Hmmmm....interesting

I like this book a lot and here is the reason. Sometimes I don't want everyone in the book to die a bloody, bullet ridden mess. I know they are not all like this, I've read a few that are not. It's just good to have someone come out with a decent story at the end. Yes, it's a story about a girl that wanted to take the easy way out of the projects by letting someone else foot the bill. She could have easily finished school and worked hard to do it herself but I guess in her eyes, fast and easy = the best outcome. I like Shae and I was cheering her on even though her Mom was a dunken psychopath she remained a good person with a good heart. She did what she could for her 3 younger brothers.
Usually easy never works. Whatever you want that worth having majority of the time takes a lot of hard work. She had standards for who she would date to save her from the project but somehow she still got sucked in by Dana's deranged butt.
Now I'm going to give a few clues:
1)If you meet someone and they snap on you and tell you "you're mine" the FIRST time they meet you...run.
2)If he beats you and then gives you money or gifts...run, it's not going to stop.
3) If your grandma doesn't like him...run
Sometimes you doing have to run fair because what you really need is sitting right under your nose.
Contains rape scenes, child abuse, murder, police beatdowns, and unconditional love, and a long lost daddy. To the latter all I can say is sorry pops, you are so late to the party you missed the clean up crew.

What can I say this was a very entertaining from the moment I open this book. I was so into this book. The main character of this book LaShae Byrts was not going to become a typical chick from the hood. She was determined to find her way out of the projects, by any means necessary. She had a very rough up bringing, but she was a tough diva in her words The Project Queen and wasn't going to allow anyone to take advantage of her. Her motto is just because she's from the projects she's not going to act like she was from there. She's 1 of 5 children that her parents have. Shae was better than most of the girls from the projects she was 18 year old and a virgin with no children and all the guys in the neighborhood was trying their best to get with her even the old men. She had a body out of this world and looks to go along with it, but only drawback she was high school dropout, with nothing, but making money on her mind and trying to survive in her world that only the best of the best and strongest come out alive. Shae had a bestfriend name Larry they had been friends since the second grade, he would do anything for her and she knew it, he didn't live in the projects he lived across the street, but knew everyone in the hood. This is full of neighborhood drama, lies, betrayal, lust. To find out happens to Shae you must grab your own copy today. I highly recommend this book!!!

MY Nook Color was down for awhile because the charger was broken, and had to wait for another one to be shipped that took well over a month to recieve, although I could have gone to the local library but I refused to revert back to carrying up to 7 or 8 books at at a time. About Project Queen, I enjoyed reading this book from the very first chapter to the end, not bad for a first read since my device was down, that's what I call a come back! Although this was my first time reading from this author, I have a strange feeling this wont be the last, I just assume going broke downloading all of her books to my device, It's always a risk in my opinion when you chose to read something from a new author especially if you buy the books, but I had no regrets whatsoever, my opinion about this author is when she writes about characters in her books she never fails to give you their story, rather it be a main character or not, you always know why this character or why that character is the way they are, she never leaves the reader lost that is why I love her writing skill, whenever a character is mentioned in her book she gives you a past story of their life to the present, and for that she gets a five star rating from me. Thank you Miss Patterson for a great read.

I rarely write reviews, because frankly I don't enjoy taking the time to write them. However, I had to write a review for this book. What can I say? It was just real...I truly felt like I knew each and every character. The author writes very well -- her characters came alive and so a little of them will remain with me always. There was never a moment when I didn't want to turn the next page. I watched Shae grow and develop into a respectable, strong young woman despite impossible odds. The author mastered her plot and left no loose ends, weaving everything together beautifully and bringing it all to a satisifying close. I can learn a lot from her as a writer -- she is my superior! As a side note, I used to live in St. Pete and enjoyed reading a book set here. I was especially happy to find out that the author and I attended the same college. I will definitely be reading more from Teresa Patterson.

On the outside among LaShae Byrts’ peers, she appears to be strong and confident, but that’s only a façade. LaShea, a beautiful teenage girl, is hiding a terrible secret, an abusive mother who drinks too much. Struggling to find a way out of the projects, LaShea will even break the law to achieve her goal. Sometimes goals, even noble ones, come at a terrible price. LaShea’s boyfriend, a drug dealer is as, if not more, abusive than her mother. Still, he is an ends to a means for her and endures the hurt and pain.
T D Patterson put together a wonderful story with a strong, believable cast of extras. Readers will empathize for LaShea’s struggle to get out of the projects and the love/pain she has for her family. A good read.

I enjoyed this book more than I thought I would and would recommend it to others. I really liked how Shae was able to overcome all the obstacles thrown her way and thought the storyline itself was a good one.

This book was just ok. I was able to ignore most of the errors in the book. In the beginning, it was extremely slow. There was too much narration for me. It eventually picked up, but when I was 75% done with the book, it was back to being super slow. I was so glad when I finished the book.

Wow this book took me threw a gamut of emotions and I hafta say had me talking out loud a whole lot!! LOL. This is a must read, as is the soon to be released sequel, Project Queen II

I thought this book was a good read. A page turner! I believe this book has a part two. Not sure if I want another ending because I really liked this ending. I do recommend!

