That...was...EPIC!!! I am really loving this series. I can't mention much about this series without spoilers so I'll just say this. There is never a dull moment, and halfway through the book I got goosebumps. It's been a long time since I've read a manga or graphic novel that did that to me. Honestly when I was finished with Volume 2, I immediately wanted to read Volume 3, but I forced myself to wait until after I wrote this review. It's been an excruciating few days. So Volume 3, here I come! I have been eagerly awaiting our rendezvous.

The characters are expanded upon and the action is amped up to an incredible degree
How could a corpse say anything? - Strong Stalin vibes from Mikasa

This world is cruel
Say that again, what even is Mikasa her backstory in terms of gruesomeness involving children: it is one of the most intense scenes I’ve read. In general I really start to like her, the This is no time to be getting sentimental moment makes me understand why people would follow her in battle.

The strong eat the weak: because of survivor’s guilt Armin his strategical talent is less convincing for me in this volume, but let’s see how he develops.

This cargo is worth more than all of your wretched lives combined! was a arc where human nature is really commented upon: what society are the kids even fighting for the author seems to imply.

Followed by a suicide, this doesn’t let up in the full blown horror department.

Eren in my mind ends up as a pilot of a kind of mecha, but then a non-mechanised rendition?

So many questions!

Okay this one was better than vol 1 yet the art is still bad. I just think the anime is better even for this volume. But I'm quite enjoying it so far! I'll probably catch up with the manga sooner than I expected to since all the chapters are action packed and fun even if I already know what will happen (until season 1 final and another spoiler i accidentally saw :/)

“I'm sorry Eren. . . I can't. . . Give up. If I die now. . . I won't even be able to remember you. So no matter what. . . I'm going to win! Whatever I have to do, I'm going to live!!”

I love this with a passion.

El despliegue de sorpresas que hay en este tomo es buenísimo.
Poco a poco voy entendiendo como funciona el mundo o lo poco que hay para estas personas encerradas tras las murallas.

Liked it a lot better than the first volume, but a lot of background information was lacking compared to the anime.

Maybe the information they included in the anime episodes comes up in latter volumes. Still, I found the humour fun and I could definitely see the scenes moving in my head.

This series is beyond amazing. I liked this volume even better than the first one. Amazing characters, great plot and brilliant art style.

Can't wait to read the third one (hopefully they'll translate vol 3 in my country soon, 'cause I really hate waiting).

Now comes the action, action, strife, and more action. And don't forget the big reveal!

Neon Genesis Evangelion flashbacks, anyone? This is the volume where it gets good. :)

Yoooo what the fuck just happened?!? I need answers immediately. Everything I thought to be true was so wrong and I knew that as soon as I saw this “abnormal” titan. The ending was absolutely mind blowing. I cannot wait to dive into the next one.

Great action. Solid message: sometimes you have to fight to survive. No matter how lost the situation appears, there’s nothing to be gained from giving up.

I like the concept of titans and walls they've built to keep the hierarchy safe. Also the main character's backstory is really fcking sad. Can't blame him for much tbh.

But it is hard to follow the action scenes. They're just swooshes. You can't tell who is who or who's winning. I find that takes a lot away from the story.

Every book is ending with a cliffhanger. And, boy, I could not be happier. The background story, the hows and the whys are getting answered one after the other.

2nd reading: still feeling about the same as I originally did.

~

Original review:
Well ... I was sort of right with my guess in the spoiler of my review of the first book.

Still not loving the story all that much but found myself starting the third volume immediately after I finished this, against my better judgment. For some reason this book seemed a lot shorter, though maybe there were just more action scenes and less talking and set-up so it made it go by quicker.

I've heard from countless people that the anime is prettier, so if you're not feeling this maybe give that a try instead. I like to read in the dark in bed at night and I can't watch anime that way, so I'm sticking with the manga for now.

I think that perhaps the main draw of this series is the whole "wtf is really going on?!" aspect, because that's pretty much what made me open up the third volume as soon as I was done with this one. We'll see if that feeling continues or if once I find out what's behind everything I end up tossing it aside.

Much stronger than volume 1 in my opinion, I thoroughly enjoyed this one. All three of the main characters were fleshed out more and some of the side characters got fleshed out a little more too. The action sequences were a lot more engaging in this one and some interesting new lore elements were introduced. I also thought it had a pretty good representation of PTSD/the affects of combat, particularly in the first chapter.

This was a nice refresher for me of the anime. The anime is a near perfect replica of the manga, which isn't a bad thing, but it does mean that I didn't learn anything new about the story from reading this volume. I love this series because not only are post apocalyptic stories my jam, but this series has some of the best characters of all time who all have very distinct personalities and they all have interesting story arcs. I would highly recommend this manga series to anyone who is interested in getting into manga.

This book was better than the first only because of my favorite titan being revealed. Also, the illustrations are amazing! Obviously.

This is more of a 4 star read as I found there was a lot of info-dump in the beginning. But aside that, I loved this and what the hell was that ending?! My reading plans for this month are definitely going to hell now. let's see how many volumes of this I'll end up reading this month
