This is an Intermediate Level story in a series of ELT readers comprising a wide range of titles - some original and some simplified - from modern and classic novels, and designed to appeal to all age-groups, tastes and cultures. The books are divided into five levels: Starter Level, with about 300 basic words; Beginner Level (600 basic words); Elementary Level (1100); Intermediate Level (1600); and Upper Level (2200). Some of the titles are also available on cassette.
-Love letters to the Dead (Ava Dellaira). -Everything everything (Nicola Yoon). -The perks of being a Wallflower (Stephen Chbosky). -I'll give you the Sun (Jandy Nelson). -Everything I never told you (Celeste NG). -To all the boys I've loved before (Jenny Han). -Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone (JK Rowling). -Two boys kissing (David Levithan). -The girl on the Train (Paula Hawkins). -The morning they came for us (Janine di Giovanni).
It took me 70 minutes to read. However, I have not finished reading yet. Seven word summery: boy- angry- lorry- murder- kill- uncle- police Discussion question: Q1: Do you believe that the boy killed his uncle? Why? or Why not? A1: No, because he just hit his uncle. There must be another murder except him. Q2: He needs a lot of help of someone because he is not murder. Whose help do you need when you are in trouble? A2: My friends. I trust them because they always help me when I am in trouble. Comment: It is exiting story. You will be interested in who is a criminal.
I had no idea I had this book in my bookcase 😂 I am going through my bookcase, reading unread books (and yes, there are loads of them...) and re reading books. This is an intermediate level book, so for people who are learning English. So imagine my surprise when I found lots of notes made in the book made by my late grandma. It brought a little tear to my eyes ❤️. Little notes like how to pronounce a word, what it means in Dutch etc. The story itself was written in a simple manner, so it didn't take me overly long to read. It's entertaining enough but not necessarily a book I'd recommend.
It is a very short book to learn intermediate English in my case.
It is difficult to give a good grade, because it is a very simple story, as are its characters and the development of the plot. Although I also understand that it is a small book and that it is designed to learn English, in that case I cannot suspend it either because it does its job.
I would give it a higher rating, if there weren't some situations in the book that are a little ridiculous and stereotyped, I understand that it is for a more childish audience as well, but that doesn't mean that my assessment is what it is.
1. HEINEMANN ELT& INTERMEDIATE 2. 80min. 3. Peter, driver, John, hitchhike, Manchester, killed, uncle, 4. a) No, I won't mind my own business. b) I like this sentence. Peter helped John. There was no worth for him to help John but he helped. He didn't care about benefits. I think this is a wonderful thing. 5. I have never tried hitch-hiking. I thought if there is an opportunity to hitch-hike, I want to do it. I want to be a person like Peter. He just passed by chance but he helped John. If he doesn't brave man, he couldn't help John.
This is no literature masterpiece, yet this work does correspond to what is advertised. Intermediate Level English story with questionnaire at the end and index for English phrases. If one's goal is to test one's English knowledge, this work offers practical approach. As a leisurely read - I feel it's too simple and has no plot progression.
This is book is really good book for a person that are in the intermediate level for example for me, and i suggested people who has an intermediate level of english i sugggest this book because this book is really easy book to read.
