Rate this book
New Holland is coming. This submerged city of organized lawlessness built to cruise the international waters of the world will soon be making its way to a port near you, but before it can even be constructed, the wealthy Kuglers will have to be talked into sponsoring the project by young Mick, who has just married into the family. In Book One of the Danglers Series, we meet a global cast of the maritime architect who designed drilling platforms before being hired to build a tsunami-proof apartment complex in Tokyo Bay; two computer hackers from Juarez who commit the wrong crime at the right moment; a medical researcher in New York who refuses to share her latest breakthrough with her corporate sponsor; and a bodybuilder in Amsterdam who unwittingly applies for a job that will change his life when he agrees to help clean up someone else's mess in the Red Light District. All the while, we learn more and more about the enigmatic Ruth Kugler, heiress to a family fortune that can be traced back to twelfth-century Vienna.

New Holland is coming!
The Kuglers are a formidable matriarchal family where every male that marries into the family must accept the Kugler name.
The Kuglers, a dynasty of strong women have theoretically shaped the course of history by guiding the men in their lives and supporting the choices they make in keeping the reputation of the family as strong as ever.
Now is the time for Mick to make his mark in supporting the family dynasty.
After marrying Ruth Kugler he is taken on as an apprentice by her father Sai, in which he learns the true importance of this family.
New Holland will become Mick’s contribution, can he get the Kuglers to sponsor this scheme and get them to believe this is the family’s way forward.
At first glance this book can seem slightly confusing, with so many points of view I initially began to feel lost.
The characters that in essence will become important in this series are all given their own in depth introduction.
Each character I read about all seemed set a little too far apart from the main characters to have any real impact in the story, but as I read further on everything seemed to fall into place and the story began to flow extremely well forming an amalgamation of interesting characters in what I believe could be an exciting series.
I am intrigued by this Kugler family and I hope to learn more as the books progress.

I loved this book. It's near-future science fiction, but it's so much better-written than most other science fiction that it transcends the genre. The Kugler Dynasty (Danglers: Book 1) features a great ensemble cast in a believable scenario. Without spoiling too much of the plot, it's the story of a young man who marries into a matriarchy that secretly holds much of the world's power and wealth. He is tasked with managing the family fortune, which he decides to invest in a floating city called New Holland. The premise behind New Holland is that it will be a kind of Libertarian Utopia that travels the world. It's a lot of fun, and I can't wait for the next installment.

Overall an interesting read that just happened to get bogged down by all of the POV's. I very much enjoyed it and am interested in what happens next. Full review on Parajunkee tomorrow.
