"Jed always told me he'd take care of everything. And I believed him, I trusted him, I loved him."
For Diana, Jed was the first man she trusted. He was the first man to show her what true love was. He was the father of her child, the one man she could always count on. Until one spring day Jed falls from the roof of the barn and Diana's world as she knows it begins to unravel.
Diana is forced to face two things, her husband's secrets, and what if... there was no Jed.

I received a free mobi.file [KINDLE] copy of this book for having subscribed to this author’s newsletter and the following is my honest opinion for it.
As a Book Reviewer, who doesn’t accept any requests to do reviews the bad thing about having gotten a book like this is that it’s not only the fourth book in this series, it’s my inability to return to read this entire intriguing family saga.
Any woman who’s got a man like Jed knows she’s now completely reliant on him to take care of her every need, from financial support to satisfying her in bed. And if he’s stubborn about not accepting assistance from the other male members in his family who are rich, her admiration towards him increases proportionally, especially if she’s given up her career as a lawyer to become a stay-at-home mom.
All is fine until misfortune raises its evil head, causing Diana’s and Jed’s relationship to be severely tested as secret after secret keep popping up, almost like trying to plug holes in a dam without enough equipment, after he gets injured falling off the barn. How can their relationship survive the gauntlet it’s being forced to endure?
This author has done a marvelous job in creating the full range of emotions she wants her readers to get, as well as getting them to be sucked into this page turning novella, so they wind up reading it in one sitting, which I basically what I wound up doing. For this reason I’m giving Ms. Eckhart 5 STARS.
Have you ever asked someone that question? You know something isn't right, you just want to know, what are they hiding? Why won't they tell? What did they do that was so wrong they don't want you to find out; maybe it's not like that at all.
Things are going pretty well at the ranch for Jed and Diana, at least that is what Diana thinks. She watches Jed as he is roofing the barn, not expecting the worst to happen and then it does. Jed reaches for the ladder, it slips and Jed crashes to the ground. Diana in a horrifying shock runs to Jed, but he doesn't move or even open his eyes. Frantically she calls 911. Waiting for the Paramedics to arrive what seemed like for ever, she is holding Danny, trying to get Jed to wake up but nothing. Finally they get there, trying to get him to wake they rush him to the hospital telling her she can't go with them.
He's in surgery, Diana and all the family are waiting and they hear a code blue. Diana still doesn't know if he is alive and she doesn't know about his secret. What will happen when she finds out?
A rancher's fall from the roof while fixing the barn kicks off a whole series of medical and familial issues for this wealthy, multi-generational focus. I liked the story, but in the way I like watching soap operas. I didn't like many of the characters. The men are arrogant, over-bearing and secretive -- the kind of macho farm-breds who believe their women should be home, taking care of the baby and incubating the next one and that, no matter how much of a mess things are in, they can do it themselves and don't need to trouble the little woman. The women, though they grumble about it, for the most part seem to be willing to put up with that - until they don't, and that's when things get interesting. By the end, Eckhart does offer us a happily ever after of sorts, but not everybody's life is rosy which leave lots of room for the next novel in the series. An interesting read.
Jed is keeping too many things from Diana and not treating her like the intelligent, highly educated woman she is. This maybe wasn't so bad until he is injured and unable to help keep their ranch and dream from falling apart.
The great thing about this story is how Jed's family rallied around him to help take care of the things that he couldn't do while recovering from a bad fall.
The main story for Jed and Diana is concluded in this book but there is a cliffhanger for Andy and Laura. I'm a bit disappointed to find out that the remaining books in this series aren't available as audiobooks. I do have the ebooks so I'll be able to continue reading about this close-knit family.
Once again, I really enjoyed the narration by Melissa Moran.
We are back with the Friessen family and another story revolving around Jeb Friessen and his wife Diana. Jeb is the love of her life, butJeb is keeping secrets on the state of affairs. When an accident occurs and their future is in danger, will the truth come out? Will there be a HEA or will tragedy change everyone’s life? I have come to love the stories this author creates. Why? Well, she gives us characters that are not cookie cutter, are imperfect in a life that is messy, yet wonderful. I enjoyed the ebook, but always find the audio versions bring the stories to life and this one was no exception. Looking forward to more stories in this engaging series.
Audiobook Review: Secrets (Finding Love: The Outsider Series # 4) by Lorhainne Eckhart (Author), Melissa Moran (Narrator)
Eckhart has a gift for bringing the senses alive. Her stories are soulful looks at life and love through less than perfect eyes. Secrets is a puzzle where nothing actually fits. Diana and Jed thought they'd weathered their stormy pasts until an accidental starts to unravel it all. A powerful look at what love truly means and the danger that lives within the unknown.
