In this action-packed fantasy tale, romance, adventure, and intrigue surround Aiden as he learns just what he is capable of when he discovers confidence and courage.

My Review:

I really enjoyed this novel written by Janelle Stalder, her writing is fantastic, easy to read, and character and plot development is written extremely well. This was one of those stories that once you start reading you don't stop till you reach the very end. Janelle Stalder has created a unique world and shared it with us; I cannot wait to read the next installment in this series.

This story has two plots running and Janelle Stalder did a great job in combining the two worlds.

Lets first talk about Aiden, 15 year old young man who is tall, skinny a bit awkward and feels out of place most of the time. We see him struggling in school, being bullied and you feel for him right away. His home life appears to be okay, has a new baby sister who you can see he loves. I have to say again that Janelle did a terrific job writing the interactions between brother and sister it was touching to see a young man love his baby sister.

One night he sees something and approaches a person asking them what they want? His life is about to change and he doesn't know if he can pull this off. Can Aiden believe in himself to help save Eden?

There are many other character's introduced in the story and I absolute loved it, I cannot wait for the next book. It's very hard to say much more without using spoilers.

I can and will say again that if your reading my review you need to go put this book "Eden" on your list to read right now, or better then that you should go purchase it immediately.

I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

I’m going to say Wow again. This book was fantastic.

When I began the book I wasn’t sure I was going to like it. Not for anything more than I thought it was about a genre I don’t normal read but one I watch often on tv. But before the prologue was over, I was hooked. I couldn’t put the book down. I read straight through with minor breaks.

This story has multiple storylines that some authors can’t pull off. Not Janelle Stanlder. She takes it and runs away and as a reader you just sit back and enjoy the ride.

This story is told mostly from the point of view of a young male, Aiden and Janelle also pulls this off with flying colors. The story has romance but not enough to be considered a romance novel and that is fine. The story doesn’t need more than what it has to be great.

I’m personally in love with Callum. I really enjoyed the story line between Aiden/Elisa/Wolf and Rose/Callum. I can’t wait for the sequel, so I hope Janelle works double time! I also really love Turk and hope to find out more about him.

This is a fabulous read and I highly recommend to anyone.

My book boyfriend in this book is Callum.

You can clearly see I LOVED this book. This is for so many different reasons, but let's begin with the story.

Aiden is a teenage boy from our world, he is not popular, he is not cool and he gets picked on a lot. When one night a witch shows up at his front yard saying he is a special warrior mend to play a great role in an upcoming war of another world he is sucked into her magic and gets transproted to Eden. There two brothers fight for the throne and the High King's title. He joins forces with the current High King's army and so his story unfolds.
All the while we get to see the story from so many different points of view. Elisa is the daughter of the Captain of the High King's army, she is constanly trying to prove herself as the best archer the army has. Rose is a girl from one of the villages in the north the army of Brutus and the King's brother has attacked, she is captive of the army but soon finds herself protected by the King's younger brother.

The world of Eden is beautifully created with parts of its history turning up on the story to blend everything together in the present. The characters are all so vivid and distinct. I especially loved Logan and Rose. Logan's lines always made me smile or laugh and Rose, even if she thinks she is just a normal village girl with no way to escape her fate, she has such a great inner strength that can help her do so much more than any physical strength could ever.

Another reason I love this book is the author. Janelle Stalder was the one who provided me with an e-copy of it and I am really glad she did. She is super sweet and always ready to answer any questions about Eden.

I didn't originally know that this book was a part of a series, but now that I do I can't wait for the next one!!!

Eden was a delightfully charming read. We have amazing character development, a sexy bad boy, an endearing awkward teenager, and an incredibly unique story. What an adventure!

Aiden is a 15 year old modern high school student going through your typical awkward stage but is so incredibly sweet. When a witch brings him over to Eden to fullfil his destiny as their champion, he has his doubts that a tall lanky "loser" like himself could possibly be their champion. Never the less he dives in diligently to his training. Aiden grows close to his fellow soldiers in training and the dynamic between him Elise, Wolf, and Logan is captivating.

Meanwhile we also seamlessly change perspectives and journey with Callum while on his quest for vengeance. After spending his life dedicated to learning by his fathers side while watching his older brother James become great at being the rake he expected his father to pass the crown to him. However on his deathbed the King named James as his successor. Callum spends the next 10 years planning his vengeance...

I know he doesn't sound all that great but Stalder does a magnificent job at giving us bread crumbs to reveal there is more to this bad boy than his quest. And when I picture Orlando Bloom in the role how can I not melt?

This is a book perfect for all ages. Venture into Eden, an exceptional world where worlds collide, tensions mount, love ensues, and war escalates.

Put Janelle Stalder on you watch list, this debut author has it all.

