**A Top 100 Customer Favorite in Kids & Teens Kindle Books of 2013!**

From bestselling author Kaitlyn Davis comes a paranormal romance perfect for fans of Twilight, The Vampire Diaries, and Buffy The Vampire Slayer. Scorch is the fourth and final book in the thrilling Midnight Fire Series.

"All it did was remind Kira that time was running out. That she needed to choose. Or a lot more than a forest would burn. The whole world would crumble."

Aldrich escaped...again. Tristan forgot...everything. And Luke, well, Luke was getting more than a little impatient. But those were the least of Kira's concerns, because something else happened in England--something she was trying desperately to forget. A wedge of evil had lodged itself in her heart, a little black hole had nestled into her flames, and it wasn't going away--not anytime soon...and maybe not ever.

Ugghhhh!!! I absolutely 100% HATE this book with my entire heart and being! I am going to pretend in my mind that she chose Tristan and that their love really did prevail like I wanted it to. What was the author thinking!?! Because i honestly didnt think it was a good ending! I cried during the entire time while she erased his memories! I even kept crying afterwards and felt like i was going to be sick when she got completely over Tristan and lept into Luke's arms!! I cant stand Kira now!!!! I wouldve felt sooo much better if she did die in the ending! I know its cruel but it is completely unreasonable for her to just delete his memories! In this book they keep mentioning how "love will prevail" well honestly it couldve, but STUBBURN Kira killed it. She suffocated it and completely drained the life out of it!! I am going to pretend that this last book didnt happen and that Tristan never got burned and she turned into a vampire and lived happily ever after with Tristan. Even though she clearly didn't deserve him (;

I love Kaitlyn Davis ok?! Espesialy after she wrote the first the first two books in the midnight fire series. But these last two books were just terriable. The first turn off for me was in the third one when Kira and Tristan broke up. That was breathtaking, and i dont mean that in a good way. I had to read that part in the book like five times. I just couldnt beleieve it! I mean like serious Kaitlyn, WTH?!!……sorry, i lost it a bit. Anywho, where was i, oh yeah, Kira BURNS Tristian alive, retore his singed body back unto a human, gives his brain amnesia, and then turns and gives Luke a big wet one, all in the matter of one page. Wow! I was SOOO angry after reading the third book, i swore to myself i would not read the forth book. But I hit what i like to call a "dry spell". Meaning, i havent read any good or interesting books here lately. Well then i run across Scorch. I honestly thought that this book was Kaitlyn's redemtion for that horriable third book. But unforutnately, she continued to dissapoint me even further. This forth book is worst than the third. In this book Kira still is trying to choose between Tristain( who has no clue as to who she is) or Luke. Well SPOILER ALERT: She chooses Luke. LUKE!!! Does anyone have an inhalier?! Cant Breath! In SHOCK!
Kaitlyn??!! Again i say to you, WTH??!! From the very beggining its been Kira and Tristain. And then like out of no where its Kira and Luke. Who writes love triangles like that?! I mean its like Stepinie Myers writing that, Bella chooses Jacob over Edward! But not before Bella burns Edward alive, fry cook his mind, takes away his "vamp hood" and then tells him that hes "not the one". Twlight would have ended up in everyones trashcans! It would have been famous for being the worst teen vamp series ever known to man! Thats what this series has come too. I was so angry after reading Scorch, that i called Barnes & Noble, and demanded my money to be refunded for this no good ebook, i foolishly purchased. They gave me my money back, i deleted Scorch out of my Nook Library, and now im happy. Turst me when i say, this is a waste of your money and presious time, and if you all ready bought it, trashing it or deleting this book, will only make you happy.

I was waiting for this book to come out after reading the #3 in the series. Blaze left me angry at Kira and confused about how she could betray Tristan like that.
I really hoped that things will sort themselves out and she will be with Tristan again, but no! WTH? How can she declare her love to him and then betray him like that???
"Love will prevail" - clearly not! She chose Luke and erased Tristan's memory!!!
What was the author thinking???? After reading what Kira done to Tristan, I really didn't care as to what happened to her in the end!
Probably would have made me less angry if she has actually died!
Tristan deserved to know the truth about their relationship at least and not brushed off with "we have been friends" !

