Dale Wincott is a 27-year-old woman born into Bostonian wealth and groomed to marry into the social hierarchy. Her mother is a hard-hearted society matriarch, but her father feels for his daughter and helps Dale find a life on her own as a furniture restorer.

Françoise Marie Aurélie de Villerey is a 28-year-old Countess, born into the French aristocracy and forced to marry a count much older than herself. For ten years she was his trophy wife, forced to endure his perverted desires, until the day he finally died. He had broken her emotionally and she no longer cared for what life had to offer, slipping from one sexual partner to another as often as she changed her clothes.

Until... that one night when Françoise looked up during a sexual encounter and saw Dale watching her from the mirror. A veritable angel, full of innocence and curiosity, who touched her very soul.

Through the mirror, Françoise embraces life anew, while for Dale it is a powerful awakening, forcing her to discover not only her sensual nature, but the inner strength she possesses.

From the author's website: I was born in Sydney, Australia, in 1956 where I grew up and have lived all my life. I graduated high school, attended a business college and have been either a typist or secretary for all my working life, taking a seven year break 1987 to 1994 while my kids grew from babies to school kids. Venturing once again out into the workforce, I have spent the last 16 years working for a psychiatrist which, in my opinion, gave me a lot of insight into my own mental state. I hadn't really considered taking up writing until 5 years ago, when I was encouraged by friends in an online chatroom to try my hand at writing some short stories. I practiced my skills with online fan fiction, primarily Xena fan fiction, leading to an opportunity to submit a manuscript to Blue Feather Books at the end of 2007. And the rest, they say, is history.

What an interesting read! A love story, abit of time travelling, romance and the thrill of escaping ..... Dale Wincott, is a budding furniture restorer who is trying to make a name for herself and breaking free from her wealthy overbearing parents. One day, Dale buys an antique mirror that is badly in need for repair. The mirror is quite essential to the story and connects Dale to a beautiful alluring widowed French aristocrat Francoise. Dale recognise the time which Francoise is living in, the early days of the French Revolution.... The race is on whether Dale can convince Francoise of the impending dangers and can they escape in the midst of the upheaval ??

At first, I was abit sceptical of the way this story started. However, I was drawn to the two characters and the angst of whether they can escape the horror upheaval during the French Revolution? I have read the author's other books and I have enjoyed her previous works. I'm amazed that this author writes different genres for each her books! I'm hoping she will go back to her previous books to write sequels...

Seeing the overall review scores, I was a little bit skeptical when I bought the book... but I love this book!! This is a little bit of a fantasy, adventure and romance and I think the combination turns out just well.

The story started with Dale, a furniture restorer who stumbles across an antique mirror and decided to purchase it. Out of expectation, the mirror brought her to cross over time and encounter with Francoise, a widowed aristocrat living in the era of the french revolution. Subsequent event has sent Dale back in time, which she has been on a run with Francoise from France to Boston.

I love this story, and who wouldn't like Francoise... the brave and passionate woman who has a big heart. I also liked the unconventional plot and the small twist in the end. I wouldn't be giving that out, but I'll certainly recommend you to read the book.

I loved the premise of the book - two women from very different times and places find each other through a mirror. A lesbian historical romance with a time travel twist. Sounds great. However while reading the story it never did grab me as much as I thought it would and it took me a long time with many long breaks to actually finish the book.
The magic behind the magical mirror that started this romance is never explained and besides the time portal mirror the rest of the story is mainly told in a realistic tone. The American woman Dale starts out peeping on the French woman Francoise having sex. This includes a scene where she's having sex with a man (not something I particularly want to read in a lesbian romance). Eventually Dale makes her way through the mirror for her own sexy times with Francoise. Francoise travels to Dale's world and have to deal with her homophobic mother and despite being grown women somehow have to escape through the mirror to Francoise's world. The pair find themselves trying to survive during the time of the French Revolution and the French woman (also an aristocrat) disguises herself as a man to make their escape easier. Again, another interesting premise that for some reason fell short on the delivery. The last quarter of the book they're on a slave ship to escape France and have to deal with the shady ship's captain. They're forced to share their quarters with women from a brothel also trying to escape the turbulent and dangerous time in France. The further into the story you go the more time is spent on other characters rather then fully developing the relationship between the two protagonists of the story. The love scenes also fell a bit flat for me. There weren't many (or at least they weren't memorable) and I never quite felt fully invested in the characters to really get into them.
I think if there were more surprises along the way (a twist or turn here or there that I didn't expect) I would have been more interested in the story.

Interesting

I thought this book was fun to read. I like reading about the different time changes and how the ladies had to adapt to each others world. I have no problem recommending this book to my peers.

I read the 3 online chapters to this book and loved it. It was interesting having a span between time travel.

Reflected Passion pulled me in right away, just like the mirror that the writer skillfully uses as a plot device for two women from different centuries to meet and fall in love. There is so much great potential here, but I found the last third of the novel to drag a bit and the resolution I was looking for just isn't there. Still, this is a well-written story with lovable characters and suspense, so it's all good. :)