I did enjoy this story, I wasn’t overly enamoured with the men, they came across as quite chauvinistic and overly controlling to me which i don’t like.
Having said that the story was good and the characters believable and full.
I thought that the jealousy shown towards the lady doctor was out of place, that could have been left out and it wouldn’t have effected the story in anyway. It didn’t fit in my opinion.
Still a nice easy read if you like cowboys and strong men.
Secrets (The Outsider #4) was a great read by Lorhainne Eckhart. Jed is the first man that Diana ever trusted and the first man to show her what true love was. He is not only the father of her child but also the one man she can always count on. One spring day Jed falls from the roof of the barn and Diana’s world as she knows it unravels. She must face his secrets and what happens if he is no longer there. I enjoyed reading this book and cant wait to read more by the author.
Either way. The story is heartbreaking. But I only read this for the set of for Andy’s story but I guess it’s still a great for Jed and Laura’s story to unfold here.
Secrets: The Sequel to The Awakening (Finding Love ~ THE OUTSIDER SERIES)
With this heading I’m confused but egged on by a review on amazon and I’m looking for the rest of the book(s) in this series with some confusion. If this book, Secrets (The Outsider book #2) is the sequel to The Awakening (The Friessen Legacy book #4) then what is Finding Love (The Outsiders #1) the prequel to? You think you’re confused?
Crossover is way too messy, it would have been less confusing to simply #4.5 this novella rather than spin it off into its own series.
Anyway… the book.
When I first spotted Western in the Finding Love #1 title on amazon it immediately brought to mind a setting of guns, shoot outs, cowboys, horses and ranches. Of course the brief blurb and one review on amazon tells it like it is so you can expect a similar setting to those used by Diana Palmer in her Tall Texan series. Western with a contemporary flavour or Contemporary Western fits better.
This is a first time read with this author so I have none of the back story as to why Andy hurt and lost Diana to Jed, it must have been a doozy but clearly it was for the best even though Andy doesn’t know it…yet. He’s one mixed up fella and I was rooting for his wife to leave his pitying arse. Sorry this story is not Andy’s although you get tantalising teasers of the tri-love that must have been Jed, Diana and Andy that unfolded in Finding Love #1 or was it The Awakening #4?
This is Diana and Jed’s story and Jed's my kinda hero, too proud, too pigheaded, a man fighting his own demons yet determined to make a go of his life on his own terms until an accident hauls him up and forces him to examine if his pride is really worth the anguish he’s putting himself and his family through. Jed is Diana's life and she's understandably emotional, beside herself with worry and she knows Jed is holding something back.
Jed reminded me of my father.
Dragged a little in places nonetheless it was a pretty solid read.
The male protagonists Jed and Andy become completely unlikable in this book. I don't know why the author persists in having them act so stupidly. Jed is keeping major secrets from his wife and insisting that she not work. Andy is ignoring his wife and panting after his cousin's wife. Just ugh. Since both of their original books ended happily, it feels like she's having them act this way to manufacture drama. Not a fan.
In this book Jed and Diana are faced with extraordinary challenges. Jed has been keeping secrets from Diana believing he could work everything out. Then the unthinkable happens and Diana not only learns of his secrets but has to cope with the situation on her own. It is not long before she learns she is not alone.
I read this book in one setting and loved it. I have loved the entire series and will start the next book this afternoon.
Jed and Diana are madly in love but he is keeping huge secrets from her. They are broke. When Jed falls off the roof and is taken to hospital in a very serious condition, she then finds out about everything. Will Jed walk again? Will he survive? What's with Andy? Is he still in love with Diana? All the Friessens come together in this one to support Jed and Diana. Another wonderful Friessen story.
The parents, brothers and cousins in this large family all cared for each other and helped each other. Jed had to learn the hard way that help from his family didn't mean he couldn't take care of his family. During a crisis they all learned how great a close-knit family could be. Good Read.
Sadly, a too short a story of a family struggling through life. One of the brothers has been injured, and how will this wife cope? Good writing, but I'm sought more.
This book did not grab my attention. I actually had a hard time finishing this tittle. It made me wonder if this was one of the first books the author had written. It was not very detailed and lacked events to make you want to know more.
What an emotional story. A story about a woman who so loved her husband who would do anything to help him inspite of his self. Ted is a brought man, but his wife shows him what is the most important thing in his life. A tear jerker of a story, but an great read.
Becoming a true fan of this writer. She tackles some serious controversial issues in her stories which makes for real good reading. On to another one by Ms. Eckhart.