So angry that I wasted money on the last two books in the series!!!

Horrible story line!

I am definitely on the team Tristan!

Love will Prevail

Scorch finishes the Midnight Fire Series with the warming glow of the sun. My cheeks hurt so much from smiling in happiness at what had felt like a sad ending.

Although Kira is determined not to give in to the black powers in her heart, the remnant left behind from Aldrich's attempt to turn her, more and more she feels the urge to give in to the siren call of blood.

Kira is finally able to make a choice between the love of Tristan, with his new human body, and her best friend forever, Luke. As she searches with Luke to find a way to choose between the dark and light sides of her, the Protector and the Punisher Councils are deciding her fate.

The conclusion is a glorious mixture of noblesse, selflessness and bittersweet emotions. Grab the Kleenex box, you'll need them all. I appreciated the trick ending, it suited the characters personality. I highly recommend this series.

No spoilers:

I also really like this book too. I was pleased with the outcome, and enjoyed going on the adventures with Kira. I won’t say much more, being the final book, it can spoil a lot for the previous one.

The only thing I didn’t like, is the cover, its cool, except when looking close you see her hand behind her, making it seem as flames are coming out her butt, lol, yes, it’s her hand, but just first reaction to it was that.

5 stars as well. Overall a great series.

I received a copy of this book from the author for my honest review

This is book 4 in the ‘Midnight Fire’ Series.
Tristan is human, Kira isn’t sure what the darkness inside her is, and Luke just wants her to choose him.
Can Kira save the conduits from the battle that is about to happen with Aldritch? Will Tristan regain his vampire memories? And will Kira choose Tristan or Luke?

This was a great end to the series, with plenty of action and excitement.

Kira was really strong in this book. I loved how she took charge, made plans, and thought about what was best for everybody rather than what was best for her.

The storyline in this was pretty good, and I liked that things weren’t easy for Kira to solve. I liked the plans that she made though, and I liked that she stayed true to what she wanted and believed in rather than taking the easy path.
I thought the love triangle was also finished successfully, and I liked that Kira made a choice rather than allowing fate to choose for her.

The ending to this was also good and I liked that we got both and happy and bright ending. The last line was also really beautiful!
Overall; a great end to the series.
8 out of 10.

Update! May 20, 2013

So....
It's been a couple days since I finished this series, even read another book since then and I can't stop thinking about them. I'm really sad for Tristan, haha. I feel like he should have been given the choice. Or maybe given a minute once the "wall" was taken down to talk to Kira. Maybe give him a little longer scene in the book during that. THEN take the memories away. I am just really sad for him and how Kira and Luke ended up with everything they wanted. If there was ever a need for a spin off series... this is it!!! I need to make sure that Tristan is ok! =/

I am really happy I read this series. The first book was one of those free Kindle books that I decided to take a chance on since I have been spending way too much money on books. However, it turned out to be a really good series. All of them made me laugh and Scorch made me laugh and cry.
This series is definitely worth the read. Cheap, easy, and quick reads! ;)

It's hard to explain what I love about those more old school YA novels and why I in a way miss them. I understand that the world needs different heroines nowadays. I understand that some people dislike love triangles. I understand that the special snowflake story has been done so often it's not special anymore. And yet, I just enjoy those stories anyway. They make me a little nostalgic and they remind me how I re-found my love for reading after high school and college.

The ending of the series couldn't have been more perfect. Of course, this book was in a way quite predictable. There were a lot of things I saw coming and a lot of surprise reveals clearly not being such big surprises. But I enjoyed each and every second of it. I enjoyed how all the pieces of the puzzle clicked. How weaknesses were exploited and strengths were used. How those characters literally drove each other to their absolute extremes.

I also really loved how the love triangle was solved eventually. I think that in a way it was not the ending I had been seeing after the cliffhanger in the third book, but I understand that this ending fitted Kira way better as a character. She's a heroine. Always putting others first. Always putting their happiness first. And if she can do something good for someone else, even if it hurts herself, she will always pick that option.

