It was slightly amusing; but not informative. I doubt British children learn more about Britain and the Empire than they knew before.

The Constitution Act 1982 gave Canada the right to amend its Constitution (which was The British North America Act 1867; with clarifications in the Statute of Westminster 1931.). Mr. Robinson is right to say (in his list of former colonies) that Canada's independence was a gradual process, and that portions of British North America became provinces of Canada at various times; but we date our nationhood from July 1, 1867, not from 1982, the date Mr Robinson used. ([We got along okay with the BNA Act being both our Constitution and an Act of the British Parliament; but we did need to revise and amend it ourselves. One joke was that when the Canadian Parliament applied to "repatriate our constitution"; the British Parliament "didn't know the thing [the BNA Act] was here [in Westminster]." Well, 115 years was a long time to get around to ask for the master key to our home, even though we had copies.)
