This book was harder to read than I expected. Partly it was because I don't have a lot of free time for reading. But it was also because the book is more of a reference book than anything else. The writing about the songs was rather dry and academic, and the songs themselves are better absorbed (naturally) by listening to someone sing them than by reading them off a page. Still, I did find a lot of interesting details and tidbits of information. The book would be ideal for someone studying ethnomusicology, folk music, or someone who sings a lot in that style.