Although Kira has been presented as a special snowflake, she has never been a one-of-a-kind-and- there-will-never-be-another-one-like-me character. We know how she came to be. We know what that meant for her future. We know what it means for the vampire community, the protector community and the punisher community. The proces can be done again and again and again, with the same results. Just like the epilogue is sort of showing us.

I can't wait to read more books by Davis!

I started out really strong with this series. With the first book, I wondered how on Earth this series wasn't as popular as Twilight. Well, this book explains it all. I honestly do NOT understand why Kaitlyn Davis ended the series this way. Maybe to make it different from Twilight, but it was not a good different. I never expected Kira to ever turn to Luke for comfort, even after the 3rd book when Tristan came back. I assured myself she would find a way to restore his memories. Tbh, I was devastated when Kira made the decision to wipe Tristan's mind. Throughout the series I never got a vibe that Kira liked Luke more than him being her best friend and the mind connection. Kira was head over heels for Tristan and even commented a few times about how they fit together perfectly.
Kira even said that sometimes when you love people you have to left them go, and I understand that, but I think she was happy with Tristan. The only reason she had second thoughts about Tristan was because he was a vampire. Even as a human, it was obvious Tristan still held affection for her. Luke came across as the cocky guy who thought he deserved Kira, even though he was constantly bashing her relationship and Tristan. He thought he was better than Tristan because he was human. However, I did enjoy the series, but this book made me really mad. There were also some grammar mistakes which just added fuel to the fire.

Terrific ending!! It's funny how throughout several books I was sure I wanted Kira to stay with Tristan, I strongly wanted that. Even though I could see her feelings for Luke and tell she was fighting them, I fought that idea just as she was. In the last book I was starting to see Luke really was better for her even tho my mind still fought this and by the end I had hope that it would end up ok & in this book it really felt she was finally seeing her own feelings & admitting she truly loved Luke and her scene with Tristan near the end... omg! I lost it, seriously crying like a baby. This was truly a wonderful ending to wonderful series.

Holy freaking amazeballs!

Where to even begin with this whole series!

From the very beginning I was hooked on the storyline of Kira & Tristan.

Loved the way kaitlyn wrote this whole series.

Loved how she portrayed each character in the books.

There was alot of laughter, tears and screaming going on whilst I read this book. I mean seriously talk about twist on the storyline.

I'm glad there was a happy ending on both sides (can't say more without spoiling it peeps)

I think this particular book is by far the BEST in this series.

Thanks for writing such an amazing book and I look forward to all you're future novels!

Epic ending to an epic series! I am sad to finish this journey, but so happy with the way things wrapped up. I love how things transitioned with Tristan and how she was able to let him go in a bittersweet way and be with Luke which definitely was a long time coming. Luke is such a great character whose lines make me laugh and smile. I love that their close friendship was able to transition into such a strong love bond. I'm not always team best friend in love triangles, and they don't always win, but in this story I was team Luke from probably the beginning of the second book. He was the sun and Tristan was the moon. But Kira draws life from the sun so it makes sense that they would be strongest together.

What I loved most about this series though was probably the really unique take on vampires and giving them chances for redemption and humanity again, as with Tristan and Pavia. I thought this was a really original idea that I haven't found in any other paranormal story that I've encountered at least. There is something really rewarding about that twist because it isn't glorifying the darkness but showing that even those living in that darkness, like Pavia, can choose to become human again if they don't entirely give over to it. I really liked the almost spiritual element woven in there because it made the paranormal part seem more deep and interesting.

All in all, I am pumped there is also a novella to read and see how the characters continue along their journey into Midnight Ice. I feel like Kaitlyn could keep writing spinoff novels based on this world and it would never get old!

I just want to say, I've reread this book many times, and each time I remind myself to look past the romance and see the story for what it is. It's a creative and original take on vampires, with a twist of conduits and a strong female character who carries the story. This is not another twilight, Kira carries the story on her back effortlessly, and judging the book based on a character's romance choice makes me wonder if you expected this to be another twilight.
With that being said, after rereading the entire series you can see from the very beginning how the romance was going to work but it does take another read unless you read it slow the first time. This romance makes sense, works well, and it is my favorite romance in young adult books. The ending couple makes sense and they have always brought each other happiness. Great book!