Review of Eden on K-Books

Wow. Eden was definitely nothing like I expected it to be. I found it a little difficult to get into at the start and wasn't quite sure what I thought of it but as I always do I kept on going. I am so glad I did as I found myself being blown away by the story. The more I read the more I fell in love with this book.

Aiden is just a normal boy with normal troubles like trying to survive high school. But then the extraordinary happens. He is transported to the magical world of Eden where there is a war brewing. Aiden must learn to fight and help Eden in order to get back home. What he doesn't count on is getting attached to the world and the people of Eden.

I really enjoyed reading this book. It is a great story and I commend Janelle on her amazing writing technique. The narration made me fall in love with all of the characters. I was really surprised how attached I became to the characters as the book is in third person narration which I usually don't like much as I feel like it is not as personal but with Janelle's superb writing this was not a problem and I loved it.
Her characters are amazing, I loved the relationships forming between Elise/Aiden/Wolf/Logan and Felix and I found myself wanting to read as fast as I could to see what happened and hope they won the war and defeated the 'bad side'. That was until we met Rose and Callum. I was very surprised when we met Rose and Callum. I never imagined that such important characters could be introduced so far into the book but Janelle did it superbly. When we first met them I found myself thinking oh, can we not just go back to seeing what's going on with Aiden and the others. And then when we did I was like But, what's happening with Callum and Rose. I just totally loved Callum, he is such a fab character and I know, I know technically he's on the bad side but he's just so sweet and I love him.

One thing I loved about this book is that you could see certain romances starting to form and seeing the relationships between the characters growing but it didn't happen too fast and the romance still isn't there at the end of the book. There are so many books out there where romances develop way too quickly and the reader is left thinking woah, how did that happen? so it is nice and refreshing to find a book where you can see the starts of relationships but where it is not rushed.

I really loved this book and I am really excited to read the next book and see what happens next. A great start to what is looking to be a promising series.

When I first starting reading this book, I had no idea of where the author was going with it. I really was not sure if I would even like it? But, I made it a third of the way in and got sucked into this alternate world created by Ms. Staldor. I quickly realized that this book was amazing and actually had a hard time putting it down.

Aiden is kind of a geek at his school. He has one friend, a girl he pines for and is pushed around by all the popular jocks. Never in his wildest dreams would he think that he would be the chosen one to help the land of Eden fight their war.

The world created by Janelle is absolutely mesmerizing and I just could not get  enough. I enjoyed all of the characters. I thought that they all meshed well together. The book was mostly from Aiden's POV, but we got POV's from others as well.

My favorite character is Callum. He is the prince that chose to leave the pallace and side with the enemy when his brother was given the throne. (I always did have a thing for the bad boys) Anyway, we get to spend a short time with him in this book and as a reader, I fell hoplessly in love with him. He is hurt and tormented with the decision that he had made. It is after he meets Rose that we get a glimpse into how wonderful and sweet he can really be.

This is how I picture Callum:

The ending was bitter sweet and left the reader with many unanswered questions about all of Aiden's friends in Eden. Ms. Stalder gives us a glimpse into Aiden's world, but leaves a good set up for the next book with a small cliff hanger.

I cannot wait to get my hands on Janelle's next book where the story continues, Eden-West.

Thanks Janelle for everything, and no pressure, but I NEED THE NEXT BOOK!

I got a copy for review in exchange for an honest review.

I really enjoyed reading this book. The plot sounded good, but the way it is writen makes it even better. This book is about Aiden a very normal boy who is bullied on school, but then he is transfered/teleported or something like that to a another world called Eden. There he makes new friends and learns he is a secret weapon in the war agiants the kings brother who feel the throne should be his. The book started a little bit slow, but when Aiden is finally in Eden it starts to get really good.
What I really love about his book is the multiple point of views. I love multiple point of views, because instead of reading an one sided story, now you get more sides then one. So the little brother of the king is not just an evil enemy, but he becomes a character in this book. You really get to know the characters and I like the fact that whenn the battle finally started I didn't want anyone to die. I have to say that in the beginning the point of view changes are a bit confusing and it takes some time to get used to it. But I really liked the fact that the author choose to show this story from more sides than one. I really think this is one of the best points of this book.
I also really liked the characters in this book. Probably in part because of the multiple point of views, you really get a sense who everyone is, who they liked and what they find important. This book is mostly a fantasy book, but it does contain many interaction between the different characters and there is some ground to suspect some romance in the next book, yes this book is the first in a series.
To conclude: I enjoyed reading this book, it started a bit slow and the changes of viewpoint are a bit confusing at first, but I really loved the use of multiple point of views and I came to like all the characters. The ending is really surpising and it makes me curious about book two, and I think it will be even better than this one.

Finishing thought: "Very weak ending. To many unresolved stuff..."

