I have studied many of the world’s religions, however, Hinduism is the most mysterious, exotic and beautiful religion on earth. I absolutely loved it, especially the concept of the Supreme Soul or Brahman and the Hindu Trinity of Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva. I also loved the different denominations of Hinduism, Vaishnavism and Shaivism etc (the followers of Vishnu and Shiva respectively) and their unique, beautiful and exotic face and body paint/markings. I loved the Hindu scriptures, the four Vedas and the Bhagavad Gita, as well as the Hindu epics, the Ramayana and Mahabharata, which are such enthralling and beautiful stories. I also loved the Hindu temples, the sacred rivers, the hundreds of pilgrimages and pilgrimage sites all over the Indian subcontinent and the Himalayas. The Hindu prayers and home alters are so exotic and beautiful and obviously yoga is an awesome physical and spiritual practice. I also liked the concept of moksha or liberation or release from the cycle of death and rebirth and union with the Supreme Soul (Brahman). An amazing religion which is much bigger than I thought it was prior to reading this awesome book. I highly recommend this book and advise anyone to learn about Hinduism.
An excellent albeit lengthy and intensive guide to an ancient and complicated religion. I feel that I learned a lot over the last few months I've been reading this, although now my head is swimming.
