for Carley, she meets Joe, and with this meeting her life takes on an entirely new course. Ian and the bad brothers play an excellent role in fluffing out Carley and Joe's roles within this book, testing their faith. I have never read a Christian fiction book so based on day to day living. And I admire the author for her ability to make the characters, fun, loveable, admirable and God fearing without ever making them preachy and off-putting. A 5 * prayer filled rating. WaAr
If you are a Christian romantic, you will quickly get lost in, The Price of Trust. Or, if you are searching for answers as to what true love is really all about, you will find a beautiful portrayal of it here in, The Price of Trust. Let author Amanda Stephan take you into the world of a self-serving, obsessive, and brutal love gone wrong to a godly, self-giving love that is love at its best. I am sure your heart strings will be tugged as you witness how God does indeed work out his perfect and beautiful plan in the lives of Joe, Carly, Todd, and Kelley. If you want to spend a wonderful few hours reading a good romantic Christian novel, you can’t go wrong with, The Price of Trust.
Christian romance is my favorite genre, so I jumped at the chance to download the title from Smashwords. (Thank you Amanda for giving me a free download.) This is a first novel, but the story has the polish and emotion of a veteran in field. I usually don't like the conversion experience when written into a novel because they seem forced and un-natural; such was not the case in The Price of Trust. This time it fit, and made sense; even though it was a minor character to whose inner thoughts the reader is not privy. This is a story of a woman running from an abusive relationship who trying to hide in order to survive. She never expects to find a place where she wants to stay, where she finds a home, where she finds love. The Price of Trust is a very enjoyable read.
I just finished reading The Price of Trust by Amanda Stephan that I won on her blog give-away. It's about a girl who is trying to get out of an abusive relationship and even though she is cut down at every move she tries to make, she never falters from her faith. She trusts God to protect her and is even able to witness to another person from her hospital bed about how God protected her in the situation. I laughed, I cried, I remembered how I felt when I was in her position many years ago, though not to the same extreme. I highly recommend this book and can't wait to share it with everyone, I am sending it to my sister first. I look forward to Amanda's next book.
This book had the potential of being good. The story-line was interesting and the characters engaging. However, I do not feel the book lived up to its potential. The main character, Carly, is being stalked by her former boyfriend and is in danger. I wish that she would have at least tried to get a restraining order on him and involved the police to be on the look-out for him. Also in her new relationship, the author constantly refers to her new boyfriend as "playfully" punching her or "pinching" her ear. That sat really wrong with me considering one of the main topics was domestic abuse. Never something to be taken lightly!
I love the storyline, it has suspense, romance (who doesn't like romance ?) and most of all it is well written by Amanda. She has a way with words, her very one style and I found it to be gentle. I did like the main characters, but I also liked the brother, Todd and the way Joe and him got along. Very nice and inspiring, promoting faith in Jesus and Christian relationships with friends and family.
I was very pleased with this book. The characters have true to life chips on their shoulders and need to work through their own issues before being open to the love that they can have for eeach other. I do wish that the resolution to the story took a little more time and was developed a little more.
I enjoyed this book. It was clean, and romantic. Some was unrealistic, but enjoyable just the same. This story was about a girls running from her ex-fiance. He was very abusine, and she was tired of running from him.
This book was amazing. I've read it so many times and I love it even more each time I read it! The Price of Trust is a must-read if you like Romance novels.