Review:
Eden took me a while to get into. I'm not a huge fan of third person POV, and at some points the story just annoyed me. I can't tell you why, cause I have no idea, but after reading a chapter it just irritated me and I had to put it down.

But after 1/3rd of the novel I got really into it. Even better: I. Loved. It!

The writhing isn't really good, the story is a bit predictable and the choices made aren't always logical/believable. BUT all the characters in the novel are amazing! I forgave Stalder for every flaw, just because the characters are unbelievable likable!

Stalder makes you fall in love with all the characters in the book. You want to get to know all of them, you want all of them to win this war and live happily ever after! Even though they're all on opposite sides...

There is no good and/or bad guy, there are just a lot of people in a war, seeing the world from a different perspective. It's amazing how you can root for every one of them, even though they're all so different.

My fave characters are: Rose, Callum and Logan.

I'm definitely going to read the sequel, I want to know what happens next. The ending left to many endings open...

Thank you R2R and the author for allowing me to read this book for a review! sigh :) I knew it was going to have one of those crazy endings, but I was NOT seeing that one... I don't know, something about a typical, insecure, scared teenage boy becoming a man is just awesome! The writing in this book is FANTASTIC! I know it says Eden#1 as in maybe more to come, & I serious HOPE there's more! PLEASE!!!

Let's start with Aiden... I actually really like him. He's so worried about so many things, yet he steps up to the plate for people he's come to care about! and seriously, who doesn't wanna hang out with a HOT chick, who just happens to be the Army leaders daughter :)

Elisa is straight up the coolest chick ever! I wanna be her, really! She's gorgeous, she's talented, she's seriously skilled with a bow & arrow, and she's just cool! I think she might be my favorite character!

Also, there are some fantastic supporting characters that are just awesome, but I will not spoil that for you. You even get a few clips from other's POV, and that's what gives this book a whole different edge. You see things from other sides :)

All in all, there's nothing bad for me to say, except-hurry and gimme more, now! :) 5 PAWS from me!!

Our MC Aiden is your everyday normal, run-of-the mill, 15 year old kid. Or so he thinks. He gets suspended from school for three days for punching the boyfriend of the girl he's crushing on, for calling her a bitch under his breath. I like this kid already....

During his three days of suspension his mom has him doing chores and helping around the house. On the night before he is to return to school, he sees a bright light in the back yard and goes out to investigate it. He finds a beautiful blonde woman and is transported to another world, Eden, parallel to ours.

While in Eden, Aiden will become one of The King's Army. He will make friends and fight with Wolf, Logan, and Felix. He will make friends, fight and loose his heart to Elisa.

I really, really liked this story. I loved how the nerd got to become the hero and all of his attributes were able to shine through. This is a great story in my opinion for all ages and both males and females. And thankfully, there will be a #2. Otherwise Janelle would have some 'splaining to do.

Eden is the first book in the Eden series by Janelle Stalder. I read this as part of a R2R with Paranormal Romance & Urban Fantasy Fanatics! A huge thank you to the moderators of this group as well as to the author for allowing me to participate.

This book starts with a prologue and introduces the conflict going on in Eden for which the book's meat of the story takes place. I loved that Aiden, who is fifteen and bullied at school, finds himself called from his world to the magical world of Eden to fulfill his purpose to help save Eden from the war being waged there. As he leaves his mundane life behind, he finds new friends, a new purpose and a new confidence he never expected. And to add to that, he finds a love and friendships that he will never forget!

This book was a really great read. I liked it a lot. The story was very well written and the characters were interesting and likable. I felt myself immersed in the happenings of Eden and just couldn't be forced to put it down until I had it read. I loved the relationships that developed between Aiden and Elise, Logan, Felix and Wolf. And though they came much later in the story, I was very intrigued with Rose and Callum. I was just impressed with how well they were written. I loved the friendships, the romance and the conflict. Well done!

I will admit the beginning, after the prologue, was a bit slow. It was a bit daunting to be thrown from horse's and knights to modern day vehicles and school. But once I got into it, I was hooked.

I think this was an excellent start to what I believe will be an amazing series. Im looking forward to seeing what happens next in book two!

This book was so good I don't know where to begin. I don't know if I should start with all the action or the romance.Ok now that I have calmed down let me say I loved this book.We start out this story by meeting Aiden who is your normal picked on teenager. We soon learn he is destined for mch greater things. I loved seeing Aiden grow into his own and learn to stand up for himself. Aiden's travels take him to Eden. Eden sounds like such an amazing place. Once in Eden we are in for a treat with all the wonderful characters we meet. We are given a look at Wolf and Elsa's budding relationship. I tend to love love hate relationships and their's was one of my favorites. I loved the verbal wordplay between them and how they keep fighting the obvious chemistry between them. The sparks will fly once they give into each other. Elsa is such an awe inspiring heroine. I love that she can hold her own with the boys and still manage to be such a beauty. I also liked Logan and his loyalty to his friends. He was a great addition to the story. My heart goes out to Jameson as I can tell his heart is breaking with his love for Diana. I also can't wait to see what blossoms between Rose and Callum. I loved them together and can't wait for more of them. Overall this was a great book and I can't wait to see this story continued.

