A few years ago, Brax traded in his suit and law degree for part ownership in his best friend's tattoo parlor, Love and Tattoos. He hasn't looked back. Inked from head to toe, full of business smarts, and an affinity for classical music and hard sex, he’s got life right where he wants it.
Until the woman he can’t stop craving comes home. She's full of luscious curves, looks a little unsure of herself, and has taken to acting a little odd around him. Brax can't help but wonder why.
The corporate advertising firm in Philadelphia that Annie buttoned up her carefree personality for has laid her off. Now, back in North Carolina, she’s trying to find her sparks again. Her career is changing direction, her sex life is nearly dead, and the one thing worth having in the midst of it all is supposedly off limits.
Brax’s cockiness and Annie’s own desire to for the tattoo artist, dares her to believe he might know her better than she thinks he does. And when he promises that he can help her find what’s missing in her life, she agrees to his little after-hours game.
The challenge he lays out comes with a few strings, the suggestion of stripping, confessions, and the temptation of ink. But, they've never been that close, so how could she possibly lose?
I loved this book! But Lissa, please don't leave me hanging! I want to know how Joe reacted. I want to know the answer to the last question! I wanted more, more, more!
“A little game. I show you that I know small but essential things about you, important things, and for each right answer, you have to give me an article of clothing from your body.”
Annie’s breath caught in her throat and her eyes widened.
“What?” The word squeaked out.
“I believe I was quite clear.”
“What happens when the game is over?”
“There are several possibilities and only a few certainties.”
Annie licked her lips. “Which are?”
“Do you want the certainties or the possibilities?”
“Both.”
“All right. Well, the possibilities are total nudity, and fucking.”
“And the certainties?”
“Partially naked and you getting inked by me.”
“Why do you want to ink me?”
“Because of the pain, the pleasure, the addiction. Because of the love, the eroticism of being tattooed. I want to remind you of what it’s like to feel all of that, all at one time. I want you wearing my ink.”
I enjoyed Love and Tattoos by Lissa Matthews. It’s a novella length story, 92 pages, and focuses on one day in the life of Brax and Annie. Brax is a former lawyer, current tatted up, sexy tattoo shop co-owner. Annie recently was layed off from her corporate advertising job and is working at Love and Tattoos, her brother and Brax’s tattoo shop. Both Brax and Annie have had feelings for each other for a long time but neither of them have realized it. What starts out as a little game, ends up on the tattoo shop floor…
“Remember what I said about you needing me?” He flicked his gaze up to catch her nod before focusing on her pussy again. “Well, turns out I need you more. I either need my dick inside you or I need my tongue working through those lips and playing with that ring. Both before the day is over, but definitely one of them right the fuck now.”
I really enjoyed that both characters seem very real. Brax is wonderful. smart, charming, did I mention he has over 100 tattoos? He definitely seemed like the whole package, but again, in a very real way. I like how the author described him.
A mix of street tough and refinement, charming words and wicked ink. He was bad boy and gentleman all rolled into one.
The story line seems like something that could actually happen. No one’s a Navy Seal, there’s no serial killer, no crazy alpha male or millionaires…just two people rekindling a connection that has always been there.
He had her. He finally fucking had her. And it wasn’t about the sex — though God, this was damn good sex — it was all about her and him and their passion for their art, their love of tattoos, and the winding road it took for them to realize they could have something special.
Love and Tattoos is a very sweet, friends to lover story. I thought the way Brax tells Joe about his new status with Annie was hilarious. The only thing I didn't like about the book was the ending. The author ends the book really abruptly. It’s not a cliffhanger, the book offers a complete story. But instead of winding down to the conclusion, the author just slams on the brakes. Other than that, it was a nice read with good characters and perfect when you have a couple hours or less to spare.
this was a good book with great characters b a great story line bt what made me give it less stars was the ending I jst sort of ended and left it open for more of a story to b written bt nothing there. I would love to know wt came nxt esp wen joe gt home lol xxx
This was a quick read and I loved the art connections that were made throughout the story. I do wish there was more... The way it ended just needed more!
This book started out so good. Boy did it lose its excitement. Both lead characters ended up all sappy goo goo eyed. The best part of this book was the ending.