This author does a fantastic job with setting the scene without going into too much detail and you really connect with the characters.

This was a great finish to this series. I wasn’t sure how Kira was going to win her internal battle, but it was not something I saw coming. I love Luke; he’s definitely someone I’d be best friends with and I can see why Kira and he are pulled together. I wasn’t sure how I’d feel about their relationship, after Tristan, but it didn’t put me off. I cried when she had her goodbye with Tristan; I could feel her pain.

There’s 2 more books in the box set, and I look forward to reading them!

Bar the first book, I will definitely have nice memories of this series, and probably will read something else from Davis. But yeah, it's just a comfortable, easy and quick read, nothing too thought-out or complex, so there.

What I'm most disappointed about are the relationships between characters, because I didn't feel, whether it was Tristan or Luke, why exactly does Kira actually like them, what made them fall in love. That was one aspect that was really neglected in these books. It would be okay if it wasn't such a big focus of the series, but as it stands, it was definitely one of the things to bring it down a notch.

Tristan is human and unconscious. The brief times he’s awake he doesn’t remember Kira or anything. Aldrich has gotten away, and Kira has to face both the Protector and the Punisher councils to determine her fate.

Lots of interesting plot switches and situations with Kira but would have liked less running around and more conflict. Not really happy with the romantic situation, but it’s different and make sense and all end up happy so that’s good.

Fave scenes: Pavia arriving to help Kira with her mom and Kira visiting her childhood cabin.

A fabulous end to the series. Kira must face Aldrich, but this time she has a cadre of vampires on her side. However, worse than facing Aldrich, she must face the darkness within that threatens to change her into an original vampire. While Luke continues to be her rock, Tristan pulls at her heartstrings. The ending is excellent.

Action-packed. Entertaining. Happily Ever After. Inspirational. Romantic. Scary. Tragic. Twisted. Unpredictable. Whimsical. Wonderful characters.

I received a review copy of this book from a third party. This is my honest review.

Reviewing from box set. Wow just wow so much unexpected stuff happened. Kira did the right thing letting Tristan go and let him decide for himself even tho he couldn't remember. Loved Pavia hope her and Tristan get together and I think Kira wants that too. So happy for Kira and Luke even though she almost died to make things right. So glad A is finally gone. Loved the end where everyone came together to save Humanity. Loved this series.

Kira has to fight to keep herself from turning evil. She is finally able to let go of Tristan and who better than Pavia to take care of him. She is pretty crafty at finding a solution to her growing blackness. I really admire her spunk and was satisfied with the ending.

I did not like the overall message of the book series, "You must choose between two sides of your soul or forever become evil. It also ended with a very cliche Romeo and Juliet scene. P.S. it is not a tragedy.

Warning: if you have NOT read the previous three books, this review may contain spoilers. Do yourself a favor and buy the first three… no, just buy all four. Then read the first three, and then read this review. I’ll try not to give anything away but I read the series all in a row so I may let something slip. You have been warned. Moving on…

This is the first YA series in a while that I was unable to put down, and cursed whenever I was interrupted. I was lucky enough to be able to read this entire series in a short period of time, as the previous three books are necessary for the last one to be fully understood. I am very thankful and excited to have been able to add these to my collection of books.

One thing I liked most about this series is that, unlike The Mortal Instruments series, I didn’t want to continuously slap the main characters in this one. Kira is a very relatable character and throughout the series, is understandably upset, confused and reactive to many different crazy situations. The two guys that she is in the love triangle with are both understandable as viable relationships and attraction for her.

Kira finds out that she is a half-and-half conduit: a mixed breed, if you will. The conduits, long ago, were separated into two kinds: Protector and Punisher. The Protectors can channel the sun into flames that only stop a vampire from moving and harming, still believing that a vampire’s soul is there and that they can be saved. Punishers produce fire from their channeling of the sun that burn vampires straight out, believing that the vampire has long since lost its soul and humanity. Kira had parents that were one of each. She is the first of her kind since before history was written down and only speculation and rumors can answer any questions as to what lies ahead for her.