I received this book to review from the Read 2 Review program ran by Paranormal Romance & Urban Fantasy Fanatics.

I really liked the world Janelle has created with Eden. She is a very talented writer.

It is written in third person which sometimes takes away from the story for me but this was not the case with Eden. I still felt for each of the characters and we were still able to somewhat see what they are feeling.

My favorite characters were Callum and Rose. Even though they were introduced late into the story and not featured as much as the others, I fell in love. Rose is so strong and likable and even though Callum is supposedly the "bad guy" my heart went out to him. I loved the tension Janelle creates between him and Rose. I am hoping to see more of these guys in the future books.

If you like magical creatures, epic adventures, and a unique fantasy world then I highly recommend you give Eden a try.

was it just a dream? no time has passed but everything that's happened to Aiden seems all too real.
This book is most def going into my favs. I loved everything about it, the characters, the good guys and the bad, the concept of the story and everything about the world of Eden.
I have to say this had a feel of the Narnia books but without the coat closet.
I cant wait to find out if Aiden can go back to Eden and I want to know what becomes of Aiden, Elisa, Wolf, Logan, Callum, Rose, the King and Diana, Turk, and really the rest of the characters within this amazing book!

WOW JUST WOW!!! LOVED IT!!!!!

I just finished this book and I am SO pleased with it! It didn't have my usual paranormal aspects that typically draw me to a book (besides the witch who plays a small role) but I read it anyway and I am so glad I did.

We follow the story of Aiden, a 15 year old boy who gets sucked from his world into another world called Eden to save the land of Eden on the brink of war. Without giving too much away I'm just going to say that this book really was great and it leaves off in a semi cliffhanger, so I sure hope there is a second installment to follow :)

:O - okay also this is a warning, sort of...thing...I was given this LOVELY, FANTASTIC book by the author in sort of exchange for an honest review...long story short, i am going to be honest because that is how it works. And that is how i do. so yeah

Song Choice: Oh this one is a toughie, "I Will Never Forget You" cover by Birdy, "Into the Ocean" by Blue October for Aiden, "Your Hand In Mine" by Explosions in the Sky. (look i will probably come back to the song choice as it is 2 oclock in the morning and i am just trying not to wake everyone in my house

First thoughts: Sometimes it’s hard for us as readers to remember something very key. That the villains we so hate, are in fact human. (for the most part unless you are reading paranormal, or whatever okay I get it there are cases when they aren’t PHYSCIALLY HUMAN) anyways we forget that they are people, that there is more to them than the evil we see. This is not my first Janelle Stalder book, and it will not be my last, for the simple fact that she makes the world shades ….oh god… of grey. DON’T EVEN. Don’t go there. Seriously don’t. nothing is as black and white as we want them to be and nothing is as simple as we want them to be. Sometimes the bad guy is someone who truly believes they are doing good, and they are good person with a good soul, making bad decisions. Because even villains can love, unconditionally, and fully. So for this simple fact, you should read this.

Thoughts on Plot: When I went into this book originally I hadn't known too much about it, but after the first chapter I went back and read the summary. I have this new found love for books have seem to have been doing this a lot more lately, its been done before yeah sure but i haven't come across it often. its when our world, meets fantasy world. Now this book started off with a different type of hero, with a different idea in mind, in my opinion. I will get to that in a moment, this is a fantasy and everything is happening, wars a-brewing, teenagers who don't act like teenagers and i just took it as they were mid-20s as it was falling in love, different people's stories being told, and all this-ness. I LOVED IT. in no way was it chaotic or confusing, it was magnificent! About half way we get a totally new POV AND OMGOSH I CANNOT WAIT TO TALK ABOUT ROSE I LOVED HER! (i will also explain why i probably had such a draw to her) anyways! this book wasn't about only who will win the war, who should win the war, but in the end it was about believing in yourself against all odds, the strength that we find within ourselves. :D!!! I am in love IN LOVE with Janelle's style of writing. There was a lot that happened in this book and i don't want to go into details because of spoilers but i will say this, it moved expectantly fast, and it was like i said no way confusing or overwhelming. Addicting yes, interesting, yup!

Characters!

(OH I AM SO SO SO SO SO VERY EXCITED ABOUT THIS. not only does Janelle have exceptional plot, and writing style - which she does - but her characters, OH HER CHARACTERS!)

