The Devil's Alchemists

Rate this book
When Hitler's atomic scientists hesitate, SS officer Max Heldorf assembles a shadow team of physicists to build the weapon that will ensure Nazi victory.  Physicist Hannah Goldmann becomes the project's lynchpin - and also a major distraction to Heldorf.  But while Hannah supplies the scientific insight, Heldorf must carry out an ingeniously devious plan to ensure success.

Meanwhile, American agent Christina Lindgren runs afoul of the Gestapo and is trapped with vital intelligence - and an injured stranger, a member of the Danish Resistance.  They pool their strengths to escape and to organize the greatest resistance operation of all time: the rescue of all of Denmark's Jews.  Preoccupied with the dangers of their undertaking, made more perilous by a traitor in their midst, neither realizes they have also come across a secret of monumental proportions: the plans for Hitler's atomic bomb.

This book gave a fast passed, character driven and action oriented ride. This is well written from the premis that draws the reader in from page one, to the multiple and original characters that bring the end of the book to an explosive finish. The historical feel was right on as was the action to drama. I LOVED this book. There was no way to put it down. I can not wait to pick up another by A.R.Homer. Huge fan now!!

I couldn't put it down and was equally invested in the divergent tales, even before they came together.