She has Luke and Tristan — Luke is a conduit, like Kira, though he is 100% Protector. Tristan is a vampire. (Spoiler of the first three books: or he was, at least).

Kira returns from London to Sonnyville, Florida (where the Protectors have their compound) and has to face the consequences of all that happened. And to fight the growing darkness inside of her.

I suppose I like Kira so much because she is human (at least, in terms of her personality and reactions to things) and therefore she makes mistakes. She’s not perfect, and she doesn’t have the best judgement, but she knows what she believes is right and fights for it. Surprisingly, not all heroine’s are like that. And for this to be a role model for young girls, I really like that. There also isn’t any crazy sexual stuff going on. The deepest it gets is some heavy petting and make-out sessions. Even better.

The book relies heavily on the fact that good is better than evil and that love conquers all — especially evil. Kira realizes (in book three) that her powers can be used for an amazing amount of good — beyond anything that any other Conduits ever thought. And proves that the Protectors are right and that some vampires ARE still good — though Tristan proves that right off the bat.

I really loved this book and I suggest everyone go and just buy all four books. they are very affordable and published through Amazon.com by Kaitlyn Davis, herself — something that I love seeing. It takes a brave soul to do that and she should be rewarded for her fantastic writing and storytelling. Kira isn’t a human girl who is one dimensional and in love with a vampire. She’s a well-thought out character who comes to life from the pages and steals into your heart. Read the books. Do it.

Mini review:
Like Blaze , book three of the series, Scorch was fantastic. I don't want to spoil any of it, so I'm just going to say:

The plot and emotional tension was amped on high. I really felt the war within Kira. The author did a superb job describing the inner turmoil of the light battling the darkness. Not only could I envision it, but I could feel it too. The action was well paced, with great description. Previous characters make appearances, and we get our answers. And talk about major FEELS ... *flails* I wanted to hug Tristan, to run my hands all over him to make sure he was real and because he was so darn endearing. I wanted to hold Kira's hand when she made the biggest decisions of her life, as well as scream her to not give up. Luke ... well, he was Luke—Kira's rock, her light. While he didn't change or grow in some astounding way, I still adored him.

Series review:
... By the end of the series, the relationships were so much more maturely handled than I had expected that I almost wished otherwise. :) But like I've said before, my favorite flavor is bittersweet.

If you're looking for a quick YA Paranormal read that's a good balance between romance and plot, focusing on a strong female and with a good cast, you might want to check The Midnight Fire series. Despite its need of good editing, I lost myself in Kaitlyn Davis's world and my own nostalgia—an old love for a light, maybe now "traditional" YA vampire story. This series has gotten better and better with each book and I felt that this book was the best one in the series so far.

I saw one review that gave this book a really horrible rating and told every single thing that happened. I have never gone that route and I never will. Where’s the fun in reading a book if you already know the ending, it’s like watching a movie with someone sitting beside telling you what’s gonna happen next. I’m really glad that I didn’t read that review before reading this book because while yes the OCD in me would still have made me read it, the element of shock, sorrow and surprise would have been gone. I will tell you that there are some major things that happen in this book that you will not like and one of them is something that I never would have seen coming.

It’s been a little over a week from where the last book ended and Kira and Tristan have concocted a plan to sneak off to England leaving Luke behind in hopes of protecting him while they look for Aldrich and hopefully find her mother. What Kira doesn’t realize is just how hard it will be.

During her journey, Kira finds out the truth but at the same loses a lot more than she had bargained for. There are so many twists and turns in this book as well as heartache not just for Kira but for Luke and Tristan as well.

There is a new character in this book that I really enjoyed. She’s a vampire by the name of Pavia. I have high hopes that we will cross paths with her again and I’m forever hopeful that she will be more like Tristan than the other vampires in this series.

Scorch is the next book in the series which is already out. 4.5 stars