Aiden: Poor Aiden when we first meet him i couldn't but help thinking how can your day get worse?! He is very endearing and I loved him. He wasn't the typical male lead, he wasn't the over-confident, stubborn, moody, mysterious man. And i don't know about you but sometimes going into a book knowing that the first MC you encounter or the story is told entirely in his pov scares you off but i tend to go with them with caution, why? because the plain, ugly truth boils down to: am i going to be able to relate enough to this character, and want to be in their position, i live vicariously through the characters yup i said it. so anyways! I was pleasantly surprised with Aiden i related to him very well, i enjoyed his mannerism and i loved him. While most guys - and yeah i am going to stereotype right now and be a bit sexist get over it - would probably find how freaked out they were, and try to be all super badass about and be like yeah whatever (says in gruff voice) this is a 15 year old boy thrown into a whole new world to be the "savior" of sorts, of course he is scared shitless, but he doesn't became a baby, he takes it in stride but he remains realistic. He god i loved him, i really did. He tries so hard, and he becomes friends with these people he wants to protect them, and I truly do think that he is an amazing character. :D

Elise: She is badass of her own accord. She is the unlikely girl in a fantasy book (well not really unlikely in the sense we have this one girl in each fantast book ;) not that it is a bad thing because its not) She is a master archer, and she works hard for everything that she gets. She is so strong but still sensitive. With her its hard to tell sometimes with her emotions on how she feels which seems odd to me because of Aiden being so open, but i really like the shake up here with the gender-roles being messed with, all those lovely shades of grey.

Wolf: He is a sweet guy, but he is also the normal male MC we expect and i cannot wait to see more from his shirtless, horseman! (also i would love to compliment Janelle's either well experienced or researched experiences with horses - i own four and i can say that everything Janelle mentions about horses - truth...only i have yet to meet a horse as eager as Ty to ride... but i do know Grumpy, only he is not as bitey just likes to run away from me...ANYWAYS GETTING DISTRACTED AGAIN)

ROSE: i loved Rose! i loved her i loved her i loved her! i loved her story line, i loved her character! and you stupid girl i think i might hit you! I understand the position she was in made things difficult for her. But i loved how she handled herself and how she remained sassy and brave, and so very courageous :D oh Rose!!! there is so much i loved about her that i cannot say too much about her unfortunately.

The "villains": as i mentioned before in first thoughts they are not what you will expect and you will be wondering how you should react. oh Janelle i love you for this simple fact right here!

The ending....well strange. i am SUPER DUPER excited to start the next one that is for sure!

Aidan is 15 years old and I guess you could call him a bit of a geek. He is unpopular at school and gets picked on by the popular kids. He is tall and thin and not a fighter.

One night, he is awoken by a bright light in his garden. When he goes to investigate, he is whisked away to Eden, another dimension, by Diana, who is a witch. She tells him he is to be a great warrior who will help them to win the war against the North.

He is helped along the way by Elisa, the daughter of the captain of the army. Wolfe and Logan who are in their last year of training before they are fully fledged members of the Kings army.

This book wasn't really holding my interest and I sometimes found myself skimming. I honestly wanted to stop but I always try to go to about 50% before I give up, just to be fair. And because sometimes a book that's slow to start can become a firm favourite.

At about 48% there was a turnaround, with the introduction of Callum and Rose. I was a lot more interested in their story and was disappointed when it would return to Aidan and his friends. Unfortunately, their story just couldn't hold my attention and I wouldn't have finished this book if not for Callum and Rose. I was really interested in how things were going to work out between them, especially considering how they met.

Besides the fact that this was a story that just wasn't for me, there was very little to fault it on. It was well written and there is no doubt that Janelle Stalder is an extremely talented author. Her world building and character descriptions could not be faulted and she wrote through the eyes of a 15 year old boy expertly. I was immediately taken with all of the characters and found them all interesting in themselves, I just couldn't seem to build a lot of interest around the story. I also really liked Wolf, although at the start it seemed like I wouldn't.

There was no actual romance in this book, more so the lead up to it. Where you know its going to come, you just don't know when and that's something I love.

This book rounded up nicely in the end but I was saddened by the fact that we didn't revisit Callum and Rose just one more time. And I will probably only read the next book in the series if I know they will be in it.

If I had to find fault with this book, it would probably be the multiple POV's but then I totally enjoyed that we got to see Callum and Rose's POV too so that is kind of contradictory.

I will be interested in seeing reviews for Eden-West and if Callum and Rose are there, I will definitely be heading back to Eden to visit them.

(Book provided by the author through Read It & Reap 144 in the Shut Up & Read group, in exchange for an honest review.)

Overall an entertaining book, with a world that seems interesting, and characters who have potential. However, there were several things I couldn't really come to terms with.

