Selections from all Four Volumes, Teachings of the Book of Mormon, by Hugh W. Nibley. The Purpose of this Book is to make easily available selections from the first two Volumes of the four volume lectures transcribed and published as “Teachings of the Book of Mormon” by Hugh W.Nibley, Professor at Brigham Young University. The second volume under this title contains the last two Volumes of the original Hugh Nibley books All four volumes of the series “Teachings of the Book of Mormon” was text scanned and edited to reduce the size to about half the original by eliminating those portions the Editor felt was not necessary to the verses under discussion. No changes were made to the original Nibley four volumes. Readers of the Book of Mormon will benefit from Hugh Nibley’s extensive historical and linguistic background from a lifetime of study of ancient documents. The Editor has made an effort to provide full scripture references at the beginning of each paragraph which were not available in the original editions by Hugh Nibley. These references will be helpful to students and teachers of the Book of Mormon. The numbers at the beginning of each paragraph refer to the page number of the First Edition of the four volumes, and will alert the reader to where omissions may be found in the original four volumes. The Editor has expanded most chapter topic summaries shown in brackets. Proceeds from this book will be donated to Mondoro-Charities (
The author really brings the scriptures into the real world. He explains context and content and offers application ideas. Very enjoyable, educational and uplifting reading.
Love Nibley’s Keen insights and historical and linguistic prowess.
I chose this rating because Hugh Nibley’s commentaries touch both mind and spirit. The Book of Mormon comes alive with his understanding, wit and testimony.
I like to search the web any time Brother Nibley brings up an ancient event or an expert in ancient studies, I am amazed at the accuarcy of his statements. I also like how he identifies large themes in the text and helps the students see how the themes apply to them personally. The transcripts of his classes are entertaining, informative, and inspiring.
