Another adventure for Maggie, who has to save the world once again with the help of her new partner, Killian.

This time they are hired to bring back the ghosts that are disappearing from a famous attraction ghost ship.

Dean Wincester - Here Ghosty Ghosty

Action, ghosts and an irreverent sense of humor that I'm thoroughly enjoying! Looking forward to their next adventure in M&K Tracking.

Not sure what it is exactly that has me ALWAYS coming back for more of Maggie and Killian. They are somehow magical together.

But alas aside from the first one they are three star books that really want to be four but just can't quite get there.

Maybe it's some of the concepts of the Otherworld that are confusing, and never adequately explained and leave me always going "okay?", and hoping along the way I will understand what the heck Maggie is talking about.

It just needs a little more something, but I don't know what that something is, since I LOVE these books and thoroughly enjoy them.

Best of the series so far. Much more ass-kicking and definitely more Killian :)

I really liked the whole time travel aspect of this one. Maggie and Killian are trying to recover ghosts that have disappeared from an old steamer ship and throughout the course, they find themselves plopped down in different historical periods, mainly the 1930's and 40's. Granted, the whole historical atmosphere was fleeting, more like a token mention, but it was still fun. Killian and Maggie also meet some interesting historical figures that they desperately need to save, lest Maggie's existence be dramatically altered.

What I absolutely love about this series is that it's a brainless escape. I don't need to think, there isn't anything major to "figure out". It's just a fun, quirky ride not to be taken seriously. It's a new guilty pleasure, a fun and fluffy pleasure, spending a few hours with a quirky heroine and an hysterical elf. Definitely looking forward to the fourth installment (which hopefully maybe possibly will propel Killian and Maggie in a more romantic direction. Killian definitely needs to get his noodle wet, if only Maggie would finally succumb. Or Lacy...she's made it clear she wants her some elf :) )

Maggie and Pretzel Brain

This novel had some wonderful new characters and moments, particularly those with the girl Jackie. It has the trademark Danley witty dialogue. Unfortunately it has some downsides. One is despite being shorter in length, or maybe because of it, the pace is frenetic and repetitive. Even vampire killing gets old when our heroes are fighting through hoards of them every few pages.

Two, the plot too often pushed me beyond my necessary willingness to suspend disbelief, from Maggie walking around with a bullet gut wound to the too complex for my poor brain to follow crash course on dimensions in time and space, portals, and time and ghost bubbles. More cerebral readers could maybe follow the latter but spending all my time trying to figure out if it made sense at least in the context of the internal rules of this fictional world was not my idea of fun. The ghost bubble particularly threw me for a loop (without including spoilers that's all I can say).

Finally, after three novels binge read in this series, Maggie and Killian, as engaging as they are to spend time with, don't seem to be deepening much. What development is happening is so incrementally slow and almost subatomic that I am losing interest. Some of this is the nature of the characters, Maggie's discomfort with any softer emotion and favorite defensive armor denial, and Killian's willingness to let her, but I need a few interludes here and there of getting some honesty and substance individually and relationally (and an actual kiss or two) if I'm going to invest reading this series beyond the next novel. We like what we like for better or worse. And the best authors write the stories they like to read. Danley is a gifted writer, but unless the next novel or two give a little more character along with the ass-whupping, we are likely parting ways.

The book started out well enough. Maggie and Killian met her family for a Sunday brunch atop an old cruise ship from the 1930s that amongst other things served as a crew transporter during the war. The conversation leading to and during the brunch was hilarious, there was a ghost and an ominous warning. All good.

But then the main storyline started. It involves a turned world wanderer like Maggie trying to take a vampire army through three different time periods with the help of a male siren playing a blood organ. The book is only 200 pages long, so the author doesn't go into an awful lot of detail on how this all works. But you still get the impression that the whole time travel shenanigans are used to cover up the fact that not a lot is happening in this book.

I also found it kind of irritating that Maggie upon meeting the vampire wanderer for the first time made fun of her skill and professes that she is far superior (being the second best wanderer in the world, I take it after her father), but she is completely powerless to stop her. Also, she massacres vampires in the hundreds, but can't overpower her.