Among its strong points lies the fact that most of the characters aren't all black or white. The "bad ones" are able to show proper behaviour, and because they want to seize a kingdom doesn't make them complete louts, in spite of their reputation. The "good ones" aren't all perfect either—some are womanizers, can't express their feelings, or are too proud to lay down their arms (manner of speaking). It paves the way for interesting relationships. The author took into account the training part of her hero, who doesn't happen to already know everything there is to know as soon as he appears in Eden. As for the world itself, it seems to have potential too.

On the other hand, I regularly felt that this very potential wasn't realised—which is too bad. For instance, a lot of time was devoted to training, but it would've been more believable if it had spanned over a few months, instead of a few days only. Some things were also cut short, or not explained enough. Rose seemed to be here mainly to highlight Callum, more than to create tension regarding her fate and that of her brother's. I didn't really understand the logics behind a couple of plot points:

Part of me liked the book, and kept on reading to know what would happen. Yet another part always wondered why some things weren't explained, or seemed to be interrupted. Perhaps the next book will bring answers, but in the meantime, it's quite frustrating; I could've done with a few pointers as to what might happen, so that I may form my own hypotheses in the meantime.

Consider this a 2.5 stars. This book isn't bad, far from it, and will please some readers. I just think it left too many things unanswered, and moved too fast (in terms of time frame, not of chapter length) for some elements to be fully believable.

Wow! What a start to a writing career! Janelle Stalder is going to really surprise a lot of people with her debut novel. It's not perfect, but it has a whole lot going for it. It's well-copyedited with a plot that keeps you interested the whole way through and an ending that has you itching for more.

What I liked:

The plot- Janelle has created a marvelous world with interesting, likeable characters, strange beasts, and plenty of chaos.

The POV- the book is written in 3rd-person past, which is perfect for the fantasy genre, which allows the reader to explore all aspects of the world through various characters' perspectives.

The ending- OMG what an ending! Other than a few gripes I have with the battle, the ending was perfectly planned and executed. Well done!

The prologue- I know it's short and a small thing, but I LOVED the prologue. It was really, really strong and will definitely entice a lot of people to read on. I was almost disappointed when the first chapter started and it wasn't a continuation of the prologue. There is potential for a prequel for sure!

The narrative- I felt the narrative was quite strong and enjoyed learning about the world and the setting. I would have actually enjoyed even a little more history about the world.

What I thought could have been done better:

Emotion- Although 3rd person past was the right POV for the book, it's very challenging to bring out emotion. I didn't really feel it from any of the characters, even when dark events occurred. There was a little too much smiling, laughing, and chuckling considering the plot.

Where's the villain? I also didn't have anyone to cheer against, which somewhat hurt the plot for me. Janelle attempted (and sort of succeeded) in making every character likeable, even the ones who I thought should be hated.

Training, training, and more training- there was A LOT of "training" in this book. I understand that the MC needed to get up to scratch on being a warrior, but it grew quite tiresome and I wanted to move past it to the good stuff. And in the end I still didn't feel like he was ready for the big battle.

Dialogue- I have to admit, I struggled quite a lot with the dialogue. It felt stiff and quite juvenile, making me think I was reading about younger characters in a middle-grade book.

All in all, this was a fast, enjoyable read that had me wondering where the author will take us next! Those who enjoyed The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe might find this read right up their alley.

Genre: Young Adult Fantasy
Publisher Type: Indie Author

My Review:
What an exhilarating and engrossing story!!! A mix of Narnia and Game of Thrones, This is a smart, absorbing book you really must read. I was surprised by how much I enjoyed this book. I expected to like it, but I loved it!!!

I'll admit through the first few chapters I wasn't sure how much I'd like this book. Yes, the prologue was intriguing and immediately introduced the conflict in Eden and the first chapter introduces a very likable Aiden and his frustrating reality. But I was concerned with the palpable risk of hokeyness when a plot involves a reality-based protagonist entering into a fantasy-based environment. Also, the author's way of describing things was somewhat off for me, especially in the first portion of the book. She's very straightforward in her descriptions and sometimes it feels forced. Despite my reservations starting out, the A-M-A-Z-I-N-G story more than makes up for the minor description flaws and, as it turns out, the hokey factor was very minimal.

I loved the characters. Not one of them was flat. No one was a simple filler character. I savored the array of relationships from Turk & the High King to Wolf & Elisa to Rose & Callum. Protagonists were not simple bad guys. I enjoyed reading of Callum, Brutus the Red and their motivations. The story of Rose & Callum was my favorite. With all the various stories, this is hardly just "young adult," but an "everybody" fantasy novel.