I’ve been reading a lot of books lately with the falling for the best friend’s little sister theme but wow Love & Tattoos by Lissa Matthews blew me out of the water. There are just so many elements to this story that made it a fantastic read. I love that the hero, Brax, is a lawyer who decided that owning a tattoo parlor was more his style. The fact that he understands the prejudice some people have towards those who choose to wear their art and refuses to make apologies for his. The heroine, Annie, seems like she’s struggling with life, something Brax wants to help her with but he wants more than that as well. Annie has been infatuated with Brax for years but she doesn’t think he even sees her as a woman just as his best friend’s sister.
As these two have known each other for years, once Brax makes a move their relationship goes from 0 to 60 in the blink of an eye but I never felt cheated. It is so obvious these two know each other well and are very comfortable going from friends to lovers. Their intimate scenes are creative, sexy as hell, with some surprises for each of them thrown in along the way.
I loved every minute of Love & Tattoos, my only complaint I wanted more but I have a feeling we’ll be seeing more of Brax and Annie when his business partner and her brother, Joe, gets back to town. There are more stories to be told between the walls of Love & Tattoos and I can’t wait to read them!
I just loved this story, I mean what is not to love about a hot, tattooed, Alpha man with a loving side :). Brax and Annie are very well written, you really understand the emotional turmoil they go through and are drawn in from the very beginning. Lissa as always has written well developed characters. In this story Brax is in love with Annie and he is tired of waiting and he has made a decision to go after what he wants. Annie has lost something after returning home she is missing her spark and is a little lost, and Brax is just the one to help Annie out of her funk.
I really enjoyed this story besides being well written, the characters are very easy to love, you feel as if you are right there with them for all of the ups and downs. I definitely recommended this book.
Really upset the way it ended. It was too short I wanted more.
Well that sucks. I wanted more Braxton and Annie. =[ can't we get a part 2 right where we left off?
The only reason it wasn't 5 stars was because there was a lot of art and lawyer talk trying to figure out a life's direction.
I just wanted Annie and Brax together I didn't really care about the rest even though I got it and understood it needed to be in the story to know that they got eachother. Since the book was so short I just felt like I wanted that out of the way so I can just get to them.
I want to know what's going to happen with the brother now. And her tattoo. I really did like that phone call it was a great set up to continue the story. But sadly it didn't continue.
A quick fun sexy read....Brax a tattooed hotty that gave up the his law degree to do what he loves.. Inking... Annie, Brax's best friend sister comes back home after her attempting life in the corporate world and was let go. She seems lost and Brax wants to help her find herself and find him...as he's been in love with her since the first time he laid eyes on her. Find out how one night can mean so much!!!!
Almost a four star book it just fell short due to length, heat (2.5) and cliffhanger. Love the characters Brax and Annie! What's not to love about falling for your best friends sister that's taboo a no no... can't wait to meet Joe he sounds smokin hot, a good brother and friend. Not sure when next book comes out very disappointing.. free book so BUY but be warned cliffhanger with no second book in sight :(
I wasn't connecting with Brax and Annie at the beginning, but as the story progressed I started to really like them. My only complaint is that it ended too soon! I wasn't ready for it to end the way it did. I wanted to spend more time with Brax and Annie and I wanted to meet Joe, I'm hoping there will be a sequel of some kind one day. I have a feeling I'd love a book all about Joe as well.
I've read other books by same author and liked them better than this one. NOT a bad read just felt ending abrupt is there more? 3.5 stars it was a good cleanser read after reading 2 very intense books!
This was an "OK" read. Nothing really happened & story wasn't really going anywhere. There was no conflict or climax. Didn't really have a care for the characters unfortunately. I was expecting more, but ended up being quite disappointed.
This booked had me hook from the beginning. I loved Brax and Annie. They were well suited for each other. Lisssa did a great job with the friends to lovers relationship. I wish this was a longer read, Brax was a great at dirty talker.
This book was ok the characters were good the story dragged in parts then it ended really quick an left the story wide open which was annoyin but the sexy time was good an Brax is hot I m just a lil disappointed xxx
Very hot book and well-written, but couldn't rate it higher because it ended with no sequel in sight. I'd like to read what happens next and see how Brax and Annie's relationship progresses after the one night.
This book could've been a lot better. The story line was there but i didn't feel it went anywhere. The book was basically about sex. And It had a stupid ending!