Because of the banter between Killian and her, and meeting amusing new characters like Jackie, George and even Mortimer, I still liked it, but since the series improved with the second book, it was kind of disappointing that the quality fell again.

Maggie on the Bounty (Maggie Mac Kay Magical Tracker Book 3)

First I love the humor in the Maggie MacKay series. It is just down right hilarious at times! I wasn't as in love with the story line in book 3. Dimensional shifting and time warps are not my favorite places to read about. I get as lost in them as Maggie did! I think Killian and Maggie continue to make a great team and I like that they are warming up to each, as each new story is told. I love Maggie's relatives and the priest too. Once again this story is about vampires trying to screw up the world only this time it takes place on an old cruise ship, dry docked in CA. The new characters were very interesting and fun, except for the vamp's of course. I found some of the fighting scenes boring and drawn out. I would love for the author to bring back some of the magic from her first book of the series.

“Maggie on the Bounty” sees our heroine travelling the high seas (of time) along with her trusty sidekick Killian.
They've been hired at short notice to find out why the ghosts onboard the Empress Adelaide, a famous ocean liner, which is now permanently docked as a tourist attraction.
All, however, is not as it seems as Maggie finds herself at vampire central and travelling back in time.
There's a very real possibility that she will be stuck in the past – but she will do whatever it takes to avoid reliving the 1980s!
I like the series for no reason that I can fully explain. Maggie and Killian are an interesting couple even if all they ever do is dance around each other. There's no real character development and I am still clueless as to what exactly the Otherworld is.
Still, it is very readable.
3 Stars.

The third in this series continues the light hearted adventures of a supernatural being tracker. Maggie has now partnered with her Elf friend Killian and they are contracted to find out what happened to all the ghosts on a haunted ship turned hotel. This story requires either extra concentration or a complete pass on trying to figure out the various dimensions, time warps, and ghost bubbles involved in this job. As always, Maggie kills a fair share of vampires, finds herself in danger, and carries on a running stream of obscenity laced banter.

I really like the series on Maggie MacKay. Just great fun to read and I like that there is a main storyline that continues trough the different stand alone books. Looking forward to reading the next one.

Time travel is usually confusing as all Hell, especially when there are pocket dimensions to make it more confusing. This one does start out with a very brief rundown of what happens in the previous book so basically you have to start reading them in order.

Magical adventures on the Empress Adelaid (a stand in for the Queen Mary in Long Beach). It was particularly fun to read a story set on a ship I've been on a number of times even for brunch.

Now that Maggie and Killan have survived their first mission together as real partners, it's time for their personal relationship to move forward as well. I for one would love to see Killan introduce Maggie to some elvish culture, whether he's bare as a young elf at his first midsummer eve or just introducing her to his family. I wonder if they'll be as happy with the match as Maggie's entire maternal family line is? (Or, since there is time travel involved; was.) But I'm getting ahead of myself, aren't I?

Liked the time travel aspect. Those pesky vamps just keep popping up everywhere, don't they? Even on a tragically ghost free haunted ship, with lots of underwhelmed tourists who are there to experience a paranormal encounter. As always, it's up to Maggie and her elf to save the day, and as it turns out, her own family. Luckily, Killan is back to stay, and he is featured much more prominently in this book. As expected, it's full of the usual banter between our two future lovebirds. But it's about time Killan gets lucky. All those "shut up, elf" must be wearing the poor guy down. Time to yield to temptation, Maggie. Your mother is always right, why fight the inevitable? Hopefully we'll soon get some proof that sometimes, just sometimes, good guys finish first. In the next installment, perhaps?;-)

If I am to be totally honest, "Maggie on the Bounty" was just okay. It felt more like a filler book that truly never moves the overall series forward and as much as I enjoy the witty repartee between Maggie and Killian there banter is getting old.

In this addition M&K Trackers gets their first case after attending a brunch with Maggie's family on the ancient cruise ship, the Adelaide. Maggie is struggling with the transition of partnership with Killian but knows it makes sense.