The ending did feel a little rushed, but I still liked it. I appreciated the twist that while not everything was wrapped up, we are given enough information to see where things are leading for each of the characters. I however will miss these characters and would love to have spent more time with them. Perhaps the author will write short stories telling more of what happens to the people of Eden and of Aiden after he returns to his regular life. Please, please, please --with sugar on top of it-- Janelle, please write more for me!

So, overall, a story I'm so glad I didn't miss out on. A very satisfying read!!! I still want more!

Cover Art:
I'm torn on this cover. On one hand, it's a well done cover with stone-like texture and perfect typeface. The simple bow graphic reflects the importance bows and arrows play in this story. The drawback is that it's not a cover that compels me to buy the book.

First of all a big thank you to the author for allowing me to read & review this book.

What a breath of fresh air. In a genre currently saturated with vampires, werewolves etc it was nice to get something a bit different.
I love a good medieval based Fantasy novel & this is what I got with a bit of a twist seen as our main character is transported form our world to Eden. So you still get a little of the highschool element mixed in with the fantasy world of Eden.
I would compare it to the likes of Maria V. Snyder's Poison series or Kristin Cashore's Kingdom series, it has that kind of a flavor to it.

The major difference between those other authors and Ms Stalder is the POV's. I don't think I've ever read a book before where the POV moves around between characters so much. I really shouldn't have been able to connect with the characters as much as I did, but somehow, once I got used to it (it did take a little bit of time for this) I was completely won over.
Even though we only got glimpse's into each character, we were inside their heads for a time & truly got to know them, their strength's & weakness's, what drives them to do what they are doing, how they were feeling about a given situation. And it also meant you were always right in the middle of the action at all times.

My only question really is this...Why Aiden, what was so special about him? It was the only part of the story that I felt a bit confused about. But other than that I loved it & look forward to Eden-West to carry on this tale & find out what happened to literally everybody cause I loved them all that much :)

Thanks to the author for providing the book for free for an honest review.

This has been a nice, magical experience.

With fantasy genre, you may love or hate it depending on how the author create this another world with creatures and supernatural powers. Many fantasies create these stories with mythology (mostly Greek), witchcraft, monsters, fairies and even time travel. However, there are also some books which mix adventure and real life together, creating two plots as it develops the protagonist's life on earth and his hidden journey in another world.

That's where we meet Aiden, our 15-year-old hero who happened to just move to a small village with his parents and baby sister to attend and continue high school. He's not ugly yet he's also not the attractive type and since he's new, high school remains as challenging from being bullied, getting late, and skipping classes. Good thing though, he has Ethan who can defend him and keep him company from time to time. Not long when Aiden thought it's better to just sleep-in at home and enjoy his privacy in his attic room when one day, he woke up from a dream and someone summoned him to save the land of Eden.

I liked the development of Aiden's character and how the people of Eden blend together with him. The training is intense, the story revolves around training most of the time yet the pacing gets in the right speed as it approaches the upcoming war. I easily felt the surroundings around the Capital.

Aside from Aiden's POV, I liked that we also get a glimpse of other POV involving the other armies from the nearby lands. This showed the image of the supposedly villains and how they're planning to attack the King's men. Unfortunately, there's no exact villainous character. As I get to know the other side and their view on the Mountain People, it felt like there's no villain, which was the downside. There's also not much climax in the story as there was no peak of suspense and conflict at all while the war also happened near the ending. Good thing the POV and narrative was enjoying, not to mention the added romance from before and after between the other leading characters. It showed a slight cliffhanger so I hope to see more of these in the next installments.

Definitely, this is still a great start for a debut fantasy novel and I commend Stalder for that. A fast, enjoyable read indeed. I recommend this to fantasy fanatics!

*i received this book for a honest review from Paranormal Romance & Urban Fantasy Fanatics! (Read 2 Review)

You had me at the title. Come on! Eden? E-D-E-N? You know, the garden of Eden? Adam and Eve? Ringing no bells?

The story is set in two different worlds. One, planet Earth, where we live with boring lives. However, when Aden is needed he enters world number two-the world of magic and warriors (which sounds more interesting than world number one.)

Janelle's writing is bewitching. Every time, you read it, it sucks you in and you can't get out of its spell.

The main character, Aiden, is a normal boy, he's normal and bullied at school. Let's just say he's not popular at school. Eden (world number two), the king has just died and now the oldest son, Jameson, rules the capitol and parts of Eden. However, when the high king-Jameson's dad-gave the crown to Jameson his younger brother, Callum, became angry and went to the "bad side". Now, ten years later, Eden needs a hero and Aden is the one, but how can he save Eden when he doesn't even know how to ride a horse or pick up a sword?