This was a VERY well written book. Each character had his or her own back story, and I truly LOVED how the author was very realistic in terms of the way the story was written, as well as the realities of living in the hood and some of the unfortunate consequences that can result from it, as well as the possible positive outcomes.
The overall story was about Larry and Shae, two young people in love who are trying to process their feelings for one another while dealing with their own internal and external conflicts. Larry is dealing with his feelings for Shae, as well as some other more threatening circumstances. Shae is dealing with her feelings for Larry, as well as some severe issues in her home environment.
Their love continues to blossom and intertwine with the other circumstances they are facing, and both have some tough decisions to make before they can finally be together.
This book rang true on so many levels, from a psychological, sociological, and economical standpoint. I would definitely read another book from this author, and I would also recommend this book to others to read as well.
One thing that I would like to note; however, is that there are some very sensitive situation that occur that may only be appropriate for individuals over age 18. Other than that, great book!

Page turner
Good Story. This wasn't what I was,expecting by the title. In the beginning I wondered where this was going. It turned out to be really good. I really got into the characters. Shae was giving mixed signals from the start because her attitude sucked and she didn't know how to treat people. As you read on, you see why. Her and her siblings were going through it. I was in my feelings because people knew and didn't help. In her attempt to get out the projects, she was met with more abuse. Shae couldn't catch a break. Just when she got together with her childhood friend/boo her life took a turn for the worst. Dana was beating on her and her mama was trying to kill them off. I like how she tried to stand by her brothers when she was going through her own mess. In the end, things started looking up for her though. There's a lot going on in between but you gotta read it for yourself. It's a page Turner and it's not over yet.

Amazing !!!
This is my first time reading this author work but it will not be my last. This book was everything plus some. I read this book in one day. The story line flowed so well. I felt every emotion sad happy and etc. This author writing skills are amazing.

Whew!
This book was a 3 star for it was really good kept me intrigued kept me wanting to flip the pages. I just felt so bad for Shay but she definitely got the ending that she deserved.

This book so entertaining, I couldn’t put it down, I highly recommend this book, there were some grammatical errors, but the story was entertaining.

Every little girl dreams of being the queen of their own little kingdom. But what happens when that kingdom is a project fulled with drug dealers and haters. Would you still want to be a "project queen". Sahe byrts was just that a "project queen" trying to get out at all costs but they say to be careful of what you ask for because you might not like the outcome but for Shae Byrts anything was better that what she had to endure at the hands of her abusive and alcoholic mother. Shae was forced to drop out high school of be the mother of her younger sibling due to her mother's behavior. Looking for the quickest way out of her current situation Shae by passes love up for money. When she pushes her childhood friend away for the projects biggest dope boy. who turns out to be Shae's worse nightmare.
Willing to endure anything to make out Shae allows her self to verbally and physically abused that is until she finds out her brother has somehow gotten himself in deep with her boyfriend. Things go from bad to worse when their grandmother is found dead and her twin brothers are poisoned.
T.D. Patterson does a great job of showing the readers that everything that glitters isn't gold. This was a good read and the story flowed very well. I gave this 4 stars.

It was an ALRIGHT book nothing spectacular. A lot of spelling and Point of View errors (such as the author confusing Larry and James). I understand the themes of turning a life around without drugs and such. It was such a predictable and cliche read it was sad. I enjoyed the read to get my mind off of other things. Reading trash does that for you. I'll read the sequel to the book and hopefully it'll get better. It's so sad that the author thinks that black beautiful is a bi-racial (light-skinned) child with long straight hair, it's not! Get your act together Patterson. I am disappoint in you.

THERE IS A LIGHT AT THE END OF THE TUNNEL!! THIS BOOK TRULY MET MY EXPECTATIONS...KEPT ME ENTERTAINED!! Mrs. Byrts was a very evil woman and I'm sure her story isn't over yet!! I couldn't quite understand how Dana became so obsessed so quickly right after meeting Shae. I found myself scared for Shae, Toby, and Larry throughout the entire book until he was killed!! I am so glad Vivian was reunited back with her siblings!! Job well done to the author and I'm excited to continue on reading to find out what happens next.

Shae...the poor thing. She actually was not as bad as I thought she would be. In the very beginning she was all stuck up like then like 3 chapters later she wasn't (in my eyes anyway). She was just dealing the cards dealt to her. Her not giving her V to the project or drug dealers was admirable...but Dana...oh, Diamond Dog Dana (THE HELL KIND OF NAME IS THAT?)changed everything. His ass was crazy. Her mom was crazy. Larry was a cool dude!

I gave this book 5 stars because it was actually a very good book. I was even surprised that it was free. I'm happy that Shae and her siblings are gonna be together once and for all under the same roof. I'm also happy that everybody made it out alive and in one piece, and Dana got exactly what he deserves, dam what a monster. Great storyline, well written and overall a good read. Good job.

A cautionary story for young hoodrats
Easy money leads to bad times. When you can read about blossoms and Jesus, you know you have ghetto story. In between lurid sex and the wise words of the Bible is the story of a project chick who finds her way out of the projects. Good for her.

I must say that I enjoyed this book. It was a page turner for me. It showed the strength that a young girl had to develop in order to become into a woman. There is no shortcuts to success, it takes hard work and determination. This is something Shae Bryts learned the hard way. Great read!

Such a great read.
This was definitely a good book! A few twist & turns are what EVERY book needs & this one has just that. Thank you for entertaining me with such a mind blowing story. I LOVE to read Urban Novels & this one didn't disappoint me at all.
