Pretty Fly For A White Guy, A BWWM Interracial Romance! He is cute. He is sexy. He is confident. He is charming.
He is Kenneth, a white man and the love of Nicole's life.
However, it has been over a year since they were together officially and all signs are suggesting it is over for good between them. The fact he is now dating her ex-best friend is just the tip of the iceberg.
Can she ever get over him and find happiness with someone else? Or should she fight for the man she believes she is meant to be with? Warning: This story does contain scenes of a sexual nature and is the type of book your mama will have warned you about. This black woman & white man interracial romance is a 35,000 word novella.
That was too much for me the back and forth with Kenneth sucks I thought she was better off with Joshua...I guess she rather be Kenneth door mat instead, I don't think I have patience to read the next high school drama sorry not for me
I really enjoyed this book, but I couldn't give it 5 stars because of its characters. Kenneth is a grade A manipulator and asshole and I didn't like that his behavior was rewarded at the end. Nicole is a strong woman but really weak when it came to Kenneth. She even cheated on her boyfriend with him, which was very disrespectful, especially since she's been accusing Kenneth to do the same, so she should not inflict the same fate on others. I felt Joshua didn't stand a chance and his jealousy had grounds (even if a little over the top). And in the end, let Kenneth break the news to him? Girl, you're the one dating him, your new boyfriend shouldn't have to break up with your man. I really liked Patrice, she seemed to be the only one with common sense, and the book centered on her character was really good so there's that.

To be honest this book didn't get good until the last chapter and epilogue. You have Nikki who broke up with Kenneth a year ago. Then she finds out that he's dating her former ex-friend so what does she do? She accepts a date from Kenneth's best friend who just so happened to have had a crush on her this entire time. Now you have these two starting a relationship but the whole time she really wants Kenneth. Long story short, she was messing with Joshua as a rebound while waiting on Kenneth. The story was so drawn out after chapter one all I wanted was the end. Even with it I doubt I'd read the next one because this was just too bland to find out what happens next.
I hate cliffhangers. I don't know why anyone would think that would be enjoyable reading. It is all a scam. I make sure to keep a log of authors who write them so I never buy any more of their work. There are plenty of short stories out there that I buy and enjoy, that has a beginning, a middle and an end. Why would I put up with this. I don't even want it for free.
Quick read. Nicole need to leave Kenneth alone. Now I admit Joshua doesn't seem like her guy, but neither in Kenneth. I guess the tough battles of interracial relationships are real, but after seeing how little her partner respects her I think she should've ran for the heels. I guess of the sex if bomb enough, it's ok to forget a little hurt. Joshua's always going to be a casualty in that war of love. I love how her girls kept it real with her every step... but I wonder what happened back in Atlanta? I'll complete the set eventually to find out.
The book was a page turner. For me, the heroine was a completely clueless person. Not only did she not know herself, but she was gullible as well. I'm not a fan of ignorant women and that's how I saw her.
Story line is confusing and the details conflicting. It was ok in some areas but gosh I can’t be around a man like Joshua clingy and MASSIVE ISSUES. The weird part is she shouldn’t be spitting in the air with gravity of saliva falling back on her face.
🥃 Book Review: Pretty Fly for a White Guy #1 By The Bourbon Sipping Bibliophile Rating: ⭐⭐⭐ (3/5) Vibe: Messy Romance • Toxic Temptation • High Heat • Peak Shenanigans Genre: BWWM Interracial Romance, Contemporary Novella
🥃 The Pour: Heartbreak, Chaos, and a Double Shot of Bad Decisions Let me tell you right now—Pretty Fly for a White Guy #1 is not a quiet, reflective “let me heal and journal my feelings” kind of breakup book. Oh no.
This novella is a full-contact emotional sport, where heartbreak meets high heat, and common sense gets KO’d in round one.
Nicole wants to move on. Nicole tries to move on. But Nicole is also caught in a gravitational pull so strong that NASA should study her situationship with Kenneth.
Kenneth—fine, toxic, unavailable, and dating her ex–best friend—comes barreling into her life with the confidence of a man who has no business feeling that bold. Meanwhile, sweet Joshua is standing there, offering peace, affection, and sanity—three things Nicole simply does not have the bandwidth to receive.
What unfolds is a novella’s worth of emotional whiplash, relationship chaos, and enough bad decisions to fill a reality TV season.
And honestly? It’s entertaining as hell.
🥃 What Went Down Smooth (The Entertainment Factor) 🥃 The Spice Hits When this book gets hot, it gets hot. Steam level? High. Regret level? Also high. But that’s the fun.
🥃 Beautiful, Glorious Drama If you love watching a character crash headfirst into the same mistake wearing a blindfold and heels? This is your jam.
Nicole’s life is a mess, but it’s a deliciously bingeable mess. 🥃 Patrice, Patron Saint of Sense
Patrice deserves her own book, her own spinoff, her own reality show—something. She brings clarity, comedy, and the exact “girl, PLEASE” energy Nicole desperately needs.
🥃 The Notes That Needed More Aging (Constructive Critique) 🥃 The Toxic Cycle Needed More Layers
Nicole and Kenneth’s push-pull is entertaining, but the story spends so much time in that loop that emotional complexity gets replaced with repetition. I wanted a little more depth to why Nicole keeps diving back in.
🥃 Joshua Needed a Better Exit Plan This sweet man was set up like a trap made of kindness and cuddles, only to be tossed aside. Watching Nicole mirror the very betrayal she’s recovering from? Oof. That hits the bourbon a little sharp.
🥃 The Cliffhanger Chooses Violence Ending on maximum chaos without even a small cooldown sip? Bold. Audacious. Slightly rude. But I’ll admit—it did make me reach for book two immediately.
🥃 Final Sip Pretty Fly for a White Guy #1 is a quick, steamy, wildly messy novella that asks one question:
What if your heart’s worst decision is also your biggest temptation?
Nicole is stubborn, chaotic, and allergic to good advice—but her journey is addictive, dramatic, and soaked in heat.
If you enjoy: ✨ toxic-but-entertaining romance ✨ rebound disasters ✨ friends yelling “DON’T DO IT” into the void ✨ messy protagonists who need therapy and holy water
…then this novella will scratch that itch.
Grab your bourbon, grab your popcorn, and brace yourself. Nicole is going to make every wrong choice—and you’re going to enjoy every page watching her do it.
The story explained the teeming struggle for control with her emotions; however, the plot remained spotty yet had potential. It is obvious that the writer is very talent however there is something lacking. The love triangles got to be ridiculous at times and I just felt like Kenneth and Nicole went through a lot of unnecessary drama to arrive at a happy place. Kenneth is a man-whore who didn't respect Nicole enough to stay away from her best friend. Nicole was naive and had little self-esteem and confidence of herself. She allowed Kenneth to do crazy stuff without having the guts to assert herself, and seemed that other people were involved. The supporting character was not developed well and immature and they were in an incestuous friend group. She allowed her friend to constantly give contradictory advice to fuel Nicole's choices. I hated Joshua and his interfering in their relationship and a lot of times Kenneth appeared very weak and say "friends don't go behind a friend. One last thing Amelia, Amelia!! Overall, a good story !
um....not sure if i will pick up the others in this series but the first was ok. although the title was indicative of the outcome, i was really hoping nicole would make the smart decision.
Why did I read this? I guess the more accurate question is why did I continue reading this after the first chapter? Oh well, too late being that I'll never get those lost brain cells back.