God, there are so many character in this book! Adien, the main character is a average guy. Elisa, daughter of the captain of the kings men; she's feisty and kicks ass with her bow and arrow. Wolf, and no he's not a wolf (that's what i thought he was for the first time) is the best of the kings men; a womaniser and he likes Elisa. Logan (doesn't that sound like Logan from X-Men), he's best mate of Wolf; he's great at running and the best with axes. see i told you there are so many character! However, Janelle makes it, somehow, easy to remember each and every character. Janelle uses different characters to show many perspectives on the story and again she doesn't make your head go crazy.

My favourite characters are Callum and Rose, even though they were introduced later in the story. I think they are really cute together, bit i keep on feeling sorry for them because of the circumstances Callum is in.

When i also read Eden it reminds me of Narnia. Just minus the wardrobe, lion, ice queen...ok, ok, it's not like Narnia but it still feels like it. (I thought i had to say that.)

Eden, is a great book if you need a break from all the paranormal and romance books, then read this book!

In “Eden,” we follow Aiden, a young man in high school who can’t seem to make in through high school one day without something going wrong. He’s not popular, is new, has a crush on one of the prettiest girls in his school who sometimes acts like she likes him back but then again, he isn’t sure, and he finds an enemy who won’t let him make it through one day without starting a fight with him in some form.

One night, Aiden is pulled out of his sleep by a bright light and chanting in his backyard. He runs down to see what is going on and is pulled into a new world, Eden. There he’s told that he’s the brave warrior who will lead their King’s army to victory. He quickly denies it, admitting that he isn’t a warrior at all.

Aiden meets Elisa, one of the most beautiful girls he’s ever laid eyes upon. He then meets Wolf, Logan, and Felix. Unlikely people quickly become his good friends.

In Eden, he learns how to fight for the High King’s army and takes place in a battle that he will never forget. He grows and learns things about himself that he couldn’t fathom. He is a new person.

The author pulls us into the world, and by the time the book is over, we want to go back. Go back to Eden and relive the experiences again.

There are times when the dialogue and parts of the story feel forced, and the beginning feels a bit slow. But rest assured the book is great. Once you find yourself living vicariously through these characters’ lives, you don’t want to leave.

I can honestly say that this debut novel is worth a read, and I can easily recommend it to YA readers and fantasy readers alike. I expect great things from this author.

Stalder wrote Eden in a way that it became the perfect blend of Medieval, Magical and Modern. Her characters are so rich in texture and description that you can easily visualize them and the settings around them. The main character Aiden is your normal wallflower type, the kid that is easily targeted by the bully as being vulnerable. As you journey with Aiden into Eden , you get to witness his growth in strength and confidence . Stalder packed her book with a nice variety of characters . The warrior and the sidekick , the beauty and the geek , even the loveable friend, this book contains a little bit of everything. In Eden you get a chance to witness personal growth of a less than confident boy, the love and hate relationship between brothers , and even the complications of betrothal and love. In this book Stalder did a wonderful job of keeping me entertained and drawn into the story so much so that I can hardly wait to get my hands on book two Eden- West. I would give this book 5 stars and highly recommend it . I suppose if I have to complain about something it would be that the book left me on the edge of my seat and I now have to wait patiently for book two . Did I mention patience is not one of my virtues? : )

I honestly loved this book, I would rate this book as 4.5/5.
I was hooked from the very first page and the story did not sag throughout the book.
There was always something that happens that makes you want to keep reading.
I fell in love with the characters themselves.

When Rose came into the story I was quite surprised, I did not expect to be introduced to a new major character that far into the book. But that offered a view from the other side of the war which I really enjoyed seeing instead of just being about one side.

I was like on a roller coaster while reading this book, a ride I did not want to end. Each new twist or turn in the story added more interest and desire to keep reading. I was having laughing fits at some points of the book and at others close to tears.

I really enjoyed this book, highly recommend this book to people who enjoy fantasy or even adventure.

I won this book in a competition here on goodreads and I'm so glad I did. I loved the story and the writing style. I finished it desperate for more and was really happen when I read it was book 1 of a planned series :D

It reminded me of Tamora Pierce's Tortall series and Marianne Curley's novel Old Magic, so if you enjoyed either of those you'll like this a lot. Brilliant characters and complex relationships which conjure so many questions.

Eden took a bit for me to get into, with the switching of universes I was left a bit bewildered, but as soon as the two worlds collided i got into it a bit more. The switching of characters POVs made it difficult to follow at times, I am admittably not a fan of that style, but I kept reading.

By the end, i was hooked. And I need to know what happened back with Elisa in the war and what will become of the other characters.

I gave it a 4 out of 5 and i can not wait until the next book!

First I want to start off by saying that this is not normally the genre that I read, but (and this is a big BUT) I am SO glad that I did! Eden was fantastic! I was hooked from the very begnining and could not (and would not) put it down! I can not wait for the next in the series. Janelle Stalder has opened a whole new world of fiction up to me! AMAZING!!!!