While investigating the strange and mysterious disappearance of the famed ghost of the Adelaide, Killian and Maggie go back in time the unveil a conspiracy by vampires that has trapped the ghost in a different time and dimension. There are a bevy of interesting characters including a siren, gargoyles and a relative of Maggie's. Our dynamic duo is in a time crunch to solve this case if they don't get themselves killed first.

There is plenty of action but quite honestly I was a bit bored. It is more of the same, Killian and Maggie's relationship is stagnant/ non existent and is Killian and Lacy headed for a. love connection? Who knows and at this point I not sure I care or whether or not I will go on with this series. if book four doesn't move the series forward, I will definitely not continue on with the series.

Have I mentioned I’m loving these books? This is my third book in 2 days and I cannot get enough of the wild and crazy world of Maggie MacKay.

This book begins with a simple brunch with family and ends up throwing Maggie and Killian into a timey-wimey wibbly wobbly mess. These now official partners are the same sarcastic and wonderful pair that they’ve been for the previous books. Now that they’re working together, we get to see a bit more of the greedy side of Killian, which does not hurt my enjoyment of him at all. These two are quickly becoming my favorite couple, even if they continue to destroy my hopes and dreams by not hooking up (yet).

The mystery in this one has to do with vampires (tied to the big bad) showing up in times they aren’t supposed to while ghosts are notably missing where they are supposed to be. Throw in a ghost ship, some time paradoxes (paradoxi?) and you’ve got yourself an action-packed adventure for our fearless duo. Did I mention the amazing banter? This book is filled to the brim with fast-paced out of this world (literally) banter. I’m completely addicted.

The books are winding down and I am getting really sad about that. I have to say that this installment of The Maggie MacKay- Magic Tracker Series creeped me out a little bit. Generally, ghosts in stories don’t creep me out to, to much. But I believe that the addition of the time vortex… not particularly my cup of tea, let me tell you. But with that aside, I genuinely enjoyed the book ghostly time traveling and all. Again, I have to express my love for all the action that Kate Danley has packed into the pages of the book. Along with Miss Mackay’s foul mouthed sarcastic humor and her banters with Killian. Again, I say those two make a good duo and them not being extra lovey-dovey is the icing on the cake for me. Mostly because sometimes you have to take a break from clingy romances. And with them not staring moony eyed at each other for the majority of the time I am not forced to chuck my phone across the room with the saccharine quality of the ‘undying love’ shtick. I have begrudgingly read the next book with the sad knowledge that I am getting to the end of the series.

Maggie and Killian are hired to find out what is happening to all the ghosts on the “haunted” pleasure steam ship. They soon discover theyhave been swept into a much more nefarious plot.

What I enjoy most about Maggie on the Bounty is the fun, easy, highly entertaining read Kate Danley always seems to provide. It's not a mind-twisting story that takes lots of concentration but a completely enjoyable quick read. Sometimes you just need the straight-out entertainment a book can provide, and Maggie on the Bounty hit that spot perfectly.

We are giving an action-adventure with just enough mystery and unconventional characters that provide humor to keep you tied till the end.

Of course, I will be reading on in this series. I've already added M&K Tracking to my wish list for 2015. How could you not enjoy a book that has a warning in the synopsis: “WARNING: This book contains cussing, brawling, and unladylike behavior. Proceed at your own risk.”

That was so super fun! And I laughed out loud about every other page.

Maggie and Killian work together on their first job as official business partners. They have an exciting, yet different kind of adventure than they've had together up to this point.

There aren't any Star Trek references or jokes that I caught, but I can't help associating this story with Star Trek due to all the space-time continuum hoopla. It all makes for an excellent adventure with Maggie and Killian clicking and jiving their badasses better than ever.

I completely loved this. Yay for more Maggie and her foul mouthed ass kickery!

Scoring:
Re-Read Potential: 9
Humor: 8
Plot Progression: 8
Eye Rolling: 4 (This is really good in this case. The Eye Rolling is all in punny or cynical humor rather than ridiculousness.)
Dialog: 10 (wish I could capitalize the 10)
